We had a nice but very high ceiling chandelier that shorted out. After requesting a quote, Greg quickly responded asking to first set up an inspection to determine the extent of work required. I appreciated the honesty versus just throwing out a low number only to have it end up being much higher. Thankfully he was able to fit us in quickly. Not only did he do a thorough job inspecting the various switch points and connections, he went through and tested each individual light in the chandelier to identify the source of the problem. He then went out to the store to buy replacement parts he felt would fix the issue, and it did! This is service that the big electric shops rarely do or add on a big charge. So Greg not only identified the problem but fixed right away, which I wasn't expecting. In addition Greg agreed to replace a few outside lights and install new updated timers, a nuisance issue we are thankful to have addressed. He responds very quickly to Yelp requests, texts, etc. I needed a back MUD room's halogen light fixture replaced with a hanging pendant, which was over a considerable amount of stairs. He came on time, wore foot protection inside my home, replaced the fixture safely and with quality equipment, and was done in 30 mins. He had all his tools etc ready to go and knew exactly what he was doing. He even went the extra mile when I asked him to do a little cobweb cleanup while he was on the ladder. I needed an electrician to move an electrical supply from under a bank of windows so I could replace the windows with a sliding patio door. Since that portion of the house was built in 1949, I was a little worried about what I might find once the job was started. I can't recommend GDM Electric enough! Greg came out for free to quote our ceiling fan installation and additional garage outlets.  Our ceiling fan is a large windmill type in a 2 story room about 20 feet tall.  Greg was willing to setup scaffolding to install it.  He provided an e-mail estimate, which we revised 3 times as I kept modifying and changing my mind on how we wanted to do it (remove the wall switches, keep the existing wall switches, change from 3 to 2 outlets in the garage).  Every time, Greg didn't complain and immediately modified the quote, updated the price and re-sent it.  Greg was very reasonably priced compared to other quotes we received over the phone.  Greg and Chris arrived early and on-time on the installation date, both wearing masks in our home.  I thought the scaffolding and complicated ceiling fan would take several hours to complete.  They had the scaffolding setup in about 20 minutes and the ceiling fan assembled, installed and running after about another 30 minutes.  I was amazed how quickly and efficiently they worked!  They then worked in our garage and only cut 2 small holes to add additional garage outlets.  They patched the holes and now I can easily just sand and touch-up paint the small holes (as we agreed during the quote).  Once again, thanks Greg and Chris for doing such a great job!  Picture attached of our large windmill ceiling fan installed. read more

I had a plumber come out and try to fix a booster pump for a condo. He claimed I had a heater and the booster pump on the same circuit and would have to split them up. He also claimed i'd have to run a new 220v line as the line was only running 110v. Why would I think a plumber knew anything about electricity is beyond me. I called Greg on Friday and he ACTUALLY CALLED BACK! This is a true rarity in Chicago. (I left 2 other 5 star places on yelp messages---that was 5 days ago and still have yet to hear anything) Greg worked around my schedule and came out the following Monday. He opened the box and found the heater and booster pump were actually split on two different lines and the line was 220v. The thermostat was the issue. He ran to HD and picked up a new one and installed it within the hour. $150 for the hour, $27 for the thermostat. Simple job, but he explains what was wrong. I saw what he checked and was fast and efficient. Never felt cheated or slighted. I'd call him again easily for any size job. I hope he continues this great service.
