Located down the street from the Prague Hilton hotel this pub is a real find!we were 6000 miles from home and wandering and found a crowded cafe and went in. Service was concise and we ordered linguini with bolognese and beef ribs. Linguini was a thick tubular version with shaved Parmesan. Ribs were cutlets and beefy. Pilsner beer was foamy and perfectly brewed .Apple tart dessert was bomb. No street parking (this isn't SoCal). read more

Our Viking cruise guy told us to go to The Gate. It's an easy walk from the Prague Hilton. Use this hack for reading menus that are not in English. Use Google. Select Lens and before you take a photo of the menu select Translate! Game changer. The Gate has 4 daily lunch specials and the heading is the date. At our table we had Gnocci and chicken, snitzle and a beef stuffed pepper. All were good! Great service too! read more

Nice atmosphere but the service definitely has an attitude. Loved the chicken and dumpling soup tho there was two tiny pieces of chicken in it and three even tinier dumplings. If you're looking for a nice broth soup, this is a great choice. Had the server been nicer, more professional, I would rate this a definite "yes" to come. read more

3.5 stars. The only reason they aren't getting 3 is because the waiter offered an unsolicited apology. I'll explain. Our last night in Prague we wanted to dine at a restaurant close to our hotel. The concierge suggested several near by but none seemed appropriate. We wandered in to Gate firstly asking if they take credit cards because we were all out of Czech Crowns. They did. An english speaking wait staff wasn't an issue while in Prague and it was similar here. They had diverse menu including BBQ and burgers but I decided on a pork tenderloin dish. They had a few domestic beers which are always fun to try and were very good. We drank these while it seemed our food took forever to arrive. Four of us said our meals were very good but they all came out cold. When I say cold, I mean 10 minutes of sitting on the shelf before being delivered. On the way out the waiter apologized and explained that our meals took long because there were problems in the kitchen and whatever. At least he knew there was a problem. Anyway ambiance was fine but sit downstairs unless you want to be blinded by cigarette smoke upstairs. read more

Stopped here for dinner on our last night in Prague. Nice looking restaurant with outside tables, tables inside & a non smoking section downstairs. We opted for the downstairs which was a very nice atmosphere although it was a bit dark. The have changing lights on the ceiling & a large fish tank in the room. Also a small corner for kids to play. Ordering a beer was a bit of struggle with the communication gap but our waitress sent over someone else who could help us. We ordered a couple of beers & I ordered a salad. It took quite a long time for us to get our food but the waiter did apologize for the delay. Seems they were short handed in the kitchen. Everyone was satisfied with their food although I doubt if I were in the area again I would return. It was just average. read more

This restaurant has wide range of food so you will not have problem finding something to nibble. Most crowds appear to be in their 20s.. and came here for drinks rather than proper dinner. We opted for pasta and chef special (dumpling dish). Not very memorable but they were OK. A basket of three kinds of bread was only $.25. No complimentary bread in most restaurants in Prague but they are very cheap. Very friendly service. read more

Absolutely wonderful ... and it sure must have been because we (and several on our Viking cruise) dined there THREE TIMES ... yes, 3 times in four days! The restaurant is a short walk from the Hilton, has outside seating ... but even inside - they have plenty of seating! Their menu is expansive - from Chez foods to Italian to Vegetarian to anything you would like. And much of their food is homemade. The portions are huge ... so either be hungry or pay the small service fee & share. The shrimp appetizer is spicy and tasty... a couple of times I just ordered two appetizers! The stuffed meat dumplings are very different and delicious (but again, huge). My hubby & several others had the gnocchi several times ... it was excellent! Both the Chez beer & local white wine are perfect ... but I don't have the spelling for either (just ask). Service can be on the slow or slower side so if you are on a schedule tell them in advance & remind them along the way . Everyone spoke excellent English so I'm not certain what others complained about on their reviews... read more

Excellent food and service. They were out of traditional goulash, but the server recommended and I had a beef dish in a cream sauce with lemon and cranberries. My companion had a pork tenderloin dish. Both were excellent. Two entrees plus a large side of fresh green beans and four beers was barely over $40. read more

This place is one of those restaurants which wont offend but also wont impress. The enviroment is pretty nice, in a modern style. It´s divided into smoking and non-smoking part. The problem is sometimes with service. It´s not really good. But to be honest we go there mainly to play poker so we just drink beers. I had a dinner there few times and have to say that local meals are on the average level, maybe better average. Just ration quality/price is not really good. Lower prices would be a good idea. Or better meals. Also less meals would be a good idea. Hard to believe that everything is fresh according to the size of menu. Beer is good and so is the offer of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It´s not a bad place to go but mainly just for beer and talk with your friends. I would pick some other place for a lunch or dinner. read more

It was hard to decide whether to give this restaurant 3 or 4 stars. It's more like a 3.5 :) If it weren't for the restaurant interior itself, it would definitely be more of a 3 because the food isn't anything spectacular. You expect something like potrefena husa but there just isn't enough effort put into the individual dishes, it comes out more like a regular hospoda. Like a lot of people said, the food is uninspiring and in that way may not be worth the price to a lot of people. I tried the fajitas and even though the meat didn't come out in a sizzling plate like it should, it was still tasty. the atmosphere is a bit modern and it's good for meeting up with friends to eat and drink on a cold evening. read more

They tried to cheat us twice!!! Once with a meal, nobody ordered. He wouldn't believe us, that we did not order the third Carpaccio. He insisted, that somebody of our group ordered three Carpaccios, although we all ordered individually. Later they charged us too many drinks, which we unfortunately first noticed after we had gone. The food is not bad, but not good either. You could do most of that stuff at home, probably more delicious. read more

We were staying at the Hilton where everything is overpriced. Walked down the street and found this restaurant. Ordered goulash and a pesto pasta chicken dish. The wait staff was excellent and spoke excellent English. The menu was also in English. Had an excellent meal and good glasses of Moldavian wine. I would certainly recommend this establishment. read more

They have a rather broad menu and the atmosphere is nice but in general it's nothing special. It is an average in all the aspects. It's nice for lunch and for dinners with friends but it's not any special place that would provide some extraordinary experience. Definitely it is, however, a great place to go to during the weekends with kids as downstairs they have a very nice kids corner. read more

The menu is quite extensive, both Czech and other options. The food however was not inspiring. Got the carbonara that for some reason included about half an onion chopped into large pieces. Service was fast and efficient. They seperate the smoking and nonsmoking sections on seperate floors that are somehow not completely seperate, so smoke from upstairs still comes down (which is some strange feat considering smoke travels up). There is a large aquarium downstairs which they advertise, but it is empty, perhaos they ran out of food and ate the fish? read more

We had to sit in the basement because the rest of the restaurant was fully booked by reservations. Although the basement was just occupied for 50%, it was very noisy, probably due to the use of all hard building materials that supposed to look 'trendy'. The steak, burger and salmon that we had tasted good although half of wasn't hot (maybe it had cooled off because it took so long to prepare the main ingrediënts). We guess that we had given 4 stars if we hadn't been eating in the basement. read more

Went to this restaurant before 6 PM -- wait staff was almost curt. They said every table is reserved and people will be there in 10 minutes so we can not help you. Seems implausible since it was mid week and early. We ate at another restaurant then wandered by this restaurant again about 8 PM. There were at least two empty tables. Very unfriendly.
