You know what came up when I Googled "veggie burger in Hudson"? Gauchao Burgers. A Brazilian burger place where their burgers are the size of Trump's ego, and the toppings are so messy you legit need to eat it in a bathtub. The last time I had one of these incredible concoctions, my deck looked like the buffet station after a wedding. I HIGHLY doubted that a place which prided itself on beef, layered with beef, with 20 slabs of bacon on top was going to actually offer veggie burgers...but they did! And I was dying to see what the Brazilian burger version of a veggie burger might be. $18 for a veggie burger with no sides (before tip) felt a little steep, until I lifted the bag and almost gave myself tendonitis. This thing was DENSE. The woman asked me if I wanted an extra side of "green sauce." I had no idea what it was, but I'm all about weird sauces so I nodded yes. I got home, and opened it up. The roll for this thing was massive, and lightly sweet. It was sloppy, in the best way: covered in that green sauce, with tons of cheese, a whole tomato, and raw onion. The veggie patty itself was huge, made from scratch, filled with carrots and peas. I don't normally love veggie burgers where you can see all the ingredients, but this one was REALLY good. It was also...almost an afterthought. Remember back in the day, when Burger King offered "veggie Whoppers"? And really, it was just a Whopper without the burger, but with all the other ingredients aside from that? This was kind of like that: the sweet bread, delicious cheese, and incredible sauce tasted so great together, you didn't really care about the actual burger. I would absolutely go back for another one of these, and if my gallbladder could still handle a giant burger without retribution? I'd be there all the time. For you burger lovers: this place is a must-go. Even if you're not a beef fan, their chicken sandwiches are next level. Gauchao is tucked away on a side street filled with triple deckers, a total hidden gem. You'll never simply stumble upon it, even though it's only 4 minutes from Hudson center. Go. Did you recently spend the week dieting? Do you want to blow that hard earned 2000 calorie deficit you racked up? This is the place. This is a delicious burger joint with chicken sandwiches that sort of steal the show (chicken-X was a slam dunk IMO). It's visibly very clean, and seemly recently renovated. It's a bit pricier: $19 for the sandwich and a can of soda. Although the sandwich is totally worth it, the single Coke Zero was $2.50, sort of steep... Definitely a slam dunk. It's the sort of place that makes me want to come to it after a movie. Like, movie at 7:00, get out at 9:00, it's dark out, you and your boo zip over here for a late night burger???? The Guachao burger was worth the price! It has everything the X-Tudo has but they add either fried chopped steak or chicken. The steak version was delicious and filling! The combination of flavors is absolutely delicious!! The service was adequate. They have a big variety of different foods to choose from but the burgers are amazing! After our fishing trip, we were getting hungry and decided to stop in at Gauchão Burgers for dinner. This neighborhood eatery seemed very busy when we arrived Saturday evening. The place is order at the counter and there are several tables for eating in. It took a couple minutes before we were able to place and pay for our order at the counter. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana over Linguini ($11.99) and a Double Cheeseburger Combo ($8.99) with fries and can of soda. My buddy ordered the Salad of the House ($13.99) and 2 glass bottles of Mexican Coke (real cane sugar). We took a seat at an open table near the counter and our food was brought out, one dish at time starting with the Chicken Parmigiana over Linguini which was a generous plate of two tender breaded chicken cutlets topped with melted provolone cheese & parsley and savory tomato sauce smothered with soft cooked linguini. The Double Cheeseburger was huge with two firm grilled beef patties, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato slices, onions,and pickles between a soft sweet Portuguese burger bun. The good amount of battered golden fries had a slight salty flavor. I also grabbed a Canada Dry Ginger Ale can from the cooler. The Salad of the House had a mix of iceberg lettuce, tomato, egg, onions, cranberries, hearts of palm, corn, olives, and juicy pieces of grilled chicken, green sauce. The food was very tasty and filling and both of us needed to go boxes for our dinners. The place was very busy during our visit and the staff was very accommodating as well. read more

But if my favorite juice provider recommends a burger, AND its local, I HAD TO TRY! Wouldn't you know GrubHub shared a coupon and I thought, LETS DO THIS. SLAP ME. TWICE. THIS BURGER. IS IT. THE burger. THE MOTHER BURGER. I really didn't understand the term "Brazilian Burger". Sure, had a great one at Welleys in Hudson, slap an egg on it and call it Caipirinha... NOPE. As good as they are, this burger will put you in your place. Bound you. In knots. And turn you upside down. Grub Hub did a great job and the burger comes LOVINGLY wrapped in a diaper (ok, not pretty but you get the idea). ITS HUGE as wide as it is TALL. This burger had a fluffy bun that was fresh, stick to the roof of your mouth pillowy. Mayo. Moz. Burger. Medium. Ham. Bacon. Lettuce. Corn. Crunchy potato stix. We did that. We did it. And we would shamefully do it again. Their menu is homey and I can't wait to get their yuca fries with some deliciousness attached to it. For now, I bask in the afterglow of this burger. I have held out for a long time to indulge in a burger. I went full throttle. And there is no going back from here. read more

First visit a couple weeks ago to grab a bite to eat w/my husband. We arrived late afternoon/early evening and were the only customers in the place. We ordered two burgers and two drinks. I had the X-File (steak), he had the X-Galinha (chicken) Bacon. The steak was absolutely awful! Half of the pieces were tough as shoe leather and impossible to chew, and the remainder was at mostly fatty gristle and completely inedible. His sandwich was okay at best, though far from exciting. Sad to say the food did nothing to elevate my experience of Brazilian fare. At nearly $50 for two burgers and two drinks I expected so much better than this. We will not be back. read more

This is my favorite type of restaurant - the humble neighborhood eatery making authentic food for dislocated immigrants who want the taste of home. In this case, Brazilian burgers and other favorites. It is so good. We got the X-tudo burger and Chicken Calipury??, and a large side of fried yucca. First of all, the portions are huge. But the taste is what really makes this place a keeper. The construction of the sandwich is impressive. The potato sticks are genius - they give a crisp crunch that is deeply satisfying. The cilantro mayo adds flavor depth and creaminess. Everything perfectly balanced. All in a plastic pouch that keeps the sandwich together and keeps your hands and mouth relatively mess-free. The first bite sent an instant and intense rush to my brain. Yum. This place will now be a regular part of my rotation. read more

The pros: 1. It's a cool, bright little space to have a meal. 2. The staff was friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves. 3. The X-tudo burger was huge (big enough for 2 meals) and a great price at 12 bucks. 4. The little guava paste cookies we got to go were excellent. The cons: 1. They probably cook all their burgers well done, so it was a bit on the dry side. 2. The corn and the potato sticks added nothing to the burger. 3. The onion rings from the freezer were odd, very dark brown but not burnt. They have plenty of different options so I'm sure there are better items to be had. read more

We've visited twice. Tried one of the extremely large burger sandwiches with a zillion ingredients, the chicken and rice, and the chicken and vegetables. Ask for green sauce. Ask for extra green sauce; you will want more. Ask for hot sauce too. The rice is fabulous, garlicky and a little oily, with each grain separate not sticky. The chicken was moist and tasty. The veggies were plentiful and nicely cooked. Green sauce! Great little restaurant. We will be back! read more
