You like cheese, bread, butter, wine, vegetables? Have you tried Georgian food?…read more I hadn't until yesterday and I'm glad it was at Chama Mama! Service was wonderful - helped me understand the dishes, some good options to try as a first timer, and just generally made me feel very welcome. (Mushroom Soup Dumplings): 5/5 - Absolutely delicious in flavor - There's a special way to eat them, your server should teach you - The doughy top may not be for everyone but I enjoyed it. Forgot to write down everything else - food was all great! Patio seating outdoor is nice and loved the drinks as well.

The khinkali were juicy, flavorful dumplings with that perfect burst of broth inside. I am a big fan of brothy dumplings; however, the dough was slightly thicker than I usually like. Nonetheless, flavor was good. The Adjaruli khachapuri was definitely the star of the meal! It was warm, cheesy, and incredibly creamy. I loved that you can add an egg on top, which makes it even richer and gives it that perfect velvety texture when mixed together. The adjapsandali (eggplant dish) was also delicious, with a great balance of vegetables and a kick of various spices. Highly recommend trying this place at least once with a group of friends or family!

He suggested this place in the West Village, but we couldn't get a table there at the time we wanted to go. Fortunately, I was able to find that they had another location in Midtown and we were able to get a table. I have never had Georgian food before and was excited to try it. From the second, we walked in our experience was excellent. The restaurant was very charming with a very chic feel. Our server was so gracious and helpful in explaining the menu. We tried several traditional dishes, and they were all out outstanding. The food was so flavorful. We had the eggplant rolls and the Adjaruli Khachapuri as an appetizer. Both were amazing! They left me wanting more. For the main course I had the Chanakhi (lamb stew). This dish was so delicious. The lamb was tender and the sauce was savoy, perfectly seasoned and had so much flavor. My daughter had the Shkmeruli (chicken with garlic sauce). This creamy garlic sauce was amazing. I need to figure out how to make it. My son had the Kupati (house made sausages). I can honestly saw these were some of the best sausages I've ever had. The flavor was so unique and delicious. My son's girlfriend, who is a vegan, had the cauliflower with walnut sauce. The cauliflower was roasted perfectly and the walnut sauce is like nothing I've ever had before. It was so creamy that it made me question whether or not it had dairy in it. Another hit. To finish it off, we had the Khinkali which are these huge soup dumplings with beef and pork filling. Our server told this traditionally they eat them at the end of a meal so we follow tradition. Fortunately, our server explained to us how to eat them by holding them upside down and taking a small bite and drinking the soup out. These were massive and more than I should've eaten after appetizers and a main course. Nevertheless, we enjoyed them thoroughly. I really enjoyed this restaurant and the experience. I felt like I experienced something new that I can't wait to come back to.

Unfortunately, we were a group of three, so we were seated a little awkwardly by the live music corner away from the rest of the dining room, though it didn't cause too many interruptions in our conversation. We were all intrigued by the Georgian lemonade option on the drink menu. They were more like flavored sodas. I had the cream, which tasted exactly like vanilla cream soda. I tried my friends' pear and tarragon, and would get the tarragon next time as it was nice and herbal to complement the cheesy heavy dishes to follow. We started with the beet salad with goat cheese, which came with a raspberry sauce. I sometimes find it off putting if the beet is too earthy and bitter, but the beets were done well, flavorful without being too strong. The salad was really refreshing and much needed to pair with our khachapuri, which we ordered with spinach and special smoked cheese. The presentation was fun, a little funny because the wait staff kept accidentally spinning the whole plate in their effort to mix everything in. I love cheese and bread, so this was a true highlight. For main, we had the megrhuli karcho, which was stewed beef in a walnut sauce served with Georgian grits cake. The beef was tender but honestly all of the starters stole the show and the walnut sauce wasn't that flavorful. I did like the gritty texture of the walnut sauce against slightly packed gritty texture of the grits cake, but my friend found it mushy and boring. If I go back, I would load up on the khachapuri and the salad.

When I finally got her attention for sour cream for my daughter's khinkali she said they ran out. Hard to believe. We brought a bottle of wine as parents said it was BYOB. Wrong. Turns out they just started serving a small selection of specialty wine, so now there was a corking fee - $30 added to the bill for each!! What!?! No sign or note on the menu. I would have put the bottle back in the car if I'd known. Didn't open the wine for us or offer an ice bucket, nothing, just added to the bill. Felt ripped-off and will never return.

They had a cozy small dining space with few tables and booths to dine-in. The interior of the restaurant was so nice, with the beautiful art and paintings on the wall. We started with soft and fluffy Shoti bread. We got to order a bunch of things from the menu. Shish Kabab, chicken/lamb dumplings and Tabaka (small fried chicken) were decent dishes. Chanakhi (lamb stew) was a best dish to be, had amazing flavor and stew was delicious. Adjaruli was the iconic Georgian dish on the table, filled with enormous amount of cheese, mixed with poached egg. Our server was super friendly. All our dishes kept coming out within small interval. The prices of the items were so cheap, we were surprised to see the total of the check. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience at Shoti.

So many great Georgian restaurants in Southern Brooklyn and Central Queens with fantastic food but missing an element of drinks, service, or atmosphere. This restaurant has everything. We ordered all the classics: Georgian natural wine, adjaruli khachapuri, lamb khinkali, and chicken tabaka with a creamy garlic sauce. Service was excellent. Very attentive and the staff gave some helpful tips to better enjoy the food. Wine was chilled and was the perfect option to match the big flavors and soothe on a hot summer day. Slightly funky along with fruity flavors without being sweet. We had khachapuri as the first course. Perfect ratio of bread to the cheese filling. Big notes of rich and creamy umami. Very cozy dish. Second course was the traditional lamb khinkali - four massive dumplings per order. The meat had the typical blend of black pepper and onions that's frequently used in Eastern European / west Asian dumplings. Again big on umami. Dumplings were very juicy without being messy. Final course was the chicken tabaka. Sauce was similar to a garlicky Alfredo. A garlic lovers delight. Make sure to bring some breath mints for afterwords Chicken was roasted to a slight crispyness. It was very tender and juicy. Sauce was the star of the dish. They provided a couple slices of bread to mop up the sauce. As mentioned earlier, excellent service. Full bar with wine, beer, and liquor. House cocktail list and I think all the wines were sourced from Georgia. I believe there were two restrooms. The one I used was a single occupancy, gender neutral one. Atmosphere was informal yet tidy. Could dress up or dress down and neither would look out of place.

I went with 45 women from our development. When you walk into the restaurant, we were greeted warmly from the owner, Katie. Her mom does the cooking and she has a baker who gets there at 5:00 am to start making the breads. Many of their counter displayed - jarred items come directly from their home country. We started out with a savory, fresh salad of tomatoes, cucumbers and thinly sliced red onions. We were served, their classic cheese pie, Khink Ali, which is like a wonton, with 3 types of ground meat, eggplant, beef stew, chicken kabobs and a most delicious dessert. They make everything fresh for you. Nothing was prepared ahead of time. While we were there, Katie, had a video of her country and was explaining pieces of it. This was very intimate, since we took up the whole restaurant.
