I went to Gayla wigs on April 11 with my daughter who lost her hair due to chemo. She was very emotional and the sale person helped her pick 2 wigs. We verified insurance would cove 100% of the cost. The sales person explained the process to us and had us pay in advance almost $7K. We left with one wig and one was to be ordered. It has been almost a month, we are still waiting on insurance paperwork to be filed. I have called multiple times and can not get anyone at Gayla to answer or return my call. The one time that I was able to speak to someone on the phone she said that she did not know how to do the insurance paperwork. I cannot get a straight answer, we still do not have both wigs and are out 7K. I wish we had gone somewhere else! read more

I want to preface this by saying the people in this shop were so sweet and incredible. They made me feel very welcome and excepted. That is not what this review is about. I purchased a wig for 2,700$ for full human hair, it started off fine. After three months the lace began to unravel. Badly. Way passed usual wear and tear, as lace fraying is normal. The hair came out in droves when I would care for it. Having dealt with wigs before I followed, all necessary care instructions to keep my wig at its best to no avail. The wig now is unusable, with several bald spots as pictured. I took very VERY good care of this wig. This was a lot of money for me to spend, and I am expected to get what I pay for in terms of quality when I spend that amount of money on a human hair wig not to have it collapse, after only five months of daily use and wear. I am upset this is how it turned out, but it is what it isI suppose. I did call the shop last month and asked if they did wig repair, to which they told me they do not do but to send it to the wig doctor online, and when I looked at prices, the repair of the wig would be about the same as my purchase of the wig. I feel bad writing a review for such lovely people, but the quality isn't there. read more

When I walked into Gayla Wigs, I was welcomed by Lina. The area was beautiful inside with separate client rooms for privacy. I was amazed at how lovely the shop was. It was very comforting and simply amazing. Lina was with another client as I was a walk-in. I had lost most of my long, full head of hair from Covid. I was in despair and my self esteem was at an all time low. When the other client was leaving, I learned she was there for the same thing (Covid hair loss). Lina was amazing! She brought several wigs and when I showed her a photo of what my hair was like before, she found the perfect match for me. Lina was so nice and attentive and I met Gayla a few days later when I picked up my hair styling kit. What a beautiful soul! I had the most amazing experience and they focused on my needs and gave me back my confidence. I would highly recommend Gayla's Wigs and I can assure you, there is no shop like them in the area. Great staff, selection, and atmosphere. I felt like I was at a high end salon and spa upon entering Gayla wigs. Luz did a great job of selecting the perfect wig (Jon Reneau human hair "Carrie") that was close to the color and style of my natural hair so my chemo induced hairloss would not be noticeable event for me professionally. Luz is knowledge about the impact of various chemo treatments, took the time to show me how to properly wear, care, and style my wig in addition to what I needed for insurance reimbursement. If we lived closer I would have taken advantage of their wig washing/styling services, however I found another shop closer to home. read more

I am not one to leave reviews. However, I feel this is important for people to know because it definitely was not explained to me during my visit to Gaylas Wigs . I was very excited to find a wig boutique with several options for me. I scheduled an appointment a week in advance. The day came, tried on several wigs and made a purchase. I'm from out of state, so when I got home and wanted to document the shade and style of my new wig, I noticed that it was not on my receipt, nor did I have a manufacturer tag in the in the box for the wig I purchased. Said box was not even a box for the brand for the wig I purchased. There was no identifying information on the sewn in tag. I contacted the store and requested the color and style of the Gabor wig that I purchased. I was told that they do not share that information and it was stored in their computer for future purchases. I explained I was new to the wig wearing journey and from out of state and being new to this process, was trying to document style and color information to help me with future with purchases, such as the shade and style of wigs that work for me so that I can compare them to other wig makers and know what is comparable. I was told again that it is their policy. They do not share this information. I stated I made a Wig Purchase and I'm just trying to get the information on the Wig that I purchased only to be told again that they do not share that information. She told me when I return to the store to make another purchase, they will have that information to use to help them assist me with future purchases. I informed them that this policy is not helpful to someone starting this very difficult journey of hair loss, and that I would not drive from out of state to purchase another wig from them due to this policy. I can understand if someone came into the store took their time only paid the $30 consulting fee and did not make a wig purchase and then purchased with online. I made a wig purchase with them and was trying to get the information on the actual wig that I purchased. I'm glad that I did not purchase more wigs from them. On the other hand, I went to Ruby's Wig Salon in West Houston and found just the opposite. They were very helpful and gave me a itemized receipt with everything i purchased and helped me understand the differences in the colors between various wigs, I purchased FOUR wigs from them, and staff even altered my wig that I came into the store with to custom fit my head. Their prices were very reasonable, and they had a great selection. They have a great discount, the more wigs that you purchase. I would not recommend Gaylas Wigs to anyone, especially someone who is just beginning the wig journey. I would highly recommend Rubys wig salon. read more

This is the second time that I have purchased from Gayla Wigs. Sarah Stibitz helped me find the perfect topper. She spent a lot of time with me and we came up with a great topper.
