We recently hosted a sip-and-see for our daughter at Gatsby's on the Ocean, and the experience was absolutely amazing from start to finish. From the planning stages through the day of the event, the entire team went above and beyond. Heather and Elise were incredibly easy to work with and truly took the time to understand exactly what we wanted. They were so accommodating, allowing us to visit the space multiple times to plan layouts and details, and even giving us extra time for setup and breakdown. They also graciously helped handle and store our items after the event, which made everything so much less stressful. On the day itself, the coordinators and staff were all so warm, kind, and attentive. The atmosphere was perfect, and everyone felt welcomed and taken care of. Our guests were in great spirits, and the team did so much behind the scenes to make the day feel special and seamless. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and overall the hospitality was top-notch. We truly couldn't have asked for a better experience and can't recommend Gatsby's highly enough for anyone looking to host an event in a beautiful setting with an incredible team supporting you every step of the way. Came for lunch after a walk in on the boardwalk. Gatsby is an event place but they also have a restaurant called the Roar Bar which is a rooftop. My review is only for the roar bar. There was a special for lobster roll before 3pm and took advantage of that to try it out. Lobster roll comes warmed or cold, had good amount of lobster in it, comes with side of fries and small salad. I loved the lobster roll. For appetizer the fried calamari was good although it was small pieces. My guest had shrimp tacos that also came with a side of fries. Had white wine (forgot the name) but it was good although they ran out of the Josh brand I wanted. Most importantly, the diligence and competence of the entire Gatsby team, especially Heather and John, made everything from the planning to the actual party so seamless and stress free it was a joy! They accommodated us at every turn, their expertise helping us with any challenge we encountered. Both of them are like family now. Saw that they are open and have happy hours and thought we would stop by for a drink support business etc. There was a family in front of us, we lined up behind. The place looked like it had 2-3 tables but the hostess nowhere to be found. All 5 wait staff inside working saw us, NONE even waved or made eye contact to acknowledge us waiting. Several made rounds passed us looking like they were looking for the hostess but again NONE of them even gave us a slight wave. After standing there for 20 minutes feeling invisible we left. So I had read the other reviews and went with my sons anticipating more bad then good. The enclosure dining area is simply acoustically horrible avoid that. That room sounds like a elementary school lunch room. Dining outside is limited and my first question is why.? Every waitstaff member was struggling with a poorly designed food and bar pick up. Not one member of that staff is not a hard working person. The food was above good. We all had the lobster roll and were happy. So what is wrong. well as reported in earlier reviews more help is needed. I have attached a picture of the access food for waitstaff to access each and every time a drink of food needs to be picked up.The door itself does not even have a push bar for staff to use making them carry food and repeatedly touch a door handle at the same time. Situations like this lead to contamination and staff injuries. To think that so much money has been invested and such a bad physical layout is being used my only hope is to see this place on Restaurant Impossible. Great potential is being wasted by poor upper managerial decisions I feel. Tweaking some, this place could be a win win for management and diners. So this eve the wife says to me that a coworker happened to be in the interior dining room the very same night as we were. That person referred to their experience as a Cluster/. Cannot recommend Gatsby highly enough! Due to life circumstances, my partner and I decided to get married about 5 weeks in advance. While we were initially worried about planning a wedding with such short notice, Elyse immediately put our fears at ease. Leading up to the day, Elyse was incredibly responsive and really listened to what we wanted the day to look like. The venue is beautiful and required nothing extra to make it wedding ready. The day of the wedding was everything we had pictured! The food was delicious and the family style meal was a hit with our guests. This place has a ton of potential. Great ambiance! They had a fantastic 60's invasion band playing, but the service was not good. Our waitress did not know the drink menu, and she switched our burgers. She gave me the well done and my friend the medium rare. Of course we bit into them before figuring it out. Went to the Gatsby after a long time waiting. Been going for years, even before the new owners took over and renamed it. Not a good experience this visit. The lobster roll has changed. There must be a new chef. Not as much mayo and they added celery (yuck). Did not like it and won't be ordering it again. Why not keep what works? No wine selection at all. I attended a wedding on August 27, 2021 and the servers were completely unorganized & inexperienced therefore the service was unacceptable Number one They didn't prepare for rain aka a beach wedding without a tent no preparations were made just in case , the forecast said rain there should have been more communication to prepare the bride and groom that there may be a change in plans The person in charge could not make a valid decision waited too long Relying on the bride to make the decisions. Applicable decisions should've been made before hand as soon as the bride and groom got there the forecasted rain So by the time they brought the chairs inside to have the wedding inside everything was wet and there was no room. Mishap with the seating arrangements made it worse Number two Setting the inside up was a disaster They were too slow amd unprofessional Because they were relying on the guest being outside they didn't prepare for cocktail hour no drinks or water or bar ready No service to the guests for at least a half an hour to an hour No-one service the bathrooms during the wedding Anyone sitting outside was never passed food so they skipped outside completely so if you were a guest and you weren't at your table you missed the appetizers Number three there was a miscommunication with seating arrangements The person that made all the arrangements for the bride & groom was not present at all I'm my opinion the person in charge had no experience Especially the young lady that was supposed to be there to liaison for the bride I would never recommend this place for a wedding or even dinner read more

Despite reading mixed reviews I went to dinner here before a concert tonight. I couldn't have been happier with the experience from start to finish. We sat at the bar where Pietro was our bartender and I don't know what was better, the drinks or his service. The food was outstanding as well and far from over priced. Drinks were nine dollars which is less than most places that don't have half the view or ambience. We shared the lobster roll, oysters, chicken and the antipasto and I don't have one complaint. Great place to go while you are at Jones Beach enjoying the sun. You can get something to eat with cocktails. I had the Rum Punch which hit the spot. I was impressed with the manager. I dined at Gatsby's last night and I think the food and cocktails were awesome. I very rarely finish an entree and I just couldn't stop eating it. It's a beautiful setting, the drinks were extremely good as the food was as well. I will certainly be back and I wish them much success. Worth the trip! read more
