You get what you pay for. There are specials on Thursday after 9PM (and I think Wednesday) if you go through the website. It's a headache and a long process to sign up, but worth it if you're on a budget. Guy at the front desk just stared at us when we walked in, no greeting. Then he tried cracking some jokes that made me uncomfortable. I think he was new because he kept asking his manager/coworker questions. Music was blasting at the front desk, too loud to communicate with the front desk guy. Overall- Quirky place, I'd go back. From the Yelp responses, the owner seems like a cool guy. They don't open until 4 P.M. and when you show up shortly after 5, you are told you can't bowl because they have leagues coming in at 6. I was also told probably not a good idea to come tomorrow because the have 91 people coming. If I were to show up right at 4 on Friday I could probably bowl then. We called before we came great customer service over the phone and they had vip lanes and regular lanes open in a Saturday night so I was happy about that.prices was affordable but the food was ridiculous the bar is so packed and that the only way to order food and drinks and I ordered a philli cheesesteak because another person was raving about how good it was we only was there for an hour and I waited over 35 minutes and she never came with the food.I went to the bar 3 times and it was so busy and there where a lot of people complaining about there food. I'm totally confused as to how to review Gator Lanes in a way that's helpful to other users. When we were looking for a bowling alley in the Fort Myers area (rainy vacation day-- boo), I browsed Yelp and had a really hard time telling what was what, so I really do want to help. Part of that is imparting the strangeness of this place. I feel obligated to rate Gator Lanes low because the facilities are in rough shape. That said, the staff was friendly, the prices were low, and we had a great time, so do with this rating what you will. As they say, there's an ass for every seat. First, older reviews are misleading. The kids zone/ball crawl is no more. That area is just standing unused, the equipment is kind of piled in the corner. What's left of the bowling alley is a handful of lanes in a warehouse-feeling room. The "VIP" area half of the lanes, lit with a few glow lights, separated by a very large black curtain. The setup is pretty minimal. They have a super old school computer scoring system, and no fancy tv screens, etc. Something about the feel inside almost reminds me of a really old ice rink or roller rink. Other patrons were families trying to escape the weather and groups of seniors, seemingly regulars. There is a lounge with a few games, including darts, and some pretty standard bar fare. Draft list was decent, and there were flyers around for band tribute nights that seem to happen on the regs. They seem to have a patio with twinkly lights where events are staged. They did have a good selection of balls for various size/skill level people, lots of shoes, "gator ramps" to help the little kids bowl, and friendly staff. They don't have any of the creature comforts we're used to these days at a bowling alley, and maaaaybe it wasn't super clean. I went outside at one point because reception was bad, and junk was strewn along the side of the building. If you're super thrifty and just want to bowl-- go for it. If you want to split a pitcher, throw some darts and be left alone-- recommend. If you want to get tipsy and sway back and forth to your favorite 70s/80s soft rock cover band-- stupendous. If you don't like grit and grime, don't like surprises, or want a more standard 21st century bowling experience, look elsewhere read more

Do not go to Gator Lanes! The only reason why I came here was because it wasn't a chain bowling alley, and because it was close where we were staying. The staff member Lindsey was great, she printed out my score. When we were bowling on lane 1 there was a group of people walking to the back of the place playing video games. When I was bowling there was no oil on the lane, and the lane was hallow when I threw the ball. I only bowled three games, and I got out of there. I don't recommend coming to Gator Lanes! read more

Gator Lanes has gone through a facelift! Well...sort of. They've vamped up the look of the lanes and seating in the main area (the bar area seems untouched). I'm definitely a fan of the new seating options--I don't think I've ever felt that 'clean' in a bowling alley. They now offer 'Cyber Lanes' that are complete with dark, ambient lighting and bright lights featured by the pins. Pitchers of beer here are very reasonably priced (I believe it was $7 plus tax for a pitcher of Yuengling) and they have your typical bowling alley menu (fries, pizza, etc.). FYI, I totally won both games my date and I played. Boo-ya. read more

Super neat place. They have trampolines that the kids can pay and jump on and a small little arcade. Not to mention a full bar that has a few gaming machines for the adults and some tasty food. Half of the lanes are regular, light on games, the other half are dark so u can "glow bowl" anytime. Very nice staff, reasonably priced (56$ for four people with 2 games and shoe rental) and clean. No smoking on the inside, but they have a covered section to smoke outside. Definitely will go back next time we're in Cape Coral. read more

This place is a blast from the past. Gator lanes reminds me of the early 90's bowling alleys I went to as a kid. Here people can enjoy bowling without all the overhead of new lanes. I'm not a professional bowler. I don't need high tech computers or animations... I like space to have fun with my friends and lanes that work... I'm easy to please. They have some money saving deals to fill the lanes during the evenings. I usually go on Thursdays. For $25 they have unlimited bowling for 3 hours, sodas, pizza and draft beers starting at 7pm. Last time I visited my friends and I rolled 3 games. After that, we moved over to the separate bar area for beers, darts and baseball games. The bar area is wide open and flush with flat screens to watch your favorite game. read more

Gator Lanes is everything that a bowling alley off of Rte 41 should be. Lots of lanes, clean and not overpowering tunes or flashing lights. We sampled the food, which was fine, and the drinks were reasonably priced. Good place for kids too - no sketchy elements loitering in the parking lot :-) Plenty of open lanes on a Saturday night, which was convenient for our last-minute decision to bowl a few frames. read more

This is just a review of the kids fun spot inside Gator Lanes. I purchased two Groupons for $26 each for the kids to play in the trampoline and play area. For $52 this place was trash. It was dirty and not safe for small children. I specifically called before we went and asked if the kid area would be open after 5pm and about leagues, as I knew it was a bowling alley. James told me that there were leagues later but the trampoline area would be open "No problem". We arrived and there was a guy working on new padding on one of the trampolines. We were told to use the other one. He told my kids to "Jump over the crap!" (Old padding) After about 10 minutes kids were told to move to the other trampoline for age 8 and under because leagues were coming. Immediately the boys age 10 said the trampoline was super tight and hardly bouncy (I am assuming for younger kids not to go flying around). I had my toddler on that one and sent the older kids to the play area. Once we went to the area slide and inside playground we noticed all of the tables were dirty and sticky. (Please know there were no customers in the whole place before the leagues arrived.) There was old food and a cup on the table too. The netting around the trampoline was not sucured and very unsafe, even a slight brush against it and a child would fall out. We notified the desk and the staples it in one spot and told me it's not for kids to lean against (mind you this was inside a trampoline area where child bounce around.....lol). Took my family to bowl on a Sunday afternoon. We stood at the front counter for 15 minutes being walked past by employees, not one of them said a word to us. Not even a "we'll be right with you". Customer service is lacking. Even at the bar. They had 3 regular lanes available with but apparently none with bumpers, so they had to put us on the VIP side and charged us more for it. 2 stars only because the food was okay. Supposedly it's been remodeled but it still looks outdated. A group of teenagers bowling next to us we're out of control, running down lanes, throwing balls at the machinery as an employee watched drinking a soda but never said a word. The next group to come in were so loud and out of control we finally had to leave we paid for 3games and left after 2. What an out of control dump! NEVER AGAIN!! We read the reviews prior to going. Chose based on location to other activities. wasn't expecting much, just bowling for the family on a rainy day. They advertised a "kids zone" with video games, play area/ball pit and "trampoline". Upon arrival the kids zone turned out to be a closed area with remnants of the previous endeavor. Long gone are the days of kids playing in a play area filled with video games and bouncing away. Bowling was fine and decent food (typical fried fare) Two stars for the lack of the kids zone. Would have been nice to have known that what was advertised was no longer available. Upon exiting the alley I noticed a sad sight. The dismal remains of what appeared to be a bounce house. The reason we went to this joint was the promise of bowling and arcade games. I don't really know what to touch on first. The cost of our two games in an alley with garbage air conditioning and miserable pin resetting was absurd. This was a super casual game of bowling and we were sweltering the entire time. Alright, fine. We'll play arcade games. While the selection of games was awesome, approximately 75% of them were broken. There was also a weird split of tokens vs quarters. The staff person we worked with was rude, but I would be too if I worked day in day out under the mocking gaze of a broken air hockey table. I went there with my kids over the weekend. The place is a little outdated but adequate as far as upkeep of the lanes and equipment. My only real issue is that it was so hot. I'm of average size 5'7 , 125 lbs and I've lived here for 15 years so I'm accustomed to the heat but It had to be 85 or higher in this place. When I went outside it actually felt cooler. Half way through our first game I brought it to the managements attention. They said they would turn the AC down, but by the end of our third game, it was just unbearable and we had enough. We had paid for four games but left after three. I don't think we'll be going back to this location again. read more
