As we were making amendments to our home contract (based on the report), he was available to answer our questions and explain exactly what it was we needed to ask for. Not only does Robert look in every nook and cranny, he also uses that newfangled thermal imaging thing that other places charge $200-400 extra for. With it, he found that there was insulation missing behind a firewall in the attic. An honest mistake by the contractors, but one that would've resulted in a hotter summer in the master bedroom. On top of being an expert, ATEX Inspects seems to have some of the more affordable home inspection services in the Greater Houston area. (He's easily worth twice as much.)

Jim responded to our e-mail very promptly and pointed us to book an appointment on the website. After hearing from multiple friends and lenders that we should walk through the inspection, we requested to do so with Jim. He advised us that there would be no need to be present during the full 2-3 hour inspection and advised us to arrive at 430 (for a 130pm inspection). We were a little hesitant about this at first, but definitely have no regrets. Once we arrive, Jim pulled up the inspection report on his laptop and showed us all the different areas he would be addressing. He was very thorough in all aspects and explained everything clearly and simply. He provided photos of any area he had concerns about. Since he finished up the inspection early before we arrived, he even did a full sprinkler inspection at no additional cost! After Jim went through the full report, he addressed all out questions/concerns, provided suggestions for any repairs that needed to be done, and walked us through the house and showed us how to use the fire place, where the water line and cut off switch is located, where the circuit breaker is located, water heater location and operation and many other FYIs in the house. Scheduling team: C, when there were scheduling issues when an inspector couldn't make it out, they scheduled me for the next day without telling me and said "I agreed over the phone" when I had asked if they had other times/inspectors available over the weekend and they said they'd call back over the phone to let me know, but never did (prompting me to call them after a few hours).
