Been a GB3 member for years and years since the cedar and nees first opened / closed. All of the other branches are good, but Sunnyside seems to be going through quite a bit of issues. Unfortunately I had to move and this is the closest one to me. If it's not sauna issues, it's now hot water issues. With a new couple gyms opening up in the area, I hope it motivates sunnyside to up their game because I really like GB3 overall. read more

I usually go to the GB3 on Champlain, but stop by this location when I happen to be in the area. There is a good amount of equipment, but the downside is that everything is so close together. There is also very little lighting compared to the other GB3's. The floor is ALWAYS dusty- I notice it under all the benches and most of the machines. It's gotten to a point where my allergies act up during every visit at this location specifically. I see the employees at other locations cleaning regularly, but not even once at this one? read more

This place is completely filthy. Machines are all dirty build up in the corners and the spa is absolutely disgusting. I guarantee you Gb3 on the north side would never look like this. I think GB3 forgot about this location... Or they gave up on it. The gym is dark, dirty, and dingy. Machines are literally covered in dust and rust. How did they get rusty? Why are the trash cans rusty? Wait, why are the walls rusty?? Make you you've had your tetanus shot. The air vents and fixtures hanging from the ceiling clearly have not been dusted since the gym had its grand opening. The lighting in the gym is bad. Many lights are burned out, many about to blow out, and the lights still on have a harsh glare. The gym has an awkward layout since it's made up of multiple tenant suites. Could be much better organized though. The locker rooms are (you guessed it), dirty. The pool area has creepy horror movie vibes because of the bad lighting. I think this gym also needs a dress code. Lounging sweatpants don't seem right. Athletic gear is understandable, but not plaid baggy comfy sweatpants. TLDR: this gym needs major help. I don't understand why this location is horrible compared to the others which are in pretty amazing shape. read more

What is wrong with the air conditioning here? I arrived yesterday to discover that the front windows were covered with condensed water running down the inside. So bad was this problem you could not even see through the windows! Not a good first impression. Upon entering one is then hit with the dank, dark humidity that does not make one want to start working out. Just inside the door they still have the table with wipes, sprays, etc for cleaning equipment. But the whole set up is creepy . . They used black strapping tape to reinforce the opening through which you pull out your wipes. Could we just get a better functioning container? Sadly the same malfunctioning stationery bicycle that was broken months ago remained in disrepair. After moving to another machine I was disappointed to find that the drink holder was dirty . . . I didn't even want to put my cell phone there. Once I got going on my workout much of this faded away but I continue to have concerns regarding the health of this extremely humid atmosphere. I would guess that mold growth is happy with the inadequately functioning air circulation but as a paying member, I am not. This gym strikes me as a perfect place for exchange of respiratory diseases like COVID and RSV. I honestly believe that GB3 would never allow a North Fresno location to be so neglected and dirty. Come on GB3, PLEASE invest in the air conditioning and machine upkeep at the very least. read more

I've been attending GB3 for sometime now and Sunnyside is closest to my home but I don't see myself returning anytime soo.dated equipment nothing new here in over 7years guys consta sitting on machines talking on their phones so you can't use what you want.this gym needs an overhaul with new equipment that actually helps you get in shape and wouldn't hurt to have someone going around cleaning equipment I was on the stair master hands on the side rails my eye was itching so I rubbed it within 2 minutes it was swollen shut scariest experience of my life.i know it's not the best area but GB3 can do better with this one. read more

I have been swimming at GB3 for 14 months. The pool is always clean, warm, and promptly set up after the Aerobics class. Matt, the manager, is consistently accommodating, pleasant, and professional, catering to his clients' needs. The front desk personnel are well organized, easy to work with, and welcoming. Everyone makes me feel appreciated and happy, encouraging me to laugh and smile. The cleaning crew is thorough, responsive, and quick to come to the aid of all. Just switched from Planet Fitness to GB3. So far I'm impressed by the amount of equipment there is which means less having to wait. However, I must admit I do miss the feeling of the cleaner locker rooms at Planet Fitness even at their busiest so there is no excuse at GB3 to be so filthy. This location is probably my least favorite which sucks because this one is probably the closest to me. It took me a few minutes to figure out where the locker rooms were. I might try to come again another day and hope for a better experience in the future. read more

I'll update it to 4 stars once they get more Kettlebells. I can tell you their inventory. They have 2-12lbs 2-15lbs 2-20lbs and 2 -25, and that's it for the whole gym. And I don't usually use the smaller weights but what gym doesn't have a good amount of 2-12lb dumbbells. It's little things but compared to their other clubs this seems like the one they put the least thought into. It's run down, dirty and the step child of GB3s. And I would ignore all the bad if they just had more kb! read more

I can agree with most of the people that for all of the Gb3's in town this is the most unkempt one. That being said there is nothing even close to this in the area as far as a public gym. There's 2 separate free weight areas which I find extremely useful so that way not all of the big lifters are crowded in one part of the building. For the most part all machine maintenance is pretty good, nothing has been "out of order" for more than a day or two. I see the workers constantly sweeping/picking up paper towels and water bottles. There's usually about 3 people doing rounds at the same time and HONESTLY people shouldn't be so grotesque to leave their crap all over the gym. That's not the gyms fault it's yours-if you see someone leave trash call them out NOT the employees who are trying to clean up after them. Parking is good, it's pretty terrible at other locations but have yet to have a problem here. I would agree that George Brown should invest a little more in updating this gym. There's plenty of people here so it's a worthy investment. More water fountains, better ac, more variety of product to sell. read more

I moved so this gb3 sunnyside is 5 min away from me but in all honesty the worst part is the front desk employees the girls are awful talking/laughing about the members rude. Equipment out of order, bathroom/locker room has trash all over the floor, garbage cans are full and over flowing and that's just what I've seen in my first 10 minutes here. There aren't a lot of gym choices in the area so I'm assuming that probably why him or his management don't really care. And the pictures I posted were only of the men's room. $157 down is crazy ngl. First impression as I walked in. Service desk girls looked like they hated their job. Crazy humid and saw quite a bit of broken machines already, As the gentleman broke down the membership, each membership came across as money hungry. $157 down just to go to month month is beyond me and the memberships don't make sense at all you get the same perks with either plan but the only thing is they get even more expensive. Then if you don't want to do that, you have to sign a contract but like I said it gets more expensive. Would not recommend. read more

The gym itself has everything you need. They fix equipment quickly. The front desk staff are friendly. I can get a great workout anytime I go. The cleanliness of the gym can be an issue. The male bathroom is typically dirty. They are slow to empty the trash, and the sinks are always soaked. The gym members definitely lack etiquette. They do not wipe down equipment, so I often have to wipe it down before use. Some of this blame goes on the gym. There are not a lot of spray bottles and paper towels handy. You have to walk across the gym to get one in certain locations. It would be nice if wipes were posted throughout the gym, and signs imploring members to wipe down equipment after each use. Finally, please put up multiple signs in the sauna to remind people, no weight lifting, pushups, sit-ups, shadow boxing inside the sauna. Everyone is sweaty and wants to decompress. Having some guy beating up the air shouldn't happen in a sauna. They actually have punching bags for this ;-) Recommendation - Signs for the sauna, wiping down equipment, and increase the sanitizing locations throughout the gym to prevent spreading germs and sweat. read more

This gym is obviously kept at a much lower standard than all other GB3s. If it weren't for the superfantastic spin/cycle class, I would move to a different location. I took a pictures today I thought I should share. Don't drink from the fountains and disinfect the machine you chose before utilizing. This is not a case of you pay for what you get bc membership covers all gb3 locations and other facilities are cleaner and friendlier. They also have the outdated machines! I've been a on and off again member here since 2011. They have had major updates with this place since then. I've only been to GB3, planet fitness and Fitness Evo and out off all of them GB3 is where I'm most comfortable. I like the fact that you can go to any of the locations and it's not an extra charge like the other gyms. They also have a play place so that parents can bring their children while they work out. This location is not one of their best however, I usually go here because it's closer to me. There is a strong smell as you enter. The workers are okay some days they are nice and the acknowledge and greet you, other days they don't say anything. There are workers constantly wiping down the machines with a mop throughout the day. If you look up they have signs as to what equipment/ workout machines they have and categorized e.g., Abs, legs, arms, etc.. I love how the machines have instructions on to properly use the equipment. There are many machines/ equipment's that needs reupholster, WD-40 (to keep them from squeaking), and some equipment's are loose. This place always seems to be busy and getting a good working out is almost impossible when it's so packed I just want to get out of there. I think the best time to go would be early morning or noon other than that this place is usually packed. read more

Stop adding unnecessary handlebar racks especially when there's literally 2 right next to each other, yes I'm talking about the ones that got recently moved in the middle room. Also, that bulky table that's only for the wash cloth buckets and spray bottles! this isn't Walmart. You guys are just removing space that people can use to work out in, which is especially hard to come by at the 5 o'clock hour when everyone is at the gym. Completely unnecessary. This gym is becoming trash and maintains to be the worst and the grossest! Also, you should implement some pool rules because people use it as community pool party it seems and is full of nasty body fluids and skin flakes of the 70 year olds doing the "aquatics" classes. Others that really want to use it to swim in just can't because of how nasty that pool is. Make some ACTUAL IMPROVEMENTS and stop "fixing" things that are not broken. Been coming for workouts here for awhile. The place in nice, modern, large, with lots of equipment to meet your physical needs. It depends on which times you go whether it is quite busy or not. Never a time where there I don't get to workout on a machine because of too many people. They have a full track pool and sauna. They also have male and female lockers with showers. They are nice and clean. (Bring your own lock to use). They also have classes they do here never done one before. They also do have personal trainers (never done either). Have hand sanitizer and wash stations around. Kids- you can bring the kids to the gym with you! Love it. They have gym care:) You check your child in and pay up front. Very nominal cost to stay healthy with kids. My kids love it. Pro- have had membership for years and years. You can freeze your account so charges do not come out monthly if you go out of town or just want to stop going to the gym for a while. Never getting penalized and can reactive easily at front desk. Con- kids zone toys don't look very clean. Don't know how offend deep cleaning or cleaning of toys happens. But I make sure my kids wash their hands before leaving every time. Tip: wish they could stay open longer my work hours and schedule are all over the place would be nice if I could go late late evenings read more

I loved this gym when it first opened and over time I came to not like it at all. They don't keep up the elliptical's in this gym at all. If you want to work out in pepper grinders that is the experience you will get at this location. Today I got onto 6 different elliptical's and they were all the same. Hell there was one elliptical that I reported as not ok almost a year ago and is in the same condition. I guess George is to busy paying for his Bentley's and his new Rolls Royce to worry if his gyms are being maintained. Use Clovis, Palm, or the North Gym if you want equipment that is ok. read more

I like GB3 gyms in general, they seem to offer a variety of equipment and have tons of stationary cardio machines. However, I don't see people cleaning down these machines. I'm talking about the patrons and also the staff. On the rare occasion I see a staff member cleaning the treadmills I just shake my head. The lady used 1 mop to wipe down an entire row of machines without ever wringing it out or applying new soap/water/disinfectant. I also don't like the lighting at this location. It's too dark and feels as if not all the lights are turned on. When you go to North Fresno or Clovis locations those places are lit nicely. Can we get some more light down here on Kong's Canyon? I also don't know how often maintenance occurs because I usually have to trial 2-3 treadmills before I find one without a belt that is too loose. This is the closest gym to my house yet i avoid it at all costs. The staff are unprofessional, i haven't seen them mop the group room once, and every time i wipe up my section of floor the cloths are filthy and black. Really hoping they change management so i can start going back to this facility, but until then you won't see me back here. Although this gym is part of corporate, it's dirty and even when the employees are cleaning they do not do a good job. The sauna is always dirty and there was dead cockroaches in the exercise room! On Monday, April 11, 2022, at approximately at 8:30 p.m., I was at the GB3 located on Kings Canyon and Fowler. A female friend and I were walking towards the Zumba room when another GB3 member named Esli Lennie Gonzales, who goes by "Lennie," suddenly came from behind and scratched my back using both of his hands from top to bottom which caused an immediate burning sensation. This was completely unprovoked and left me feeling like I was just clawed by a cat. I was wearing a loose-fitting t-shirt yet the scratches were deep enough that it went through my t-shirt causing red scratch marks which broke through the skin. Unfortunately, this is not the first incident where Lennie has touched me inappropriately. After the first incident, I confronted Lennie and told him not to touch me. I reported Monday's incident to a GB3 staff member that evening and the staff member took down my friend's statement as well as mine. I asked the staff member to take a picture of my back for evidence and when I got home from the gym I had my sister take pictures for my records. On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, I received a call from the manager at the Sunnyside location and she asked me to explain the incident. During our conversation, I got the impression that she was not taking me or this incident seriously. She never mentioned seeing the picture of my back, nor did she mention reviewing the video surveillance of the incident. Despite having a statement from my friend which she didn't review or consider, she stated she's was only going to speak with Lennie. I advised her I don't feel comfortable going to the gym with Lennie still allowed to be a member at GB3 despite the two separate incidents. On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, I wrote an email to the GB3 corporate office advising them of the incident and again provided pictures of the scratches on my back. Corporate stated they will speak with management and investigate this situation further. On Monday, April 18, 2022, I was advised by my friend that witnessed the incident that occurred on April 11th that she saw Lennie at the gym. On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, I followed up with corporate in regards to the safety of one of their members by allowing Lennie to still be at the gym. Corporate advised they did an investigation on their end and were not able to see anything in the video footage. They stated the incident is between me and another member, so I will need to file a police report. It saddens me that GB3 does not take the safety of their members seriously and try to do their part to minimize the risk of an unprovoked attack on one of their members by one of their members. I will reiterate that I do not know Lennie personally and there is absolutely no reason I know of why he would target me. Do better GB3. read more

I called in to cancel my membership a year ago because I moved, and they stated that I had to go into a location to cancel. 4 months later I drove into town and stopped in to cancel the membership. I thought it was done but 8 months later I noticed they were still billing me. I drove to Fresno AGAIN to cancel the membership and this time was given a receipt. Since they did not give a receipt last time they refused to credit those months that they had been erroneously charging me. Makes a person never want to join one of these big gyms again. read more
