Within only two days, the vehicle began idling roughly, the check engine light came on, and my sister noticed a strong oil smell and oil leaking around the engine. We gave the dealership an opportunity to fix the vehicle. They claimed the problem was the fuel injectors, said they repaired them, and returned the vehicle to my sister, telling her it was "good to go." That same day, smoke began coming from under the hood. The following day, heavy smoke entered the vehicle through the air-conditioning system while my sister and her newborn daughter were inside. This was dangerous and completely unacceptable. I had Midas perform a diagnostic inspection, and they found oil leaking from several locations, including the valve cover, timing cover, oil pan, rear main seal, and oil cooler housing. Their technician specifically documented that these were "not fresh oil leaks" and that the vehicle had been leaking for quite some time. Despite this, the dealership refused to take responsibility, provide a refund, or cover the necessary repairs. I am including photos of the oil leaks because people deserve to see the condition of the vehicle we were sold. Returning the vehicle after an unsuccessful repair and saying it was safe to drive put my sister and newborn niece in a dangerous situation. Based on our experience, I would never purchase another vehicle from Hillsborough Auto Sales, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Since then, I have returned the vehicle to them multiple times (including three trips from Fort Myers), and the issue was never resolved. I was eventually told to take the truck to a dealership for repair. The vehicle has now been diagnosed with a bad transmission and inverter. The extended warranty sold at the time of purchase does not cover all of these issues, leaving me with significant out-of-pocket costs. I withheld a remaining $1,020 of the down payment due to the unresolved issue tied to the original agreement. Instead of resolving the matter, the dealership placed a registration/tag stop, preventing me from renewing my registration, and has stopped responding to my calls. I am currently attempting to resolve this directly and through formal channels. I will update this review based on how the dealership handles this situation moving forward.

I brought my C300 in for service, upon picking the vehicle up I noticed the right, front passenger side wheel and tire was not in the same condition as when I dropped it off. After several attempts to have the wheel and tire repaired due to their negligence during the after service test drive (that we didn't opt for or was told it would be driven), unfortunately Trevor refused to make this right. Additionally, I asked to see the before pictures and video that was mentioned on the phone, but was told there wasn't any. Any time a car goes in for service, a detailed report is completed by the technician, but I was told they do not do this. That's a bit concerning to me. Needless to say, be careful getting your car serviced here.

But not with Jimmy. He isn't your average overly aggressive or sleazy snake oil salesman, that gives a bad name to many dealerships ..you know - the one breathing on your neck and pushing you to buy the car. Jimmy was very nice, relaxed and patient, allowing me to talk and ask questions. He answered any questions about the car, educated me on things I didn't know - what to look for in an used car and then left me to look at the vehicle and take photos. Eventually we went test driving without any pressure and rushing. He not only had a great price tag on the car I liked, but was very honest about the fees and there was nothing "extra" hidden in a small text. And since I am moving out of state in a few days, Jimmy advised me on the out-of-state transferring process, thus saving me bunch of money on the registration of the car. He is a very down-to-earth, honest, hardworking fellow, owning a small business and who works very hard (..including his son Cory) to keep a great name for himself and he's know for his honesty and great priced vehicles. I needed a part for a Honda Pilot and they had it in stock. The owner was very nice and had my part ready upon arrival. They sell good quality used car parts. The owner also informed me that they get their cars from the auction and they believe in selling only high quality used car parts. If I ever was in need of a used car part again I would definitely check them out first. But hopefully I will not be needing them again any time soon. Car repairs can be costly but they help you save with inexpensive used car parts.
