4 of us went to Sonny's today. Had a very unfortunate incident. When the waiter brought the food to the table he spilled butter on my wife's brand new $140 leather purse and the deck where we were sitting outside. (Which they refused to clean up no matter how many times they were asked to. I) I can't gripe about the food. It was very good and they comped us for all of it. They would only say they were sorry. No payment for the purse that is ruined. So I guess it goes in the trash. We asked over and over for the manager who we were told was not there. I guess we expected more , sadly we didn't get it. I had a very disappointing experience at Sonny's. We waited over 30 minutes, and not a single waiter came to take our order. Meanwhile, another couple arrived after us and was served almost immediately. I even asked a young server for assistance, and although he said someone would come, no one ever did. To make matters worse, the floor was sticky, and the restaurant did not feel clean or welcoming. When we finally decided to quietly leave, no one acknowledged us or seemed to notice that we were walking out without ever being served. Unfortunately, the lack of service and attention made us feel completely overlooked. I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience. read more

The food was great and the band was just wonderful. Though with our party of 8, 2 people waited an extra 20-25 minutes to get their food. We were celebrating a birthday and we waited 45 minutes for them to do cake when we literally gave them cake and candles. After that it took them an extra 10 to cut the cake. Not to mention the bill came 20 minutes after that. I was so tired of waiting and by the time we left we were there for 2 and a half hours. If you come here just be prepared to wait for your food. read more

This place has been completely remodeled since I was last there. It is a beautiful, comfortable place to stop for lunch or dinner. We ordered a shrimp cocktail that was absolutely delicious. We shared the goat cheese salad, also excellent. The lobster roll was nothing to get excited about. The fried oyster appetizer was excellent, prepared perfectly. They also have a very good strawberry lemonade. We didn't try any of the desserts. The service was attentive, but we never felt rushed. I look forward to going back on a day where it is not too hot to sit outside on the deck, which is right on the canal. read more

Parking around the venue and street parking. We were on the boat all day and easy access to just walk over. The outdoor vibes were great. Waiters were very sweet and friendly. The Rum a'Rita was so refreshing after being in the sun all day. The waiter took the kids order first which was so great. Food came out in good timing. From the moment I walked in here the atmosphere was fun and inviting the staff were very friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcomed right away. The lively waterfront setting with music and the kind servers set the tone for a great meal. I ordered the shrimp scampi with the refreshing margarita. The dish was amazing. The Shrimp was cooked to perfection in a some rich flavorful sauce and the portion was generous, It filled me up! The margarita also complemented the meal so well. Friendly staff good food , drinks not expensive. 100% recommended in addition katland the head bartender is , cool and respectful, all guest are welcomed, great place for corporate, law enforcement, military, and family parties and get togethers. Fun spot for waterside vibes, bar food, drinks, and live music. Inside reminds me of a huge dive bar, the outside patio feels like vacation. The food is fine, it's bar food so you know what you're in for. We had the kung pao calamari, tuna tartare, and the pig ass sandwich (pulled pork with cheese) with sweet potato fries. It's been quite a while since I stepped foot in Sonny's. I returned this evening and was absolutely blown away by the changes! I liked it before but now, wow.. what an incredible job they did on the transformation. What hasn't changed however is the service.. it's as incredible as I remember. I ordered a new england clam chowder and chicken caesar salad. Both were super delicious and tasted quite fresh. I haven't had a drop of alcohol in about 3 months so I stuck with a shirley temple. Planned group dinner for Saturday night. Band we enjoyed was scheduled. Found out through Facebook that band was cancelled 4 days before. Appears Sonny's has scheduling problems or other issues. You lost our business for Saturday and your April calendar now seems to have disappeared. Check to see if they still have live music if that is why you are going. read more

Food was very good. I had a wedge salad with grilled chicken and I liked it. But the service was terrible. There were 8 people at my table. Three people got their food. Then 3 people at another table. Then 2 more at our table. Then the last 3 meals came. Easily 10 minutes between first and last. Our waiter took our order. It's about an hour later and we haven't seen him again. The restaurant is quite busy and obviously very short on help. Not coming back anytime soon. read more

New renovations, still great food. Been coming here for a few years, we have friends in the area and usually meet up with them. We went solo tonight. Got there around 4:30 on a Saturday and was able to get a table out on the deck. Had the calamari, mussels and stuffed shrimp. Everything was perfect and Logan was great as our waiter. read more

Really like the outdoor seating on the water and the smoking area set up (with tv). Food was good, indoor seating also has water views. Seating by the bar is spacious if a bit noisy. Staff wasn't always knowledgeable about the venue but very attentive. I'll be back to sit at the bar and eat, see how the bar crowd is. JUNE 2025: While this is still a fave, it is less so in recent years. As with many places, "upgrades" need to be well thought out. Not all of theirs over the past few years have been. And their biggest attractions are no longer on their offerings. First off, one of the biggest attractions was a large backyard patio that overlooks the boat moorings and canal. It must have held 15+ tables, which lead to a lot of people having a lot of fun on that porch. They have since extended the restaurant building better than halfway into that porch, leaving just a single row of tables, maybe 6-7. The inside is all glassed, but the feeling of sitting at the water isn't the same. Even outside, it isn't that big party anymore. When we first started patronizing the place the food was near gourmet. We were super-impressed. And while the prices were not cheap before, they were at least reasonable. Especially given the quality of the food. And its PRESENTATION. But recent trips over we have seen the food quality, likely just chef capability, drop from hugely delish to "very nice". And at the same time the presentation (ie the "plating") and quality have dropped. Nothing terrible, just noticeably not as good. And finally the prices have gone way up. Their BBQ burger is one of my favorites. It used to be $16, or maybe $16.99. It's now $23. That's an almost 50% bump in price. Which lead to our brunch this weekend, a burger, a steak & eggs, a coffee and one cocktail coming in at over $70. $90 with tip. The value proposition once offered, has become more strained. read more

Just went here with friends. The service was great, everyone was very nice and accommodating. I had the Atlantic Salmon and it was ok, not great. It had a teriyaki sauce on it. It came with rice and mixed vegetables. The rice didn't have any flavor and I believe the vegetables were steamed and they were just ok. I wish I had ordered something else bc everyone else enjoyed their food. The burgers are delicious and the Pig's Ass Melt was also very tasty. read more

A great Yelp event hosted by Jared. Wow!! It was awesome to finally get out as things are getting back to normal. Seeing everyone without masks, shaking hands and giving hugs was just so invigorating. It was a very pleasant evening at Sonny's Canal House, a beautiful deck on the water with plenty of tables for us to spread out. We were served apps for the entire evening, Potato Skins with cheese, bacon and Sour cream, stuffed clams, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings and fried calamari and chips with spinach cheese dip. All of the food was awesome especially the fried calamari, my fav. I had 2 beers with my drink coupons, a Blue Moon and a Sam Adams on tap, very refreshing on a hot evening and went perfect with all the apps we were served. The staff was amazing bringing out all the food. I went to get a beer at the bar, gave a tip and received a very polite appreciative thank you. Awesome service.... After a long year and several months in quarantine it was great catching up with some old friends, Bill S, Frank T, Lisa and Lee, Meri, Samantha, Chris, Hope, Gail, Valerie, and some new friends Kelly and Bianca. Great food, service, weather, friends and conversations made it a wonderful event. Hopefully will catch up with some old friends at the next event. I had no idea Sonny's existed in my hometown. What a pleasant surprise. The food was great. The servers were attentive and the drinks did their job. Can't ask for much more. This is the perfect place to bring the family or hang out with friends. The vibe is very relaxing by the canal. You can see kayakers and boaters coming and going by. The covered patio offers great shade from the sun. I'm told they have live bands and Sunday brunches. I will be back for both. Surprise bills. The check came out $91 then I gave the waitress Sharon my credit card, I got notification in my credit card, I got charge 165.47. Wednesday special $5 for cosmo doesn't say what time is end. And then got hit for $24 for cosmo. Beware of when you go there .this is my first time writing review. When I walked into this place, I thought oh my God this is gonna be awesome. The food was amazing. We started out with the spinach dip and chips. Ended up taking one of them home. My husband had duck tacos with rice and I have the chicken franchise with mashed potatoes and vegetables. For dessert we had a Toffee pudding with ice cream on top with some coffee. The 6 of us decided to give it a try after a couple of years, big mistake. With the exception on the outdoor seating, everything else was underwhelming. Food was average at best, portions were small and prices high, a bad trifecta. Our waiter was wearing a Trump 2024 T-shirt which made us all feel uncomfortable. I have no problem with the owner's political views, but not a good business practice to allow your employees to wait tables shoving it in their clientle's faces. Great way to marginalize your customer base, we will never return. read more
