First, their front desk staff are rude and overzealous. If you are ill, you can be expected to wait 2 months for the next available appointment or go to an urgent care, when your physician might have squeezed you in. The scheduling only seems to allow for well-patient visits. This may be because UH requires that each visit last only for 15 minutes, putting pressure on physicians to be caring, accurate, and able to diagnose and treat every single thing in 15 minutes. This is not the fault of the practitioners, but rather the system. And is reflected in UH's low abysmal ratings. But really, the front desk staff is reliably awful at this location.

I made several visits to my dentist through the years and a few to my PCP, no one could help me! In January, I developed a bump behind my molars so I decided to try the dentist again. After a visit to another dentist who referred me to an oral surgeon, I was told I had a cyst and an impacted wisdom tooth close to the jaw bone. It needed to be taken care of asap but another surgeon would need to do it. After an ordeal with finding an oral surgeon, an appointment with Dr.Krajekien was made. I was so defeated by the time I walked into his office and figured it would be the same old same old. He assured me that we were going to resolve this. He was so kind and compassionate and understanding. I told him what was happening and he told me about the VR that he uses in surgery that would show him exactly what was happening in my mouth. After dealing with this for so long and now adding the cyst to the problem and listening to Dr. Krajekien, I knew VR would be my best option. It would show the most accurate analysis of what was causing the tongue issue and help determine the best way to eliminate the cyst and hopefully the intense tingling. I walked out of his office with renewed hope!! He and his team were great with finding appointments that would fit into my husband's and I's busy schedule. The day of surgery he was upbeat making sure I was comfortable, happily answering any last minute questions. Once in the OR he was so kind and compassionate, making sure my anxiety was under control for the brief moments I was conscious. During surgery his team kept my family updated every step of the way. After surgery my jaw was still intact, my cyst and wisdom tooth gone and I felt no pain. The surgery went quickly and smoothly I believe due to the VR aspect in preparing for my surgery. In the days after surgery I was able to contact Dr.Krajekian with any questions or concerns. I am on day 7 of my recovery and have had very little pain and no tingling tongue!!! She took time to show me where my tooth was cracked and explained that even with a root canal, due to the crack it will always be a problem and get infected. Although I hate the thought of losing my tooth, I so appreciate the truth. Dr. Tessaro is not only awesome, she's honest! She put the person before the dollar!!! (When does that ever happen?) When Dr. Roger Hess entered the room, instead of focusing on the appointment, he began offering explanations for his late arrival. I made it clear that the excuses were not my concern and that I wanted to move forward with the appointment professionally. What immediately stood out to me was that while I was addressing the situation, he was smiling and laughing, which came across as dismissive and unprofessional given the circumstances. Shortly after that, it became obvious he had not reviewed my referral and did not even know why I was there. At one point, he commented that he would need to read through the 10-page VA referral during the appointment itself, which confirmed he was completely unprepared. As both a veteran and a counselor, I understand healthcare offices can run behind at times. However, being over an hour late, unprepared, and unfamiliar with the reason for the visit is not acceptable--especially after a patient drives a significant distance for care. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating and unproductive medical appointments I have experienced.
