This place SHOULD NEVER EVER be used as a mechanic shop -- EVER. I've been dealing with this dealership for over a year, and what I experienced is beyond unacceptable. For a whole year, I requested tire rotations, and every single time they refused and told me I "didn't need it." Then after a full year they suddenly said, "OMG how come you never did a tire rotation?" Wow. Just unbelievable. This place lied to me, wasted my time, and TOOK MY MONEY. The service manager said he would "look into who made the mistake," and of course he never took any action. I paid $1,500 for Toyota brakes and rotors that lasted only 25,000 miles. I have NEVER had brakes in my life fail before even 30,000 miles. My previous brakes lasted 40,000 miles every single time. When I brought this up, all I got was nonsense excuses, zero help, and zero responsibility. This service department is only known for taking your money and pushing services you don't need. They will talk to you with zero respect and try to charge you thousands for things you don't need. I'm WARNING everyone: STAY AWAY from this service department if you care about your money and your car. As a loyal customer, I trusted them -- until I saw the game they're playing. This experience was a straight-up scam in my opinion and completely unacceptable. I will also be contacting Toyota corporate about this. read more

Purchased a 2021 Hybrid Highlander, they lied about replacing the battery before purchase, later when the car did not start and I had to return it, they again lied and did not replace the battery. Skip forward to colder weather, the battery completely dies and needs to be replaced. Which of course is not covered under warranty. read more

Parts and service are a rip off. We were loyal customers for years and years but no more. We bought 4 tires for our Rav4 but they wore out far too quickly in half of the expected mileage. Always broght the car there for maintenance and inspection but I guess they dont check tires or recommend rotation. Asked for a pro rated credit under the warranty and provided their records for the manufacturer. Crickets. Never heard back. Had to buy a new set of 4. Whether they were aware of it or not, Gault sold me a car that needed severe engine repair right off the bat. I noticed a subtle noise a couple of weeks in. What left a bad taste in my mouth was how disinterested they were in helping me fix it. After fighting with about 10 people on the phone over the course of several days, they helped me arrange repairs through a manufacturer's warranty. Had I not been covered, I would have been out of luck right there. The whole debacle took about 3 months to resolve and because it was warranty work, and every step of it was pulling teeth. Many of the employees were rude on the phone and inconsiderate of the situation. I was met with a lot of condescending attitude, as if I was inconveniencing them by trying to resolve issues that came with the car. After getting the car back, I'm still having problems. My husband and I purchased a car from a super sweet salesperson Holly so we decided to comeback and purchase another car for my mother in law and had a horrible experience with what they call their management team. The worst person was Sean with having a condescending attitude. This being said, we will never return for another vehicle from this dealership. They also sell BMW. The service was performed in a timely manner and the truck washed, at 8.000 miles I went under hood to check everything prior to a trip and found the oil filler cap missing! I couldn't believe it! I went in to buy a rav 4 knowing they have a good safety reputation. I ended up going in and dealing with someone who had me put down a deposit. I am a young female and do not know much about cars, I feel now I was blindsighted. Then I went to pick up the car, the finance man was beyond rude and couldn't even look me in the eye. The salesman didn't even have the car ready. I finally asked if I could test drive the car and he had to come with me? Never had I have that... besides the point that the interest was 7%. I was beyond turned off and the staff put a bad taste in my mouth that I walked out. The owner came running out to negotiate, telling me he'll "work the numbers and get back to me tomorrow." He was a pompous man and did not call me back. Now, they lost me, my boyfriend (who has been using toyota for years) as customers. BEWARE DO NOT PLACE $500 DEPOSIT!!! There are signs on the door, however, I learned it is ILLEGAL to have a non refundable deposit on something you didn't buy, not to mention not offer a test drive on. GAULT is a JOKE. The sleazy Business manager left such a bad taste in my mouth I almost walked away from the deal. It's like he wanted us to. After making it VERY clear we did not a warranty he pulled every sleazy trick in the book to scare my 85 year old grandmother into getting it. Signed some papers back in January for credit check and pre approval for a new 22 Toyota Tacoma. I was told I would received the truck in February, finally hear back with little to no updates on the trucks status and after called to see if I come get it I'm finally told later in the day the salesman called out sick. Drive up the next day to get , got put in the waiting from for 4 hours just to be told that the monthly payment was going to be 180 dollars more than what was on the original paperwork. The information provided to service was incorrect even though I went over it several times. The contact information was incorrect in file so I never received any confirmation email. Frankly disappointed overall. The staff lacks energy and could care less about providing service. Be VERY careful. This dealership is horrible, beware! Gault sales will straight up lie to you and hide things in your contract. The GM, Allen (if you can call him that as he's nowhere near management material) has no integrity and oddly tries to project and bury things further by blaming anyone other than them and staff... and service is just as bad, don't get me started. Today was so bad I'm not even going go into it, but let's just say that I'm surprised I had the composure to not show up there. When a person is as polite, respectful and as patient as I am, that says a ton!! This fiasco of a dealership is in a downward spiral as you can see and oddly they just don't care. ALERT - Had recall on my Toyota Corolla 2017. No charge. So i took in to have that work done. Of course get call, need new front brake pads. I said no thanks i have my own mechanic. My own mechanic is friend of 15 yrs with his own repair shop. Most honest mechanic i have ever known. He checked ALL brakes. Rear brake pads were hardly worn. FRONT brakes have 15,000 miles of pad left on them. I can only imagine how many people get "taken" by this type of service. That is like selling you 4 tires when only half worn! I am a fair person and this type of technique takes advantage of people who are trusting or not able to know they are getting repairs that are not needed. Who knows if recall work was even completed? When this goes on it makes me question everything. SALES- Talked to Sales manager via email back in early April. I was looking at getting 2020 Rav 4 if they came with zero interest. He explained they only were selling the 2019 at zero. I said ok but only interested in 2020. If he would call me if the 2020 Rav4 was available at 0% i would most likely buy.....A couple weeks later i noticed an advertisement that the 2020 Rav4 was now at 0% too. I expected a call but never received one. So after couple weeks moved on. So, we had still been shopping around. Last Friday we closed on 2020 Subaru Forester Premium. Love it! With yet another service issue with Gault so glad we did not buy another from them. Be careful. read more

As a toyota owner for the past two decades , I do my own regular maintenance on my toyota highlander, recently I went to gault toyota as I've previously done before to buy parts or getting parts number for my highlander. The guy at the parts window, who was not so pleasant about it, informed me that if I'm not buying the parts from them, then they cannot provide the parts number to me. There has never been a problem in the past about providing part numbers and I have never heard of such a thing at any other dealership, whether Toyota or any other car brand dealership. They had a great salesman! We bought a car from him 9 years ago. When we went back 4 years ago to replace that car he had left to go work at Jack Sherman. It's so odd when you walk in a girl asks if you have an appointment. To look at cars? No. Then the staff is in little cubicles and instead of coming out and helping you they all look at each other to imply it's their turn.... I wasn't going to write this but I have to speak my mind. In September of 2016 my wife was due for her lease to expire on her 2013 scion we went to Gault toyoya to see about her leasing a new Toyota Rav4. They didn't even try to work with her on the price so we went to Jack Sherman Toyota to deal with them. Excellent salesman and she leased a new Toyota Rav4 for exactly what she wanted in price. I bought a Truck from Gault in September of 2015 and had a good salesman but he left soon after. In January of 2016 I bought my son a Rav4 from Gault Auto Liquidators. Great salesman again. In June of 2016 I hit a deer and had decided that because I liked Gault to have my truck repaired there. "Big Mistake" they had my truck for 3 weeks and kept giving me the run around when I called to ask on the status. They had originally told me 2 days to have my truck fixed. When I called I was told my parts were on the ground waiting to get painted, on back order, not finished. After the third week of this and having to cancel my camping vacation since not having a means to toy it, I called and asked to speak to a manager or owner. Someone finally called me back after a nasty message that I had to leave on the his voicemail. He did however look into the problem for me and came back with a response of sorry the computer kept showing back order and your grill could take another month or 2 to come in. He also said I could have my truck back with the broken grill until the new one comes in. I accepted this because I needed my vehicle back. He also told me that when the new grill came in that someone would come and get my truck to replace the grill so I wasn't inconvenienced any longer. 2 weeks later the Grill came in and I had to deliver it to them and it took about 15 minutes to put on. As soon as my extended maintenance that I paid for is up I will no longer deal with Gault Toyota. Starting today 2-3-18 when I take a friend to purchase a new car at Jack Sherman I will continue to be a loyal customer to them myself. Who knows I might even buy a new car with them today myself. I may have never posted my review but when my friend asked for help buying a new car I instantly remembered my experience and she encouraged me to write this review. Cliff W. read more

I followed a recommendation from a family member who has always purchased from this place. They went above and beyond to get me in and out. Most places when they know you are out of town and the chances are slim you will ever purchase from them or have service done from them again make you feel like you are not a priority. Took it to the service dept to replace valve cover gaskets and get a tune up. They forgot to replace 4 engine bolts that they removed, they broke another bolt in half and just left it that way, and I had to have another mechanic tell me about it before I even knew. I returned the car and they replaced a few bolts, but said they just didn't have time to do the others. Gee, thanks. Then I asked them to send me the remaining bolts so I could do it myself, and they sent me the wrong ones. Not exactly good at what they do. Find a mechanic that you get to know personally who has several recommendations from mechanically minded people. Dealerships are bad service at a rip off price. read more

BEWARE -- I just had my daughters 2012 Rav4 in for the Lifetime Free Inspection service today. The advisor stated I needed two rear side marker lights replace in order to pass NYS inspection which I understand. He offered and showed me the both side lights were out (hum a little suspicious both burned out at the same time). He stated each side would cost about $10 labor which I balked about but ... he stated they had to remove the rear light assembly by removing the10 MM bolts to carefully pull the whole rear light assembly out in order to replace. I agreed to the work since the vehicle needed the lights for inspection and I was already there. After I returned home I learned this is NOT true!, to remove/replace the bulbs all that is needed is to open the rear door, remove the side molding snap in access panels, reach in and twist each light socket out and replace the bulb.... the bulbs were $1.99 each and they charged me $22.40 to open the back door, remove the each snap in side molding panel, reach in and twist each light socket out and replace the bulb. This was a less than 3 minute job total. So beware there is no Free Lifetime Inspection at Connie Gault's. I have found that they continually lie about needed service since I have 3 Toyota's that have been serviced there. read more

After purchasing 4 vehicles over 10 years from Gault Toyota, it is a shame the service department can't figure out how to replace a tire on short notice without tying me up for a whole day. I have a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime which does not come with a spare tire, only a temporary tire repair kit. I had a flat tire Wednesday evening which managed to fix with the repair kit. I call the service department Thursday to arrange for a new tire to be put on Saturday. I'm told to drop off the car early Saturday. I'm coming from an hour away, so when I get an email telling me the work is scheduled for 1:45 Saturday, I call the service department to tell them I'll drop off the car early in the afternoon. They tell me unless I drop off the car early Saturday, they won't look at it until Monday. I'm disgusted they can't figure out how to replace one tire for a good customer without tying the customer up for a whole day especially when they've scheduled the work for 1:45. read more

I felt that the staff and owner did everything possible to satisfy the customer. It was a horrible experience. I found a 2011 Certified 4Runner and flew from Arkansas to New York. Their 160 point checklist was a joke. The car I came in to buy wasn't ready (cross bars and mud flaps ordered that I confirmed were installed on Friday, weren't on) and took 1 hour. The first test drive we got 1/2 block on the "certified" 2011. It had clunking noise which became a 3 hour brake repair. During this 3 hour repair I found a $3500 body repair on the "non-wrecked" and "clean" car-fax report. The repair had been done at the dealership which is inexcusable. The next test drive (I was sent out alone, which is ludicrous after everything that's occurred) and within 2 blocks, I heard a humming come from the rear. After another 2 hours, they determined it needs a new rear end. No parts to complete repair within a reasonable distance. Ultimately I was forced into a 2015 which wasn't what I had budgeted for. Their take will be that they made a concession in the price to 30,000 and while I respect that, I didn't want a new vehicle for multiple reasons and spent 8000 more than the 2011 that I budgeted for. I was told the running boards, which were a must have from the first call, couldn't get done because the accessory installer had already left. I even listed it on the paper for what was still due. No follow up from the dealership. I called almost 2 weeks later for the pre-owned manager and received an email back that the GM Shawn would have to speak with me. I spoke with Shawn and he promised a call that afternoon. It took 6 days and a call to corporate Toyota to get a call. They also aren't honoring the running boards now. One of the comments made was that the tech who checked it out wasn't there any longer. I really don't care. If he did shoddy work, then recheck everything he touched. There was no reason for the dealership to not know about the wreck. I was in the showroom from 9:30a until almost 8p. Lack of follow up by GM and salesman to ensure parts had been installed properly. I specifically asked if he had had this vehicle out and everything worked properly. It was a horrible experience to someone who came in as a loyal Toyota owner. Moral: Go somewhere else (running). read more

Have been a Chrysler or Dodge owner my whole life. In 2014 I switched over to Toyota because of Toyota's excellent dependability rating. I own a 2014.5 Camry and on November 1 bought a brand new 2017 Sienna. Both vehicles were bought from Gault Toyota. My 2014 Camry turned 40,000 miles last week and I had to replace the back brakes. So much for dependability. I know brakes are a wear and tear part, but I have never had to put brakes on any vehicle I have owned before 75,000 miles. I have not driven this vehicle any differently than any other car I have ever owned. I went to Gault Toyota to complain about this problem and asked what they would do about it. I was told nothing and was basically told tough luck. I posted my problem on Toyota's Facebook page and was asked to call them, which I did so. I got basically the same answer, tough luck but there is nothing we are going to do about it. It does not appear to me that Gault nor Toyota will back their dependability claim and it does not appear to me that I am a valued customer, even though I have bought 2 brand new Toyota's. When I told the manager at Gault last week that I probably have bought my last Toyota the response I got was basically, to bad, have a nice day. Just got off the phone with Bob Gault (Tuesday around noon) and again was basically told by Mr. Gault, tough luck, Toyota will do nothing for you. I then asked what will Gault do for me. His response was "I did not build the car" and because the fault is with Toyota I will do nothing for you. Again I told Mr. Gault that I did not feel like a valued customer and probably have bought my last Toyota. His response was "I am sorry to hear that", but the tone, in my opinion, was nothing close to being sincere. I ended the conversation with the distinct impression that Mr. Gault could care less about losing me as a future Toyota owner. The remedy I would like is for Toyota to pay for the parts, but I would have accepted from anybody at Gault or Toyota to admit that brakes should not go at 40,000 miles and at least offer anything that would make me feel that I am in fact a valued customer. read more

I purchased a RAV4 from Gault three years ago. They made a huge mistake with my contract (so they said), and under charged me by about $4000. They called and asked me to pay the list price for the car, and I said that I had to check a few things, and get back with them. I received a lot of pressure, and I am local (also a good person), and did not want the salesperson to lose her job, so I agree to have them draw a new contract. They gave me $1000 more for my trade in, and promised free routine service for life. Three years later, they told me I am done, and wanted to charge $89 for tire rotation and oil change. I was shocked, and the manager, Sean, said they never do that. He was rather smug about it, did not really care,and said it was fine if I never came back. I am disappointed and shocked, and would NEVER have done business with them if I did not think they were honest. I agree with many others who do not trust them. read more

If I could, I would give no stars! This place is the worse. My husband and I were commuted customers and we just leased our second car from them. We were having issues with the car right after the lease started and I called, no one returned my call, emailed sales people for help and no response. We took to service department and they tried helping but no communication. Awful, we will not be purchasing or leading from them again.
