About a month later, I went on a family cruise, lifting luggage and my 14-month-old grandbaby repeatedly each day. By the time I got home, the pain was much more severe and had moved from the top of my shoulder down my bicep. I could no longer play tennis with the level of pain and weakness in the arm. I called Dr. Dean, who didn't return my calls until the 4th attempt, and told him that my symptoms had changed noticeably after the cruise and frequent baby lifting. He said it was just the arthritis and that it was referred pain down the arm. I insisted that the pain was of a markedly different quality and intensity, yet he did not so much as ask me to come in for a follow up, arrogantly stating that he had been doing this for decades and was telling me it was just the arthritis. Long story short, I went to the Hospital for Special Surgery in NY for arthroscopic surgery. Turns out, aside from the arthritis, my bicep was completely shredded and hanging on by a thread!! Dr. Dean should be less ego-involved and listen more closely to his patients, instead of assuming he knows everything and is always right.

I'm amending this for an update. 3rd interaction - I was still hoping to follow up with this Dr because of the time I have invested. Was waiting to do updated blood work. She has been assigned as my primary care physician by my insurance. Just found out that she won't be doing the full panel of labs that my last one did (for last 7 years). These labs were standard & identified a health problem to monitor. She said if she can't treat it, She won't include them in normal labs. From a medical standpoint point this is concerning. Neither could my other doctor. Thought the primary care has always been the first line of defense? ---- maybe they mean family doctor for sniffles? 1st & 2nd interactions 1st appt was cancelled with Doctor with no notice (& waited 2 months to see Dr instead of PA because prior family Dr's labs identified a concern & that Islands doctor was leaving the practice). waited 1 hour & 15 minutes for PA who was still running late so had to leave to take care of a family member in the hospital. 2nd interaction - called to get an update on labs. Was interrupted. Waited to speak. Didn't get one. If I tried, was told I was interrupting & rude. Waited without a peep and counted to 10 when receptionist was done. Waited too long. She hung up on me. I'd been assured a return call during rant. So waited for one. Didn't get one. So called back next day (def didn't want to do that). Got same receptionist. She said the Dr was supposed to call me back (?!). Then she read back dr's note which stated she was supposed to call me back. Receptionist told me I should find a new practice. So I am. What a mess.

They often would get you started on an exercise and then go work with someone else. Multi-tasking doesn't seem right when it's your health involved. And, surprisingly, results were mixed. If I got better it was because I did more than was asked. I often got impatient with therapists who wanted me to do the same exercises in front of them that I had been doing at home. No thanks. When I read that Cornerstone dedicated their scheduled time to you, I had to see. So post surgery, I went and met my therapist Andrew. Wow. What a concept-a dedicated therapist who took time to evaluate, plan, push and support. Incredibly knowledgeable and insightful. He knew I did my exercises every day and each visit was an addition and extension. He worked with me directly and didn't have me do bogus time killers like 10 minutes of spinning a wheel while he tended to other things. He gave me new things to do at home every visit. As a result, I made great progress. In fact, he even told me that after 5 visits he thought i had progressed enough to stop coming in! Even though I had medical authorization for more! He loaded me up with a home program and my recovery has been better than expected. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed. They aren't all created equal.

My experience with Crossroads Chiropractic & Wellness: I was in immense pain, in my shoulder, starting 3 days ago that was limiting my daily activities and sleep. I toggled with the idea of finding a new Chiropractor in Savannah since I don't live here but visit monthly. I researched and found Dr. Domanski. I knew it would be worth a try if they were seeing new patients (they are and were SO helpful to get me in immediately, THANK YOU!). PROs: - Excellent adjustment by Dr. Domanski (which is not always easy on a very stiff patient). He also has a great way of explaining your diagnosis and what your x-rays say about what your spine is doing. When I went in, I could not look over my shoulders and when I walked out, my range of motion had returned! I am always much calmer and know I will sleep better tonight! The staff has always worked with my schedule and been welcoming and kind. I've been to other chiropractors, some with horrid results. BUT, Dr. Domanski continues to provide the most excellent care!!
