This is a specialty store; they supply billiard & bowling items.. Much as I like to play pool, I have nowhere to put a pool table.. *sigh, one day* But I digress.. I've never seen a place like it! (and that's a good thing!) A friend of mine recommended; since I've been considering a new bowling ball and she just bought one at Gebhardt's... I just cannot say enough about the customer experience here! I wish I'd known about this store before I bought mine & my husbands' new bowling shoes! We will be back! and we WILL be telling friends/family! The store is a little cluttered, but very organized, and from the second you walk in you just get that warm n fuzzy mom & pop shop kind of feel; where you know you're just downright going to get the best. And we did. The bowling department was a little on the crowded side, and seemed to only be manned by Ed (who was AWESOME!) but he handled it well. We waited about 15 minutes for him to be free and help us out, again though I must say - worth the wait. This guy is like Dr. Bowling... he took the time to explain things/items/techniques, and answered questions - he really made us feel like he enjoyed and loved both his job and the sport. What I really liked is that, I am a recreational (for fun only) bowler, and he treated me just as well as he treated the serious pro-leaguers that were in there. He was honest, and no nonsense, and didn't try to upsell me or make me feel like my ignorance of the sport and ball types was in any way inconvenient to him. As a matter of fact, I'd like to say he was entertained by us. In any case, I don't know if it's because my husband mentioned the ball was my birthday present or what, but he measured my grip, custom drilled and engraved my ball with my name right then and there; fit it perfectly to my hand, and pretty much taught me how to throw this ball that's so different from my old $20 Kmart special one that the finger holes were way too big for me. I cannot wait to go bowling next weekend with my beautiful new ball! Thanks again to Ed; who just plain out ROCKED! Ordered a dartboard frame / scorekeeper; website stated that it was in stock. After 3 weeks of no-show, I called the place 4 times and left messages with customer service; no reply. On call 5, a month after order, someone finally picks up and tells me that they will get back to me; never do. On call 6, I'm informed the product is out of stock (website lied) and they have no idea when coming back; then they hang up on me. We bought our second pool table from this family owned establishment. This place is by far the superior billiard store in the area. The customer service is wonderful and accommodating. We rescheduled three times because of contracting delays and they were so understanding and kind. Our pool was just delivered and setup today and the guys were efficient and professional, it looks perfect. They ensured the spacing would be correct for stick clearance. I highly recommend. I was extremely disappointed in the customer service based on my experience and also witnessing how an employee treated another customer. While waiting for someone to help us (after about 15-20 min in the store), I saw two ladies ask for assistance. After they walked away, the saleslady asked another employee to help them and told him "these broads were being a pain in the a$$." FYI-I did not see them ask for anything unreasonable. For reference, they wanted to purchase a floor model of a light fixture that was for sale which had to be taken down bc it was the last one. When I asked the saleslady for help with the shuffleboards when she was done ringing her customer, she told me to ask the other guy when he was done helping the other ladies. We waited around for a bit but by this time were so turned off by the way she spoke about the other customers and having to wait for 30 min to not even be acknowledged without request. I came to gebhardts with one of my clients who has idd. Gebhardts was extremely helpful, completely professional, understanding, and patient with us. They treated us with the upmost respect. We got a bowling ball, shoes and a bowling bag. They measured him for the bowl and drilled the ball right away. They showed us how the ball and shoes are placed in the bag. Today we went to get our son his first bowling ball for his birthday next month. The woman was completely rude, informed us she had no one to measure him and when we asked when she said maybe Monday. She then proceeded to slam through the door to the back. Needless to say we will be buying his ball and all our other bowling supplies somewhere else.
