I popped in for jazz night. A local music professor brings his band in to play for a little bit, then students (or anyone else) can sit in. The guy running the gig was super friendly and welcoming to newcomers. It was efficiently run and everyone got a chance to play. Friendly and comfortable dive on Park St. It's on the smaller side so I recommend getting there early. The bathrooms are upstairs and I won't lie, I was shocked that they were super clean. Park Street Tavern hasn't been reviewed as much as its neighbors. It might be because it's hard getting inside. This bar is comparatively tiny. All the other bars on this street have large open areas. This doesn't have room for that. It was one of the bars featured on the St. Patrick's Day bar crawl. It really got ridiculously cramped on there. The bartenders did a pretty good job at keeping up. Sometimes they make you pay a cover. There wasn't any this weekend. It had a live band. There's a stage squished into the front. Often the bands play classic rock covers. The prices of drinks are okay. I had a Jameson and ginger ale. This was $5. That's not terrible for a bar in a wannabe trendy area like this. It didn't seem to have food. It's okay because there's plenty of other nearby food options. We came for the Jam Session last Tuesday evening. My family was in town and thankfully my brother brought his sax. We really enjoyed ourselves, myself especially since I haven't heard my brother play live in years! The session was well run, by a local music professor and there were quite a few young talents we all need to look out for in the future music world! The tavern is reminiscent of "Cheers" and the bar staff was very attentive and responded professionally and peacefully to a complaint about a loud patron who had too much to drink. The crowd was made of up people of all races and ages, which really made it cool. The bathroom was way upstairs and pretty isolated, so the ladies would opt to go together. Such a great bar in the Columbus Arena District. Everyone is friendly from the bouncers to the bartenders. Alysia was our bar tender last night and she was very friendly and made great margaritas. Came for karaoke night and had a blast! My friend and i got to sing two songs each even being really packed. They have an app for karaoke now instead of submitting your sing directly to the DJ. In pure COVID fashion, you have to wear a mask and the microphone is clean between each singer and there is a cute little mic mask. I had two ciders, that you can't really mess up so no thoughts there. Overall was a fun night! Glad they found a way for us to safely do karaoke! read more

Definitely the best bar on the street if you're past the age of clubs and sticky bar floors. This is on Park Street, so there is certainly a bit of the clubby type of crowd but it's much more bearable than the rest on the street. I've been here more than a handful of times for drinks or trivia nights. It's a friendly little bar that isn't overcrowded and has good deals on drinks. It also has free snacks, and I don't just mean a little bowl of peanuts. They have a popcorn machine with trays next to it. And if you look up near the popcorn machine there are giant jugs of Chex mix, cheese balls (the best cheese balls), and cheese its. They're also cool with letting you bring in food. I have lived 1 block away from this pub for 1.5 years but surprisingly have not come here as often as I would have thought. I believe this is partly due to the close proximity of Park Street Cantina and Gaswerks, which if we are being honest, are mediocre bars at best, and absolute trash at worst. However, Park Street Tavern doesn't really give off the "30 year old man creeping on college girl vibe" and I've had excellent experiences here! First of all, this is a popular venue for Harry Potter trivia and is the reason for most of my visits. Check out Big Head Trivia for trivia dates and locations if you're interested in themed trivia! The happy hour here lasts until 8 pm and has domestic bottles for $2.50, all drafts for $4 and well drinks for $4. There are probably 10-15 beers on tap and the gin and tonics I have gotten here have actually been quite delicious! There is free popcorn towards the back of the pub, but we recently found out that the large tubs of snacks (pretzels, Chex mix, and cheesey poofs) next to the popcorn are also free! Pro tip: get the cheesey poofs, they are incredible. There are also some games and a pool table in the back of the pub to keep you entertained! Overall, I think this is a stellar pub. The crowd seems to be a lot more out together and less creepy than the crowds at Cantina and Gaswerks. read more

This is a fine bar that has a lively crowd, decent prices, and a fun jazz night on Tuesdays. Unfortunately, the staff was incredibly irresponsible the last time I was in and has lost my business in perpetuity. I went in to jazz night with one of my friends and ordered a couple beers. My friend has a gluten allergy and is very clear about needing clean glasses for the ciders or GF-beers that he gets. If he has an exposure it can knock him out of commission for a couple days to a week with stomach sickness similar to the flu (imagine a week of food poisoning). He orders a Down East cider and we go to our table. His beer doesn't look like a normal Down East, but we both saw the bartender pour it out of the Down East Tap so we didn't think much of it. After the first sip, my friend looks at me and says "This has gluten in it. Try it." I do. It was a Blue Moon. One of the wheatiest beers on that draft list. We talk to the manager and figure out that the tap lines for Blue Moon and Down East were switch when the new kegs were put in. My friend asks for his money back and then proceeds to go and purge his stomach (self induced vomiting) for the next 15-20min. He comes back and we are watching for a reaction and he notices a mild one starting. Gluten allergy is an auto-immune reaction, so it can take a day or more for the full effects to become apparent as the body freaks out more and more. It doesn't seem to be too bad so we decide to stay for the Jazz night. He decides to ask if he can drink free for the night, since we had talked about leaving but the Jazz group was rocking and wanted to stay for the life music. The bartender tells him that that makes sense and implies that my friend will drink for free or at least get a couple of free beers. This didn't happen. He was charged for his beers, including the one he was allergic to. If you didn't want to give free beer, fine. But, don't act like you will to try and swindle someone you recently poisoned. Additionally, keep your taplines straight. If I order a beer at your bar I expect to get the right beer, ESPECIALLY if I'm allergic to some of the other beers on tap. Now, we cannot trust any beer from this place, since the lines might not be dedicated cider lines and could have gluten contamination. I like this bar a lot; good location and crowd. But, actions like this are how you lose customers, and you can believe they lost at least two last night. read more

Probably the best bar in this area - at least if your NOT a college age d-bag looking to go out and see how ripped you can get. For adults, however, it's about as much fun as you can have - especially on Live Band Karaoke Nights, where it seems everybody gets into the action. From Jazz jams to up-and-coming bands, they have great music every week. The atmoshpere is kinda traditional - this was an old boarding house at one time - but the brick walls, decor and laid-back vibe ensure that you can relax and stay comfortable. Beautiful old bar. Lighting in here is just about perfect, so the place looks good, you look good - and I must say - the bartenders look good, too. Service is always friendly and first-rate. The owners are on-premise a lot too, so that keeps everyone on their toes; but whether they are here or not, you're always sure to have a good time. The clientele skews a litle older than some of the other bars in the area - but it's a great mix of ages and types, so regardless of who you are, you'll be at home. Beer selection is excellent - and the staff really know about the beer as well, so if you're not sure, or want a sample - just ask. No food here, unfortunately, but sometimes they bring in catering for special events. But, with beer this good - who needs food, right? The upstairs area was added not too long ago - it's slightly more contemporary in feel, and usually it's only open for special events or for overflow during particularly busy times. Nice thing about the 2nd floor is the great view of the action on Park St. below. Definitely one of the best bar experiences in town. read more

We try to dispute this and the very rude and condescending bartender tells us she knows she served me 4 beers. Ok. My tab says 6. I would probably be on the floor of I had 6. What kind of girl do I think I are? The kind you meet in a bar? I generally do not dig the whole park street scene with the exception of this authentic little tavern. Although they charge a cover it is worth it, I've never been let down by the bands, which is usually a blend of blues and funk. What I love most about PST is the crowd. I have no problem with the tight in door seating because I always meet very genuine and down to earth people just looking to enjoy some music and brew. I take friends here that are visiting from out of town and we always have a memorable experience. The proximity of the band to the bar seating makes for some interesting interactions between the two. If you are not into the music play some pool or stop in to soak up the alcohol with some popcorn. Good times. read more

Overall my favorite bar in the arena district. You can say that it attracts the mature customers, but I've frequented Park St. Tavern for 9 years. So I've definietly acted a fool here. Things I love about Park St. Tavern. Great bar tenders. I've always had great service here and it topped out at awesome the last time we stopped in for beers. They allowed us to sample drafts at no extra charge and were super helpful. Their prices are reasonable. They have a fun draft selection. They have great live music. The staff said they take a lot of care in choosing the bands they have come in. They don't serve food. It's nice to be somewhere that's JUST a bar. Things that could be better would include better restroom cleanliness when it starts to get late. More room around the pool tables (that would be impossible). Better juke box selection, and even though I understand why they ask for it, I wish there was no cover. None of these things stop me from going to park St. Tavern and all the good stuff will keep me coming back. read more

Went here on a Tuesday night for a Jazz Jam. It was a very laid back atmosphere and the band played near the front door. Bathrooms are upstairs and it looks like there may be a room for special events up there. The drinks are very reasonable but the only snack is popcorn, so eat ahead of time. The bar/grub next door is gross and the Market is closed for the night. Seating is plentiful and there is a place to play pool and pinball. Bar tenders are friendly. I came here after a show at the LC for the second time recently... (the first time I was here, I can only recall that I was here... ha!) The beer selection is ok.. nothing to go crazy over. What was really fun for me was the live band karaoke that they have every Wednesday. Wish I would have known about this a long time ago! It's so cool to get up and sing karaoke with a live band playing the music behind you. Really adds to the experience. I read that they have a rooftop patio area... that's next on my list to explore. I love this bar. And if you are like me, into live good music, then would also love this bar too. They have a great selection of local and Ohio acts through out the week from Jazz to funk to alternative to Reggae. It is by far the best bar in downtown for live music not to mention the ambience isn't too bad either. Even thought it's located on the main strip I would consider the Tavern a some what low key bar even though is located, in the heart of the area clubbing district. Most of the frequents at the Tavern are mature working class that are more into about live music and an enjoyable atmosphere, very opposite from your typical "Arena District" crowd. It is a very small bar compared to the neighboring bars that consist large crowded over priced bars and clubs. I would give the Tavern a six star if I could. read more

From the looks of things, this has to be one of the oldest bars in this up-and-coming entertainment district on the fringe of downtown Columbus. If the crowd here is any indicator, Park Street Tavern may as well have been around since the turn of the century. The floors and support beams lend to a creaky and almost dive-y feel at times, but other than that I'd say that this is a pretty nice place. It's casual and has a lived-in feel to it, which would certainly explain the preponderance of middle-aged couples that clearly paid a baby sitter a night's worth of wages so they could get drunk on red wine and dance the night away to whatever band is playing live that evening. Fortunately for youngsters like me, it's pretty hard to feel left out of the action here. Unlike most of the other bars that make up this bustling nightlife district, the crowd here is as friendly as they come. There's not one specific group of people you'd find here in larger numbers than another, which means that it's anyone's game here on a weekend night. The live music here is generally comprised of cover bands that crank out the hits your parents used to rock out when they drove you around town in your youth, so it's hard not to feel at least a small bit of nostalgia while some drunk guy from Dublin and his bleach-blond wife make fools of themselves to "Play That Funky Music, Whiteboy" in front of god knows how many people. Chances are they're someones parents, and they don't get to do this too often. Might as well join them while you can, right? Other than the live music, everything else about Park Street is fairly standard. The bad has popular post-college drinks like Stella and Blue Moon on tap, there's a cramped patio out back filled with smokers, and the bathrooms are so-so. This isn't my favorite bar in town, but it's certainly one of the best that the Arena District has to offer. read more
