This is a small little bookstore with so many great finds! I found a book from one of my favorite authors L.M. Montgomery - one that I don't have. I highly recommend Gavin's Books! I'm a big time reader - sometimes 4 books per week and I can't read on a Kindle. Books get very expensive. Gavin's has affordable prices and offers fair prices for books you turn in. I have always been able to find exactly what I'm looking for and then some! read more

I was traveling from out of town and finished the book I brought with me. I found this bookstore and thought I would try them out. Not only did they take my book I finished, which I didn't want to carry around, but they had a great selection of books! It didn't take me much time at all to find something to read next. A great bookstore. The owners are personable and knowledgeable. If there's a title that you're looking for that they don't have it on hand, they'll find a way to get it for you. They do a brisk trade in used books as well. The only time I couldn't get store credit for an old book I took to them was because it had some pretty bad water damage, but I like the place so well that I simply left the book in their "free" community book box out front. Just made my first trip to this store. Store is small and somewhat dusty. Has the smell of a nice vintage book store. I guess you could like/dislike that aspect. I dont mind it per say. Comic was priced $2.50 on front and charges me $8+. Aside from a price misunderstanding that went his their favor, I would say its a nice lil hole in the wall with something to offer. I personally enjoy local businesses versus large chain stores. read more

The name pretty much says it all. The Bookworm is a *wonderful* place to find any kind of books you're into, whether it's fantasy, romance, classics or poetry. From floor to the ceiling and everywhere in between is books galore, so much so it can be somewhat dizzying at times, but the owner is a wonderful guy who can easily point in the right direction and has expressed to me great knowledge of his books. He has books for all prices as well, from cheap to somewhat expensive. I've bought a hard-back biography of John Milton, including a collection of his most popular poems in it, originally published around the 18's for around $80.00. Truly a wonderful place and a haven I'm sure for the book lover in need of a good read. read more

I love to read. I am extraordinarily snobby about the books I read, from the content of the book to the actual copy of the book. I scoff at e-readers and prefer old books with their yellow pages and musty smell over new books HANDS DOWN. And just when I had written Santa Maria off as completely lame, as so many people who have grown up here and then left to somewhere else are so prone to do, I found this place and found myself coming back so often that the ADORABLE British woman who works there knew my taste in literature to a T. The Bookworm is ridiculously precious to me. The woman who works there is even more ridiculously precious to me. She carries a wide variety of books, from recent crap that tweens would love to read, to children's books, to collectibles, to classics, to rarer finds, to cult classic stuff, to cookbooks. Pretty much any genre you can think of, it will probably be here. My favorite section is absolutely the classical literature section. It satiates my need to feel incredibly cultured, well-read, and erudite. Prices are decent. Sure, you could find it cheaper on Amazon, but it feels like a crime to do so after walking in and talking to the woman who works there, who is so sweet that I want to beg her to be my grandmother. Bring in your old books, get some other ones, and spend a bit of time here. read more

I usually go here to buy from the children selection. The owner is very nice and knowledgable. I have also done a trade transaciton, and he has great customer service. This place really felt like it is more about the customer and books and not about trying to make a buck. They have an awesome Dr. Seuss collection. I like the cozy feel of the environment.
