A pleasant breakfast where I had waffles and chicken while my husband had a chorizo wrap. Both were good, especially the wrap filled also with guacamole, cotija cheese, some pico de gallo and sour cream. I finished half of the burrito even though it wasn't mine. Waffles were presented so beautifully. This was definitely shareable; loaded with fresh fruit, slices of bananas, strawberries and blueberries. Fried chickens were ok. Chat & Griddle is a hidden gem! The food is delicious, the portions are generous , and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Since everything is made to order, don't come if you are in a hurray. Small, intimate spot in a residential area of Kenilworth. The menu is unique and innovative. Last time I was there I ordered an egg white Caprese Omelet topped with Basil flavored crumbles. I thought I died and went to heaven. I never tasted anything so delicious. I think I found my GO-TO place for a yummy breakfast!!! This is a family-run place, great vibes and family oriented. You see families with kids having breakfast. I have to say the first time around I came here I had some eggs + turkey sausage + whole wheat toast (not great) probably my fault though. First time stepping in, thought it looked a little pricey. Got the Matty Ice wrap. It blew my mind. Crispy chicken cutlet, delicious special sauce, touch of bacon - legit one of the best wraps ive had in my life. Worth every penny. The banana bread and crumb cake were so stupidly good. Super moist and tasty. Service was super friendly, im guessing the owner rang us up. Seems like a great guy. Came back two more times for the wraps. What a great find. After passing this place all the time we finally stopped in. I know why it received 5 stars on YELP. I have to agree. My boyfriend got 3 eggs sunnyside up with potatoes and toast with and a side of sausage. He actually didn't like the sausage but I did. He was expecting links and it was a pretty big slab. I had the chicken, Brie, and fig jam sandwich and was delighted about the formula of it all. Just enough of everything and the bread was charred perfectly. We will definitely be back. read more

Stopped in because it was one of the only non commercial places I saw on my route to work. I walked in and I was greeted with a welcoming smile and hello. The menu offers a lot of different breakfast and lunch options from omelets to cold sandwiches, soups and hot sandwiches. I ordered a BEC and it was $8.90 which is pretty steep, but it was very good. The inside is simple with tables to dine in but you can also order for takeout. They have a soda machine and a fridge with different juice options including chocolate milk and water. The amount of sauce on the bread is actually insane and makes it impossible to eat without the chicken literally sliding off. The chicken itself was as dry as a desert. And keep in mind two sandwiches, side of fries, and two fountain drinks were $48 dollars... Wayy too overpriced for a mediocre meal. Fries were kinda good. The ranch was bomb. I really don't understand the hype and the 4.9 stars..... I was expecting some amazing flavorful French toast. Hell, I make better French toast at home as an amateur. It literally tastes like thick, soggy cooked bread. There's no flavors of cinnamon, vanilla, nut meg or anything. The ONLY flavor is from the syrup. You're better off eating a slice of dry toast and dipping it in syrup. The portion size for the price is way off. I'm so disappointed and feel like I wasted money. read more

The chef of this place has a record of creating magic on the plate. Everywhere he's been and everywhere he goes. This is not fast food and it's not a diner. Everything you eat is made to your order. So yes it takes a little longer than a diner or Wendy's for those of you complaining. There are literally no airs about this place so it's helpful if you don't bring yours to the mix. We were in the area and wanted a quick bite for breakfast. Chat &Griddle popped up after a quick google search and we're so glad it did. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was honestly probably the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it and can't wait to return to have it again!! My partner had the breakfast platter and opted for pork sausage. I'm not a sausage person but holy cow this was the best sausage patty ever. It was nice and thick and had such good flavor. It definitely didn't taste like the average frozen sausage patties. His parents both ordered breakfast sandwiches and enjoyed it. Inside is small and cute. Service was very good as well. Love the food here. It's always incredibly fresh and deliciously made. It's a cozy joint that has consistently great service and food. I always order the steak bowl (bottom left in the photo), and I absolutely love it, but you seriously can't go wrong with any of their menu items. Johnny Napkins is a chain of pizza shops (they recently opened a location in Cranford) and it definitely has a sense of humor about itself. When you walk in the walls are painted with various characters including their mascot "Johnny Napkins". It really adds a fun feel to the space. They have plenty of seating including large tables with about 6-8 tall seats around them and a bar where individuals can sit and eat. Shakers with garlic salt, pepper and more are spread throughout the eatery so you can spice up your slices. The main counter has a glass case with a bunch of square and round pies on display. I wound up getting a slice with mushrooms and a BBQ chicken slice. Service was super friendly and efficient. These folks were *busy* with a constant stream of walk-ins and phone calls at the same time. I was very impressed. My slices came quickly and I sat at the counter to enjoy my food. The slice with mushrooms was excellent. Nicely heated up, a good crust and just the right amount of cheese. It was not too salty and had plenty of flavor. The BBQ chicken slice however featured a thicker crust (even though it was a slice from a round pie). I prefer a thinner crust but this was still good with a nice chew. The only reservation I had were the chunks of chicken themselves. They were a *tad* dry but this was the last slice on the platter, so I imagine it had been there for a minute (and I knew this, so this one's on me). I'm really glad I stopped into Johnny Napkins. Now I know it's a good slice and will definitely visit any of their locations in the future.

All three of the beverages were nicely presented and thoroughly enjoyed: Pistachio Latte, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and a Shaken Espresso. Personally, the Shaken Espresso was VERY GOOD. It was served in a tall glass and the cinnamon, once stirred throughout the entire glass, elevated the taste to deliciousness. Now, onto the entrees: Blueberry Pancakes (two buttermilk pancakes, topped with blueberry compote, whipped ricotta, and powered sugar). I was told, that these were the best pancakes they've ever had. My entree was the Ricotta Toast (house whipped ricotta, topped with roasted tomatoes, local NJ honey, and balsamic glaze). This was my first time having Ricotta Toast and it was better than any other Avocado Toast I've ever had. The ricotta was smooth, creamy, and the glaze gave every bite a pleasantly sweet addition to the already delectable selection. Almost Home General has skyrocketed to the top of my breakfast/brunch options and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, again. If Westfield is too far, they have other locations (Westwood, Jersey City, and Lincroft). Oh, and btw, they all have Google ratings of 4.5 and above. Nuff said.
