Hiring Geaux Movers was an absolute nightmare so here's your warning. Not only did they not do anything I hired them for, THEY LITERALLY ROBBED ME. I should add that they may also go by "Fast Affordable College movers" (which is a joke in itself) because this is who billed me. This was my experience: I had already moved a majority of my furniture and boxes but I decided I wanted to cut myself some slack and hire movers and not have to bug any more friends for help. I called Geaux Movers a few times before I hired them to get an estimate and schedule a day I could hire them. During each phone call, I mentioned I really only need help moving a heavy dresser and some loveseats from upstairs. The loveseats didn't even need to go in the truck; just moved downstairs. The woman on the phone always responded with "oh no problem, two guys can take care of that." I insisted the dresser was large and heavy but every time we spoke: "nah two guys can handle it." So two scrawny kids show up the day of, look at the dresser, and immediately say they can't do it and that I'll have to hire two more people who aren't available for hours and they would cost hundreds of more dollars. They insist they couldn't bring sofas downstairs either which was funny becuase I grabbed my roommate as he was leaving the house and we got it downstairs right in front of them without a problem. Red flags are popping up. Since I'm waiting to hear back from the office about the additional movers to come, they start packing up boxes and other misc. things. Soon enough, the truck is filled with things I didn't need a moving company for. We go to my new house to unload everything and one of the movers is constantly on his phone and I'm running laps around him unloading the truck and he keeps randomly mentioning how he "has to go soon" despite me hiring them and paying them based on however many hours it takes. I come inside the house a couple times to find him kind of wandering. Fast-forward. The truck is now empty, I didn't hear anything back from the office about getting the extra men, and the two "professional movers" didn't touch the things I actually needed their help with. Just after a couple hours of having these two move boxes that I could've moved myself, I'm now out ~$600 and I'm left the with same problems I had before they arrived. I pay them and walk inside to find my credit card placed in a weird spot I've never left it. Knowing I had a card found and moved around my house, I called the Geaux Movers office and said "Look, it's probably nothing but I want it known that some funny business could've happened with my card. There's no need to punish anyone or say anything but I'll be keeping an eye on this account and let you know if anything happens." Well sure enough, charges pop up on that account the following weekend. I call the office to tell them that unfortunately I was correct in thinking someone was taking my card info. The guy I'm talking to says its above his paygrade so he'll have his boss call me back. Days go by with no call. I call them back; same story. "The boss will give you call." Days go by; nothing. I end up calling these clowns every few days for weeks. Weeks turn into months and I finally get a hold of the boss. He goes by Woody. I'm telling Woody what happened and he immediately turns extra defensive and hostile and claims there's no relation to what happened with my card and the random charges a few days later. He then changes his MO to "I don't care about the charges, the charges mean nothing to me, I don't want to hear about them. I'll talk to my guys about this and get back to you in regard to you not being satisfied with what they did." I then explain to him that because one of them is now using my card, I have to cancel it and I'm without a card for at least a week. He goes on to say it's my fault I was robbed because I had a card loose in my house while strangers are there. He says he can't vouch for the men they send out and I'm a fool for having it somewhere they could grab it. MY FAULT, HE SAYS. I'm in the middle of moving... all of my possessions are everywhere... This is the last I heard from Woody despite calling them every week for months looking for some sort of a refund because their prices aren't as advertised, they didn't actually move any furniture I needed moved (which I ended up doing successfully with another friend so I know it could've been done just fine), and one of them legitimately robbed me. Oh, I even went to their business address on Banks St hoping to talk to someone and it's just some residential house who has nothing to do with the company. Turns out they're located it Mandeville and not the address they have listed. Don't hire these people. The owner is heinous, they aren't capable, and apparently, they're criminal. I ended up renting a van and having one friend come over to do all the things they claimed were impossible. Maybe Woody will finally call back after posting this. read more

The absolute worst moving company ever. Very Unprofessional, and a bunch of young kids. Gave us a quote of 2800 to pack and move a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath house, without coming to look at our house. WE hade to purchase the 26ft truck from Uhaul with a 500.00 deposit, because they didn't have a truck big enough to move our belongings. We also had to purchase moving supplies ($744.00) which should have been included in their quote. When the packers came, they were 2 hours late. They were to pack everything. We were told by the packers that they do not pack bathrooms, pantry nor alcohol. We had to finish taking things off of the walls, pack our bathrooms and our alcohol. They left the kitchen over half unpacked and the garage 3/4 unpacked. So when the movers came on Saturday to move, they spent 3 hours packing the rest of our things. Our pictures were just put on the back of the truck unwrapped. My corning ware and my dinner dishes were placed in a large boxes; unwrapped. Thank goodness only one dish was broken. They are trying to charge me for additional movers because of their poor estimating. I give this company 0 stars! I had a move scheduled on March 1, 2019 and had my sister waiting because I could not get out of work. They stated they would be there between 8 and 9 o'clock in the morning. After waiting till past 9 I called only to find out that the truck broke down (The truck as in they must only have 1). Then when I asked for a time to have my sister go back to wait he wouldn't give one I guess she was supposed to wait all day for them on the off chance they showed up. Lawrence was so rude I cannot believe this is anywhere near a professional moving company. Also they require a deposit and a 3 hour minimum, most companies have a 2 hour minimum and no deposit. So all this to say... If you're moving, DO NOT SELECT THIS COMPANY! It's all professional until moving day! I had to pick a star to post but they do not deserve it. read more

Kendall and his team were wonderful! We moved last week from Mandeville, LA to Austin, TX (our 10th long distance move). I hired a team of 3 to load our 3bd/2ba house into 4 Relocubes. Kendall came a few days before to get an idea of what they were loading. They took care of each box, each painting, and each piece of furniture with care. They meticulously organized the cubes for delivery. We received the cubes on Tuesday and everything looked exactly how they packed it! If I would've known beforehand, I would've hired them for the entire move! For the amount of work, carefulness, and price, you can't beat hiring Geaux Movers. read more

This is the worse movers ever. Their moving service was very bad and just as bad customer service. I schedule Geaux movers to move me out my apartment into my house. They send me one experience mover and one that had no clue what he was doing. The experience mover had to show the other everything. This kid had no common sense so all I seen was more time being add onto the clock which is more money for them plus damages to my furniture. They left boxes in the rain for them to get soaked, dragged my dresser on the cement so that it was chipped the bottom. Scratching my nightstands, foot and head board, put my sofa in the garage when it wasn't rain and decided to move it into the house when it was pouring down rain so my sofa was dragged on its front on the ground and in the rain so it got soaked and dirty. My mattress was dragged in either the truck or ground so it got dirty on its side. They also charged my card right away that I used for the deposit without my authorization, I was planning to use a different card and for more then my contract amount. I complained right away to Lawrence the owner who just yelled at me and was rude. Talked to a lady named Melissa who was told to me by Lawrence that she was the owner to find out that Lawrence was the owner. I dont understand playing games about who owns it. They told me that they was going to send me claim form which they never did. Melissa told me she was going to give me a partial refund which she never did. They just now ignore my emails so I filed a complaint with the BBB and possibly a small claims if not resolved. I know now never use a hourly moving company because they will drag it out to charge you more. read more

I had made an appointment with them to move some furniture. Was very excited that they called before arrival and were prompt and courteous. Spoke with them over the phone and said I had furniture that was upstairs and very heavy that would most likely need more than 2 people to move. Sent me two guys who did their best to move the furniture, but still managed to drop my dresser down the stairs, thankfully it didn't get damaged. My rating is due to a piece of my mirror being broken and after many phone calls to get the piece ordered and I called the place I got it from to help the guys out I never received my replacement part in the mail and no follow up call was made. For a company that says they are insured they definitely dropped the ball on this, but I guess after you get paid it really doesn't matter on customer satisfaction. Don't recommend unless you're okay with not getting damaged furniture repaired. read more

The movers arrived late and in a UHaul truck. The owner never discussed the day prior that they would be arriving in a UHaul truck. I guess Geaux Movers included the $98 service fee for renting the truck. My home had three flights of stairs; they only sent two movers. The movers were ill-equipped to move and asked to use my packing supplies to load our items. The owner informed us the day prior that Geaux Movers charges $100+ for their packing supplies; we declined using that service. They struggled to carry the furniture, so my husband had to assist them. In some rooms, they left marks along the wall while carrying our items down the stairs. When breaking down the furniture, they had no place for the screws. They also put our furniture together, missing several screws. They were nice, but we would definitely not recommend using this company for the price we paid and the service we received. read more

I would give them no stars if possible. They sent 2 men (not movers) with a small truck, which already had some furniture in it, to pack up an entire 4 bedroom house. They were 30 minutes late and had to take another 30 minutes just to move around the furniture that was in the back of the house. Thank goodness we had already packed and moved 85% of the house and just about 15 pieces of heavier furniture were remaining to move. These guys were very, very slow (because they didn't know how to move furniture). It took them from 11am to 10pm to move the furniture 2 miles. The owner of Geaux Movers, Tom, talks a big game, but cannot deliver. He promised professional movers that would wrap and protect furniture and know how to move a grandfather clock. None of this was even remotely true. I have moved a lot over my life-time and this was the worst day ever - July, 2020. Don't hire them. read more

I can not say enough about Geaux movers...about how horrifically bad they were. For one, it doesn't exist anymore. It was bought out by College Student Movers over five years ago yet CSM uses the name as a front, along several other area moving services in the area. Thus, you never know who will show up. Our crew showed up with a total of 20 boxes, even though we had told them the move would involve seven tons by wait. 20 boxes handled just our books. They repeatedly missed their own estimates on time and materials needed. When unpacking we found they had taken our bath towels, personal its and linens and used them as packing material. One box says it all. We opened it to find potatoes, onions and garlic loose packed with an open can of Comet and an open bottle of toilet bowl cleaner. In addition, there was silver scattered throughout and a basket full of boots which appeared to be upside down. Turns out when they made up the box that they taped the top of the box for the bottom. Then delivered it right side up spilling everything. Don't ask what condition they left the move site. Finally the driver was told to remain with us until payment was received, even though we had paid for the days work within 2 hours of receiving the invoice even though it contained previously undisclosed charges. I could go on, but I think you may have gotten the picture, so I'll just say, I don't recommend their use. read more
