I have been using Gateway Fiber for many years now and have always found their service to be amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly. It's amazing what a few incidents of bad service can do to a guy's perception of the business. My hardware firewall, which sits behind their modem, is reporting up to 96.2% packet loss, with high latency. I submitted a service ticket 6 days ago and haven't received a reply, so I called them today. Rarely do I have issues, but the few times I have called in, their service has been amazing! That changed today when I spoke to Sarah, who was very dry and kept me waiting long periods between questions, such as "Can I get your phone number?" I mean, she would ask questions to which I would answer, and she just sat there silent. I asked her a few times if she was still there because she was in her own world. I gave details on packet loss, setup, etc., but she kept getting it wrong, and I had to explain again. I was just hoping that she could do a connection test from them to the modem. Then she was asking me about my router, but I kept telling her the problem is way before the router because of the way my system is set up: Modem-Hardware Firewall (in DHCP mode), then the router in bridge mode for wireless devices. Mostly silent, she still didn't seem to get it or be willing to do a connection test. What bothered me most was that she kept interrupting me until I got frustrated enough to tell her I would call back later. She was very dry, robotic, and terrible with the long pauses. As I said, GF has been phenomenal over the years, but between no response to my ticket, her unwillingness to respond without sitting there silently, and their new "AI Assistant" on the main line, really gave me a bad impression today. If I had been a new customer and had this experience with her, I would have kept my old service. I am thinking that if I call back in and hope for someone else to answer, I may be able to get some help. read more

Our internet went out Friday morning due to maintenance the company did Thursday night. Things happen. Called service, unplugged this, then this and they couldn't figure out why our internet wasn't working. "A service technician will call you to come out and determine the problem." It's now Tuesday, we've heard NOTHING. Luckily, one of the neighbors actually did have a service technician come out, determine the problem and fixed it. Neighbor posted about it, hubby did the same thing and it fixed ours too. Which, Gateway Fiber doesn't know because that would require decent customer service to call. I've made comments on Facebook and even sent a message on Facebook. Still got nothing. Once your internet goes down, their customer service stinks! read more

Completely irresponsible company. Seems they sub contract their "construction" work. Putting the cable underground is construction work. Seems they didn't research the company they use for this labor as the google review on that company regarding damage are frequent. this company not only damaged my property they almost killed my dogs. Knowing I had an invisible dog fence (I told the guy who came and installed the modem and router) they sent 3 men to handle the cable. One of which says on my camera (assuming they didn't think it recorded sound) I don't care if they have a dog fence. Another person points out that it's clearly coming out of my garage. He said "Every garage has that" I can show that no garage around me has that. After cutting the cable one of the workers comes back to where it comes out of the house puts his ear up against the wall and walks away say that they cut it and they can hear it beeping. You'd think they would notify me. They didn't. So a few hours later my neighbors son came over to let my dogs out. He doesn't go in from the garage so he didn't hear the beeping. I get a call from my neighbors whose son is sobbing thinking he lost my dogs. I have to leave work early and track my dogs through the woods by their airtags, thank God they were found ok considering it was 21 degrees last night and it's the middle of coyote mating season. A time of year the Missouri department of conservation doesn't recommend leaving dogs unattended in a fenced yard let alone running around in the woods. When I got the dogs home I was able to watch the cameras and see that it was in fact not the young mans fault that the dogs had escaped. I immediately called gateway I was told I would get a call first thing this morning. Sure enough that didn't happen actually turns out they didn't even start working on the problem till I called back at 10:30 to find out why I didn't get a call back. After all that Gateway wants me to let the same company that "didn't care" come out and repair the damage they did. I can't imagine why I would want a company who "didn't care" then intentionally didn't tell me they damaged the property so I could safeguard my pets to come back and give them a chance to actually harm my dogs. Don't use this company not worth taking that risk with what matters most to you. I haven't even had gateway for a week and I'll be going back to my old company. I noticed they responded and said they were working with me diligently to rectify this. That's a lie. I haven't heard from them since I got off the phone yesterday. My number is still the same. They don't want to fix the problem they want me to go away preferably without them having to pay for the damage caused by a company twice removed. Yet found out after talking to the contractor that they subcontracted the job out. So gateway hired a company that has a history of causing property damage who then hired another company that I've been unable to find a name for. So gateway is sending people to your house who don't work for them, who don't work for who they hired, yet work for another company. I'm sure this person who's twice removed has had a proper background check done before they drop them your address, phone number, and any other personal information that's on your order. I'd like to say this situation is getting resolved instead it's just more shocking as time goes on. Oh yeah and this person who is twice removed has access to your internet lord only know what they can do with access to your home network. I started think the company was irresponsible now it's just seems like outright dangerous. read more

We switched from ATT internet to Gateway Fiber and have loved the speed increase, budget savings and better support. We orders and currently have the 1GB service, but are thinking about upgrading to the 2GB service in the future. While we had a little inconvenience with some digging in our yard to lay the fiber, they quickly patched everything up and it is basically as good as new. I would recommend them to anyone who is tired of dealing with the bigger internet providers and wants higher speeds. read more

I struggled with customer service, trying to return some equipment after a death in the family. But once I came to Gateway Fiber in Wright City, I had the BEST support. Kayla in the call center spent so much time on the phone with me to finally find a solution. The technician at the location (I'm so sorry I didn't get the name), was compassionate, and made QUICK work of my problem. I'm so grateful I drove some extra miles to go there. Gateway Fiber installed their service at my neighbors home in Lake St Louis. They left the wire sit on both our lawns for well over 4 weeks and during this time, received several calls from my neighbor (their customer) and myself to get the line buried. This disrupted our mowing service and our use of our own lawn. They even had to have the utilities marked twice during this time. When they finally showed up to bury the line they cut through my cable/internet line disrupting service to my home office. When we reported the issue they told us that there was nothing they could do and that we would have to call our cable company to fix their (Gateway Fibers) mistake. I had to cancel 4 client meetings during this time period nad lost over 7 hours of productivity. In addition, they left a mess on my lawn. They did not restore the grade or rake the area they just threw some grass seed down on the disturbed area. Gateway Fiber showed themselves to have poor customer service and is from my perspective......Unprofessional BTW......Spectrum showed up the same day we called and had us restored by the end of the day. read more

I was ABSOLUTELY floored by the customer service from this company all around and especially from a gentleman by the name of RUSS. Not many times can you state that about the people within a company but I definitely can within this one. They answered every single solitary question I had without hesitation or aggravation and had enthusiasm with it. I never one time felt as if I was bothering them or just a number. I am so impressed by this company. For ANYONE whom is thinking of switching without a doubt you should. I could not be any happier with my service and CLEARLY the customer service is OUTSTANDING!!!!! Called for a business Internet circuit. Rep on the phone told me she could only handle residential. Told me to fill out a form on-line and someone in their business group would get back to me. No call. Called again and was told the same thing. Filled out the form again and still no response. That was over 6 weeks ago. If they aren't responsive during the sales process what will they be like once I have their service and need attention? read more

Beware! I had been looking forward to getting their service for almost 2 years. But IM done with companies that lie to me, to get my business. I guess they figure 99% of the customers will put up with the lies and BS, just to get the service. I refuse. The FIRST thing I asked when I called them about service almost 2yrs ago, was "will I be able to access the modem and adjust the settings to integrate into my static IP home network"? I was told "yes". 2yrs later, Gateway shows up to install my fiber, and when he gets it installed, I ask him what the default IP address of the modem is, so I can access it and change settings (like many of us have done for decades) to integrate with my static home network. He looks at me like Im from Mars. He calls a tech, and the tech starts trying to tell me how I need to set my network. Then THEY issue an IP address to the modem themselves, which is NOT in my range and will NOT work. Then, after all this and wasting a half hour.... they admit I cant ever access their modem.... AT ALL! I told the guy to disconnect the modem and take it with him, as I will NOT be using gateway service. I will stick with my crappy Brightspeed DSL.... that I have been able to access the modem on for decades... purely on principle. Im sick and tired of dealing with BS and lies from companies like this! NO way I would ever recommend such an underhanded, dishonest company! Screw Gateway! read more
