This place really is one of a kind dental office! Doctors here are so professional and kind, I think this is a one stop dental office for everyone as their specialist and general dentist are SUPER awesome! Me and my sister both had good teeth but we needed invisalign and a good general dentist that do our twice a year teeth cleaning right (difference between a thorough job vs. lousy job is that I still bleed during teeth brushing for years with twice a year teeth cleaning with other dentist. It finally stopped after I came here seeing Dr. May Chan and Dr. Lok, it's REALLY REALLY CLEAN! My sister also thinks their polish is higher quality as her teeth remain shiny and bright longer than any other dental office she been to). Dr. Chan also being so patient to answer all of our questions about invisalign and explore all possible options according to our concerns. You know they are being honest and not all about making money by asking u have unnecessary stuff. My husband has trouble teeth, very bad periodontitis and his 3rd molar extraction is one of the very complicated case, its in an awkward position and very close to facial nerve, other dental office has referred him to another surgeon specialist years ago but he was afraid to go. After he experienced the least painful deep cleaning ( periodontitis needs to have regular gum deep cleaning ) with Dr. Chan, he is confident dr in this office has highest expertise for his case, so he decided to let the specialist surgeon (I forgot his name) to extract his 3rd molar here. He was so impressed that the whole process was so quick and worried free! For daughter who already has decayed and staining teeth sine 2, is cared by Dr. Chan as well. She had her teeth cleaning, filling and check up done without fear and tears because Dr. Chan's calming voice, gentleness and friendly smiles. She never said no to see Dr. Chan. Thank God for Dr. May at Gateway Dental! My daughter (11 years old) has a baby tooth won't come out naturally, and it's blocking the permanent tooth so an extraction is needed . A little background, my daughter is so high maintenance and we went to quite a few dentists before and most of them won't have the patience to work with her. Until a few years ago we found Dr. May. She was so patient and nice. She won't scare the kid and will even take extra time to calm her down. Most doctors out there won't do that including Pediatric Dentists!!! No one has more patience than Dr. May! By the way, she always smile with her eyes! Due to the pandemic, we delayed our visit until we really have to, the set up at the office makes me feel SAFE and comfortable! First, they take your temperature with a contactless camera. The front desk wipe down the counter and pens multiple times for you. Then when you walk in, there are TWO air filters in each room, also there is an extra suction cup look machine place right above my daughter, between Dr. and the dental assistant. I was curious so I asked about it, turns out it's a machine works as vacuum, the objective is to keep less aerosol in the air!!! Along with TWO air filters in each room that I mentioned above, this definitely provide EXTRA protection to patients and staffs, especially during the pandemic. (Let alone we also have the wildfire going on.) The visit went smooth and once again, thank YOU Dr. May for taking care of my high maintenance daughter. Loved them, having a dental emergency (cracked molar) during the weekend, was fortunate to find them opening and provide an opening for me. Dr. Lok was super helpful too, my teeth was really bad but instead recommending a root canal, he manage with salvage ($200 well spent compare to $1000+ root canal would have cost), they offer the cheapest deep cleaning too, half the price others quoted and a free regular cleaning. read more

Really great dentist. Found them randomly when I was searching for a dentist that was open on Sunday. They were able to see with only minutes till closing. Doctor Lok was great. Patient, caring, and willing to answer any questions you need. I'm glad he wasn't trying to push any services that were not necessary. The people working the front desk was amazing too. I've used the services of Dr. Whelan Lok and Dr. Sylvia Zangl. And they are both top notch dentists. Today I had Dr. Zangl (she has a sweet accent!) for my 6 month check up and cleaning and I really liked her. She was very thorough and explained everything that she was doing, each step of the way. From looking over my x-rays and explaining what she saw in the images and then moving on to the actual exam and cleaning, she would update me on what procedures she was doing next. Fantastic. The actual office itself was nice, clean and modern, theres a tv in front of every booth so you can watch tv shows while you're getting your teeth worked on. I work in a Dr.'s office and for me to be utterly impressed and blown away by a business takes a lot. I was seen on a Sunday for excruciating pain I was having and they worked me into their busy schedule. I have no insurance and their prices are beyond good, Dr.Lok is very knowledgeable and precise with his work. His compassion with his they took very good care of me, Dr.Lok took my pain away and the staff called later the same day to check up on me and my progress and that really shows they care about their patients not just the business. i am forever grateful for finding this amazing office, I will be going back for years i am sure. read more

I've been coming to Gateway Dental for years under the care or Dr. Lok. He took care of my basic cleaning, deep cleaning, fillings, and even teeth whitening for my wedding! Out of convenience (a 5 minute drive vs 25 minute drive,) I switched to a closer dentist last year thinking it should be about the same. I was terribly mistaken. When I compared they way Dr. Lok did my fillings and the way my recent dentist did it, Dr. Lok is clearly a superior dentist. I went running back to Dr. Lok because my recent fillings with the closer dentist gave me terrible sharp pains for a month. One visit and Dr. Lok fixed it! I have to give it up to Dr. May Chan at Gateway Dental. My daughter doesn't have good teeth since 2 years old; being rebellious and stubborn causes it. We had experience with other dentists and I have to say, NO ONE OUT THERE ARE MORE PATIENCE than Dr. May Chan. Gateway Dental really is the way to go. They have friendly staffs; their office is decent, not like those who only focus on fancy décor. To me, the dentist and the professionalism are more important than eye catchy packaging. We were there for three different visits. Boy I'll tell you, it's never easy to work with kids on their teeth. Dr. May Chan was beyond patience and never gives up. Not only that, she cares of the patient's feelings. She kept us posted steps by steps of what she is going to do. Show all the tools to my daughter and use language & terms that my daughter understands, most importantly make sure she feels comfortable of the procedure. Even though she still cries a bit the first two times, by our third visit, there were NO TEARS at all! Bottom line, my 6 1/2 year old told me "I am not afraid of Dentist anymore!" That says it all! I had a root canal here once when I was 26. Dr. Lok is a friend of my wife's family. We both needed a crown, and I had needed two root canals for the past 3 years and finally my head began buzzing and she made me go in to Dr. Lok over the weekend. He told me that my last upper tooth (my molars were removed when I was 13), had such an extremely big hole that he could stick a whole pinky into it, and wanted to know how I went that long. Haha. He prescribed my medicine for the infection, and I requested Keflex (amoxicillin has never worked on me and in fact, the times I've taken it for a single dose alone is enough to make me throw up like the exorcist style). He performed the root canal over three separate appointments since it was the most insane thing he said he had seen in his career. I remember after each appointment going to the Santa Anita mall and eating on it. I chewed gum and smoked like a chimney and it never hurt for a moment. Excellent job. read more
