Excellent beer menu--the on-tap choices were tremendous and varied. As a cider/sweeter beer drinker, that I had multiple options was grand. The service was really bad. It was lunch but there were open tables so it wasn't at full capacity. It took 1-1/2 hrs for lunch for two with no cocktails. Had to ask for condiments three times. My tacos were ice cold by the time I was given my sour cream. Also, I was made fun of for asking for extra aioli for my daughter's burger. I was at liberty street tavern in Allentown this past weekend. I entered with my fully trained service animal. I openly disclosed that he was a service animal, demonstrated that he followed commands, and confirmed that he was trained to perform a specific task & what that task was. Even still, this establishment REFUSED SERVICE. They said without documentation I could not be served. I informed them that this was illegal & even contacted APD, at which point I was told that if I didnt leave I would be arrested for trespassing. Even the APD told me to "just give them the paperwork and make this go away". The ADA exists for a reason. I should not have my rights violated because this establishment doesn't know the law. While i will never return, I hope you all don't either. read more

No frills tavern right across from the Muhlenberg campus. There's some outdoor seating and inside there's plenty of tables. We got a flight to try out different beers which we thought was very affordable. We got wings to share (flavors were bang bang and Nashville hot) and it does come with celery and blue cheese or ranch. The wings are relatively large and bigger compared to places like wing stop or Buffalo Wild Wings. We personally didn't love the flavors we got as we weren't expecting the Nashville hot to be a dry rub. The bang bang was a good mix of sweet and creamy but we're not sure we would get it again. Other than the flavors, we would say the wings were cooked well. They were crispy but still moist. One thing to not miss out on are the boardwalk fries. We unexpectedly really enjoyed them. We're not typically thick cut fries people but these were done just right. They were super crisp but still nice and soft! Lastly, the burger was a UNIT. Super big, moist, and the combination of all the fresh vegetable toppings with their special sauce was delicious. The homemade chips were the perfect addition. Nice and crispy although the seasoning was a little sporadic. Highly recommend checking out this place for some casual American food that's affordable. read more

Decided to randomly stop by here during my commute from one area back to the hotel I was staying at. I'm glad that I did as I got to meet two girls who I ultimately ended up sharing conversations with. As well as one of the girls bought us all shots. I realized during my time out in Pennsylvania I greatly appreciated the cost of drinks. It was such a nice change, especially coming from California. I ultimately got two Jack and cokes my total for both were for $15. It was also nice to see that if you paid in cash, it would be slightly cheaper which is what I ended up doing. read more

Nice clean bar, festive lights and really good bar food! Wings were breaded in something that made them nice and crispy. Sauces were really good- ghost pepper sauce had a perfect bite. I like the creativity they have here throughout the menu. Their craft beer list is mind blowing. I sampled The Mac Daddy -- is their spin on a Big Mac Pizza. The crust was excellent. The rest of the pie was novelty for me. I would have preferred iceberg lettuce over the romaine. The leafy parts of the Romain got funky from the heat of the pizza. I think they have a great crust here. The bar service was nothing remarkable. It could use a little polish. Took my order, filled my drink; nothing more nothing less. This place lost my support a long time ago. I live in far away place down south where it's warm and sunny all the way through. I used to come back home and come to this place and it was kind of a nice reminder of what was once a place that I enjoyed going to. I would play pool there with my friends. I tried nice exciting new beers. Their pizza was good. Their pierogies were good. But the biggest problem with this place is the disrespectful staff. They're pretentious and long-standing employees of the company. They give you dirty looks when you say something about a beer or the food or anything. I had a cup here. In order to get that cup you had to try all the beers on the menu. It took me about five years and maybe $3000. Returning one holiday season I asked for my cup, and they said they don't have it. They said I never had one. And tough luck. I was really disappointed. And then the pierogies weren't so good. I expressed my opinion, and was given a despondent response. I wouldn't go here ever again. They make all their money off the college kids, which are their neighbors. And they have a lot of weird regulars. None of my local friends will go here anymore. And I will not recommend this place to anybody. read more

This is a good "dive bar" to hang out with a couple of friends and talk. I ordered the chicken wings, 6 with the blue heat sauce and 6 with the Parmesan sauce. The blue heat was good. However they were not that hot. They have white heat sauce as well which I will try if I am ever back there. I am always a little scared to try the hottest sauce in a place right off the bat. I have been burned that way in the past. That being said since the blue heat was not that hot, I will try the white heat next. The Parmesan wings were kind of covered in a white creamy sauce. They would have been better if the Parmesan was cooked into the wings. The wings themselves were very meaty and quite tasty. As far as the environment. This is your typical dive bar, but it is not very loud which makes it nice for talking. The service was attentive and they kept our drinks filled. Walked up the stairs to the booth and the floor was super sticky when you walked on it. So decided to sit in the bar area. After sitting down a waitress came over and she was great super nice. So we normally go to this bar after work and we have been here a few times. So there is normally from 5 to 10 of us. We are not related or family so common sense would make everyone there own tab. This time there was 7 of us. At the end of the night as we all are ready to leave we asks for our tab. The one staff member said they do not split tabs up with this many people. they bring us a tab of 390.00. Most of us do not have cash. So one guys goes up and wants to put his portion his his credit card. They told he he could not and one person would have to pay the entire thing. That is crazy because a bar that has been in business for many years would split tabs. And this is not the first time we have been there and they have split it in the last. As we looked at the bill further there was food on the bill that no one ordered or got. As we went to get that corrected we were met with attitude. He brought a new bill back and threw it onto the table as he walked away. This will be the last time our group goes to this bar. The staff has become disrespectful. read more

Not sure if I've ever had anything I did not fancy from the Tavern, but I must say their bacon fig jam goat cheese burger is over the top fantastic. Huge shout out to this place .. they keep the drinks coming and are serving up good food. It's not just bar food but their menu offers good variety for a lot of different vibes. The chicken Wings are fire , the fact that they offer them extra crispy is just a huge bonus. It may sound weird, but the Buffalo cauliflower wings are just as yummy . Also this place has the personal touch that many other places in the area are lacking . Our server Kyle remembered my sister and I after we came in pregaming a funeral over 15 months ago . Went last night for a late dinner with my man and his roommates. I'd been once before and was definitely impressed with their beer selection. Lots on tap and even more in bottles -- a lot I've never even heard of, too. What's better, you can buy individual bottles for just $3.50 (yep, any bottle) or a make your own six pack for $13.99. The menu is varied and full of delicious fare. Both times I've been there I've started with the crab bisque. Thick and chock full of chunks of crab and shredded crab meat. Served in a large portion with 2 pieces of garlic bread. Definitely enough for a meal in itself. I've also had "The New Yorker," a pastrami sandwich on garlic bread with swiss and mustard. Wow it is tasty. They pile the pastrami high so just half is enough. All of the sandwiches are large enough that you only need half to satisfy any hunger. I would've much preferred if the sandwich had been heated so the meat was warm and the cheese was melted, but it was very tasty. Since I'd only eaten half, the leftovers were quite delicious (heated up in the toaster oven!) at the office today. The nachos come in quite a large portion and are thick flour tortilla chips instead of the thinner, crunchy corn kind. They were smothered in cheese sauce (not really cheese, sadly) and all the fixings were separated in each corner so if you didn't want lettuce or tomatoes or salsa or onions, you could avoid them. Genius. The onions were in rings, so that made it awkward to eat, but it was all good. The service was a bit slow -- we probably waited what seemed like 20 or more minutes for our check once we asked for it. There was only one fella working as server where they definitely could've used two. It is a place for sitting and shooting the shit for a while, but we were hoping to get our check much quicker so we could get going since it was pretty late. My least favorite thing about the experience was how strangely high the booth seats on the upper split level were compared to the floor. I'm 5'7" myself and my feet were dangling and I could only touch the floor if I slouched in my seat. Could definitely use foot rests under those tables. Oh and it's a smoking bar (yuck). Nice, relaxed atmosphere for just relaxing and enjoying great beer and food. Will definitely be back. read more

We stopped here on our way through Allentown and it was exactly what we were looking for. A little divey - the tavern was no frills with a great food menu, pool tables and a full bar. They had a happy hour special on draft beers that took $1 off (4pm-7pm) - and the draft list was pretty extensive. We ordered the chicken ceasar salad and the burger. Burger was a perfect medium cook, fries were hot and crispy. The salad was large, chicken good well and the dressing tasted homemade. I wish we lived closer because this place would be a staple in our rotation. read more
