I've been going here for a while to get my jewelry repaired. I had a small troll brooch that I washed by mistake and he lost his eyes arm. They were able to put some new eyes in and use some gold on the side so he looks like a one arm bandit. They have a museum here too for kids to enjoy. read more

My mother passed away recently and I inherited her 2 diamond ring guards. They were soldered together. I wanted to wear the the ring with my Grandmothers band and my band, but the ring kept slipping around. I went to Gaumer's in Red Bluff and while they were trying to help me a diamond fell out. It got lost and they offered to replace it and charge a nominal fee for repointing where the diamond escaped, as well as resize it. They carefully explained that it was a delicate job and that many of the points on the ring may need to be fixed, plus there was a possible problem with resizing such a wide ring. I signed a waiver, but in my heart I knew they could do it. I got a call much sooner than expected and headed down to Red Bluff. When they pulled my ring out of the envelop I almost cried. It was gorgeous! They explained that the jeweler went ahead and repointed all the diamond settings. It was polished and all set to go. Gaumer's Jewelers are magicians! And as promised the fee was nominal. It was totally worth the trip to Red Bluff. I highly recommend their fantastic work!! read more

Stopping thru Red Bluff?? You gotta come here for their museum :) we are from LA and come up here to visit family and always stop to look at these cool rocks. Many of them make good presents and a fun hour long excursion in a kinda boring little town. The people that work there are very kind and context clues indicate it's a family run business. Maybel Gaumer has her own case of purple assorted trinkets which are beautiful and fun to look at. You can also buy geodes here and split them! They also have fossils, shells and fine jewelry. Had some rings from many years ago. I didn't want to get rid of them so I took one ring to Gaumers jewelry and had them exchange the main stone and it turned out with much higher expectations then I could ever imagine. I saw this place in the AAA tourbook (thats right, I still get the tour books ) and decided to check it out on a recent road trip. I am very glad we did. They sold some beautiful jewelry and gems, and had part of the store set up as a museum. The owners ancestors mined, and there is an actual cart and mining tunnel entrance setup. there were also lots of fossils, beautiful gems and other interesting displays to look at. The glow in the dark room was so cool! The staff were very friendly and i ended up purchasing a few gemstones. Definitely a good place to stop. read more

We visited in June 2019. This is not an ordinary jewelry store, there are tons of unique and beautiful gems from all around the world, many of them collected by the owners themselves. The kids loved the gems for sale & displays. One of them bought a petrified wood and the other bought several small gems. Will definitely come back when in the area. read more

My husband went to Gaumers in November for my birthday. He thought while he was there he would also pick up something matching for my Christmas present. Jill was helping him she wrapped everything including the earrings individually so I would have lots of little things to open. She tucked tissue paper in cute little bags and really helped him out. He was so excited by the time he got home he couldn't wait for Christmas and I got everything in November. A hidden gem!!! This is a MUSEUM and lapidary that offers free school tours. The museum includes fossils, gems, minerals, mining equipment and much more. Plus, there is a gemologist on site. This place is a hidden "gem" in Red Bluff. I have dropped in many times in the past and brought my kids when they were younger, to look at the museum side of the store. Accompanied by photos of various places where they have found the perfect stone, are beautiful and appropriately displayed finds. They offer a little bit for every age. If unique gifts are your thing, this place offers it! They even have rock polishers if you want to do it yourself. My GPS, sent me the wrong directions (a mile away) but i called their store front and the lady was super helpful and gave me clear directions. I was there in 2 minutes! I found this shop so fun and well worth the stop. (Portland to SF) From the outside it could be any shop but once you walk in, it's so cool! A little less than half the shop is displayed rocks/gems--their museum. The other part is cool cool rocks and jewelry for sale. I think Grade school kids and curious adults alike would like this place. You can tell, that this is a place built on hard work and love of rocks. I spend 45 minutes looking around; they had rocks and gems from all over the world (though not as much from Asia.) You could spend $3 or $300, so plan accordingly. I kept thinking how much my 7 and 10 year niece and nephew would like this place. read more

Absolutely the most honest, professional, helpful and knowledgeable people in the region. Came in the other day with a few boxes full of rocks from an estate. They patiently went through to see what I had. It is obvious everyone in the store truly loves rocks! Bill even packaged and labeled several of them so I could take they to my child's school to donate them so the kids could have their own collection to look at. Asked if I could pay for his time labeling all of these things. He said 'no', just come back sometime. We will be back. This is my first yelp ever, just felt so compelled to let the world know about what a great resource they have in Red Bluff. We've been to the Smithsonian and have seen lots of gemstones and rocks over the years. For a small town, Gaumers has a BIG COLLECTION of beautiful rocks and gemstones from around the world. Children and adults will enjoy what they have to offer. I have to say I was very impressed with all of their custom jewelry. The settings are stunning and the rocks and gemstones gorgeous. Very tastefully designed, solid and well made. If you get a chance and you are either going through Red Bluff or live in the area, I would highly recommend visiting this store and museum. I grew up in Red Bluff until my early 20's. I always knew Gaumer's was there, though I never really went in to see what they were all about. I now am 25 engaged and living in Oregon. My fiance bought my ring from a pawn shop. I absolutely loved it and didn't mind that it came as a pawned ring. I went home for vacation and wanted to have my ring checked on a dipped, as the white gold was turning yellow. I had to leave on Thursday and waited until Wednesday to take it in. They rushed my order examined my ring before they did any work. They told me there were two natural occurring flaws, showed me where they were and explained them to me. Jill was very helpful and told me I got a steal of a deal. The center stone prongs needed to me fixed, and she told me I couldn't replace the stone for what we payed for the ring! Which made me feel good. They got my ring done in less than a day and gave me a discount! I will never take my ring anywhere else. They were honest friendly fair and very helpful. I highly recommend them, and they are also a local family owned business. I feel its always better to give back to your community and in return they take good care of you!
