unfortunately this place needs a face lift! the hallway smells chlorinated like the pool. The coffee in the rooms didn't have sleeves so it it way to hot to hold to drink. While i was there the fire alarm went off for an hour as a test. then they didn't have hot water for one full night. there is no concierge for members. ---crazy

What a great place, especially at Christmas time! The decorations are absolutely delightful just walking through the hotel interior. Then if you want to go to ICE, you are in for a real treat when you see the ice sculptures that have been carved on-site. This year's theme was Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and the sculptures were fantastic! I highly recommend this place!!

Yes, I took my 6yr old daughter to ICE and we had a good time. The sculptures were really nice. It's cold but they give you parkas to keep you warm. We prepaid for everything which I believe is suggested as I didn't not see ticket stands anywhere to partake in any of the additional activities.

I stayed here a little over a week ago, and had a five star visit here! The entire hotel was decorated with Christmas lights & trees everywhere! The hotel was also pretty easy to get to as well. And the staff was very friendly too. A shout out to Shawn on the chef team, who actually went out of his way to help me locate the bag drop area, although doing so certainly wasn't the responsibility of someone on their cooking team. Junior also was cool too. Overall, it was a five star visit! Definitely recommend coming here during Christmas time.

This was a very beautiful hotel but for the hype I was mildly disappointed. Check in was pleasant and very easy! Walking over to my rooms the elevator wait was very long. Come to find out one of the two elevators are broken so that was a pain. The walls are not very soundproof. I could hear quite a bit and having that late at night isn't ideal. When you come here you are very far from anything else so you have to deal with their absurd pricing for any forgotten items. I purchased a chapstick and it was $6.50!! For over stock of chapstick. I was not thrilled. I also was surprised to find that my room didn't have a microwave and the mini fridge was not good at maintaining temperatures. All in all it is a beautiful hotel but not worth the hype or cost in my opinion.

Beautiful views of the indoor atrium and light display for the holiday season.

The Gaylord Texan is a city by itself. With four indoor restaurants, bars, and a general store, you will have everything you need to eat during your stay. The decorations are spectacular and you are transported into a city all to yourselves. The hotel staff is friendly, the environment is clean, and area is easy to navigate.

Ok so....lovely resort during Christmas. Walking around during Christmas is gorgeous and exciting. Would I come back? Eh, probably not. Certainly not for the $500/night room cost this time of year. If you stay here, be prepared to spend money. Breakfast buffet is $32, even for a toddler. They also add 18% service fees to everything. Bell service is free. Parking is $22/day or double that for valet. Or room was very basic for a hotel room and while clean, it as kind of dated and basic for the nightly cost. Staff are kind, but when we had some billing issues and spoke with multiple people, there seemed to be a question or fear of giving out info unless it came from a manager.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times. It is definitely worth seeing at least once but be prepared to walk. At least it is a beautiful walk. Getting in and out of the hotel or to and from your room is always going to be a hike. I will bring the family once but unless I am here for a conference, I will pick a smaller hotel. It is busy, so you will wait for just about everything. Then the food and drink prices are expensive.

all decorated up for Christmas with the big red balls. One of my favorite resorts during Christmas :))

LOVE LOVE LOVE! We had the most incredible time at the Gaylord! We have stayed at the Gaylord before, but again, I can't find my reviews or photos they must have gotten lost in the Yelp abyss. Anyway, that's all history now, bc we have NEVER had such an amazing time as this time! From the check in, to the check out it was just perfection! We had so much fun! It was completely Christmas festive, the place was decorated so beautifully! I got lots of new ideas for decorating at home. The Light show is amazing! ALL the Christmas trees were so beautiful! The whole place was so fancy & gorgeous! And all the little shops were amazing! I really enjoyed the market place, you turned me onto canned Gin and Tonic! It's so yummy! haha. Most Importantly, we also got to get decked out, go out fancy and have a couple of really lovely romantic evenings. The room was so nice! The bed was so comfy! We LOVED the shower! The view of the sunset over Grapevine from our room was amazing! So romantic. We got the most amazing service from the moment we walked in, to the moment we walked out! Yes, it's expensive, but it's a resort! People pay even MORE for fake Disney Lie. Christmas at the Gaylord is way more classy and way more fun. We ended our stay with drinks at the Silver bar with a whole lot of other people into the magic of Christmas spirit & spirits! The drinks were a flowing and trying to get up the next morning, our age a showing! LOL Hungover, the bell man, Alan, came to help us get our luggage all the way to the garage I apologized for making him wait as I had obviously overslept. I told him, "we had too much fun in the Sliver Bar last night!" He laughed and said he was glad we had such a great time, that only the Cowboys stadium sells more liquor than the Gaylord, and that most people enjoy the Silver bar way way too much and also can't find their way to the garage. He told us he makes so many trips to the garage for people with their stuff that he is the fastest in the west! hahaha hahaha hahaha Alan took us all thru the hotel, got us to the Garage, FAST, just like he said he would. He even helped pack all the Christmas shopping & luggage into the car and helped us to get settled. He was so kind and caring he made us feel like family. Best trip of our life. We love you Gaylord! You are now like family! We can't wait to return! Merry Christmas everyone! Abundant blessings be yours this holiday season! Cheers to the New Year!

"Oh, I used to be disgusted And now I try to be amused" (Elvis Costello) You won't have any trouble trying to be amused in this wonderland of a property. It feels more like an amusement park or theme park rather than a hotel. Start off with the fact that the property has a GIGANTIC air conditioned dome over it, so although there is grass and trees and plants, and the like, the illusion that you are "outside" is overwhelming. But it's just an illusion -you are "inside" a comfortably air conditioned space. Definitely worth a visit, like we did yesterday for a lunch stop

The customer service from the staff was top notch. The bartender to the front desk and valet were all amazing. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Upon checking in they greet you with a welcome glass of wine. This was a nice surprise and unexpected. My room was clean and cozy. The decor inside my room was vintage and modern. Bonus was the thick robe hanging up for me. There is a mini bar, safe, refrigerator and coffee maker. The bed was soft and comfortable. The ambiance of the room and all hotel areas were beautifully designed. The lobby with the fireplace was filled with lovely furniture. I had a happy and peaceful visit. I would definitely stay here again. Book the room! My only negative is...Parking is $$$ You are already paying a premium amount for the rooms and experience so this should be cheaper for guests.

After asking for by ID, he asked for my credit card info, I politely said no. I knew it was covered by my company. He asked again & I insisted it wasn't needed. Then he finally gave me my room key. The room was large, spacious, & overall clean. The bathroom was also very spacious, but I felt the floor was dirty and sticky. Overall, I'm giving it 3.5 stars (rounding up to 4). It does not really stand out to me and verged a bit on disappointing, though this might have been because I was tired from traveling. The room itself must not be one of them that they picture, maybe some renovated/some not? Mine didn't feel renovated at all, instead a bit tired and run down. The shower (which had awful water pressure, barely trickles) had an ugly yellowish color scheme for its tiles. The bed is weirdly high up and medium-firm but comfortable enough. I have become spoiled by hotels that feature Netflix, YouTube, and/or other apps/services in addition to live TV. This TV was a regular TV and nothing more, which is not a huge problem itself. Even so, it was a bit jarring to see, especially since its "TV guide" channel looked straight out of the early 90s. The free shuttle is great. It makes stops anywhere people want, which is understandable, and the airport is huge, so build in some extra time. We had a bit of a scare because the driver was said to be a bit late, but we then got an update a few minutes later that the driver would be on time, and he was! Phew.

My oh my this place is something else…read more.. My husband had a work conference here at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center so we packed our bags and my toddler and I came too. I was looking into pictures of this place and was so confused as to what was the resort and what wasn't. There's no way all these pictures that look like different places can be all in one place... well my friends... it is. As we pulled up, I realized just how big this place is and I got really excited to go inside and finally figure out what's what. This place is gorgeous. Part of it looks like a lodge, part of it looks like a mall, part of it looks like a convention center... because it is, part of it looks like a hotel, part of it looks like the riverwalk, etc... and yet it all blends together seamlessly. There are 4 main restaurants, at least 2 bars, two coffee shops, one is also a marketplace, shops that sells clothes, a kids store, an arcade, a spa, a gym, a FedEx business center, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, another restaurant down the street that is also part of the resort, a water park down the street that is part of the resort... I'm FOR SURE forgetting something... or multiple somethings. There's no way to do it all in a week while also attending a conference. So we didn't hit up everything. It's okay though, my toddler mostly wanted to just walk around. Nonstop. There's plenty to see by doing that. There's a scavenger hunt that you can do, a virtual animal safari, model trains that we stopped to watch multiple times, a mini Build-A-Bear Workshop right in the middle of things... I'm telling you, this place has it all. We arrived on a Monday, left on a Friday, and didn't have enough time to do and see everything. We ate at 3 of the 4 main restaurants. We tried to eat at the Riverwalk Cantina - and I was admittedly most excited about that one. However, the first two nights they were having a buffet. We wanted to order from the menu. We said we'd come back. The third night my husband had a business meeting at the steakhouse so that was a no go. The fourth night we went down there to eat... they were closed. Getting ready for a private event. *sad face* We left the next day and never got the chance to try it out. Things are a bit pricey, but you pay a convenience fee, and the fact that they literally had everything we needed in one place without leaving the resort was just that... convenient. So I wasn't complaining, especially with a two-year-old in tow. Even the option to have food delivered to your room was great since I could order breakfast to be delivered before my kiddo woke up for the day. The room was nice. It was pretty modern and spacious. We were on the first floor so it was also convenient. We didn't have a fancy view. It was a side parking lot, but the fact that it was part of a block of rooms reserved for the conference meant that we weren't expecting a room with a view or anything. I slept comfortably, but brought my own pillow which I believe was a big part of my comfort. My husband said the typical hotel bed was too hard. It wasn't as enjoyable of a sleeping situation for him. I could've stayed longer and been just fine lol. Anyways, I know this review is very long and I'll cut it off here, but I will say that there are so many more things I could say, but you just have to experience this place for yourself. I will review the restaurants we tried separately. Texan Station Sports Bar & Grill Zeppole Old Hickory Steakhouse

The curtains could be moved to completely block out light. Water got hot quickly and pressure was fine. I should note that one of my colleagues did have issues with his bathroom, toilet not working so this may depend on your assigned room. Breakfast. The complimentary breakfast was consistently good. Hot items mixed with a good variety of cold, such as waffles, burritos, egg sandwiches, oatmeal, and yogurt. There was even dairy-free alternatives. It was not crowded throughout the week. The lady who managed this each morning was great, always asking if I needed anything. Amenities. The exercise room was a decent size with bike and treadmills and free weights. Pool was not the warmest, but nice to cool off in during the hot summer. It's just long enough for laps. The spa with timer was nice also, jets were not very strong, and could get crowded in the weekend evening. Service and staff. Staff are not in 24-7, they leave at a specific time, but it's late so was never a problem. They do not turn down the room every day, only on certain days, but I was informed this up front so it was also never an issue. The front desk staff in the morning (early on Thursday), in particular, was fantastic, went out of his way to help me out. Overall, given its convenience to the airport and a number of other places, such as the nearby outlet mall and restaurants, and all of the points above, rooms, free breakfast, amenities, etc, it's a good hotel for any short or extended stay.

The lady who checked us in was helpful, there was only a couple of minutes left to the Social/Happy Hour and she rushed us over and ensured the bar tender got us drinks. However, getting to our room was the start of the slide downwards. The elevators (four of them) took FOREVER and our room cards refused to open our assigned room - I went down to get replacement cards (ten minutes lost because of the elevators) but that didn't fix the problem. The lady who had checked us in had been replaced by a guy who had a less than enthusiastic attitude, he was alone and now he had like 3 reservations to handle plus us - he said he'd have an engineer come to our door, but after 20 minutes no one had shown so down I went again. So at near the 45 minute mark since check-in I'm told the engineer is maybe on some other project and there's really no ETA for him to get to us. And NO, we can't have a different room. Eventually I found that first staffer, the lady, and asked for help again - the engineer arrived about ten minutes later. He found the locks battery was dead and he hooked it up with a USB line to a battery pack. Finally we can get into room 801. We put our bags down and freshen up to go out to dinner, kinda later than we planned, no thanks to this hotel. Coming back from dinner we found the mattress was underwhelming, and the bathroom sink was broken. And the house phone, labeled for a different room BTW, didn't work. So that was that, we got our room changed, after another 30 minutes wasted on slow elevators and low grade staff. In the new room the bed was marginally better, so just acceptable but we found the shower very slippery, it felt unsafe, and there was some moldiness. And they wanted to charge me $20 to self park in an uncovered, unsecured space about 200 yards from the entrance - that sucked.
