I believe Stahley's is under new management or ownership--I hadn't been there in a couple of years, and went to check it out last Friday. The staff was friendly and right on top of drink orders. I thought our group ordered a lot of food, too, but that came out quickly as well. My favorite thing to order previously at Stahley's was the corn nugget appetizer, and I'm happy to say that whatever changes occurred behind the scenes, the corn nuggets are still 100% perfect. They have a nice beer selection, a bunch of items on tap. I think I had four Miller Lites, a Dox Equis, and a PBR. I like the game area too, with the pool table, juke box, and that weird ring-on-a-string game that I can never manage. The clams are still good and our new waitress did a solid job -- that's the only reason they're getting one star. The Broiled Seafood Dinner was basically rubber on a plate. Completely flavorless. My friend ordered the Black Gold Steak medium, and it came out nearly raw. Sent it back, and it returned burned to a crisp -- well‑well done and tasting like it came off a dirty grill. Stahley's Cellarette is a sports bar and family restaurant located on Hanover Avenue in Allentown. Now under new ownership, it's open daily from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. I grew up on the East Side of Allentown, so I've been coming to Stahley's for as long as I can remember. When I heard it had changed ownership, I was curious to see what, if anything, was different, and whether the food still held up to the Stahley's I've known for years. Walking through the front door, the interior looked just as I remembered, unchanged and familiar. I really hope they keep it that way. The menu has been updated, but they've kept the steamed clams and cheesesteaks, the dishes I come here for. The clams haven't changed a bit, same size, same $5.75 a dozen price, and still served with rich brown butter. The cheesesteak is also right on par, still served with peppers, pickles, and sauce. My only gripe is the roll, as it didn't hold up. I also tried the wings, and they were bigger and better than before. A few more minutes in the fryer, and they would have been perfect. My friend ordered the grilled chicken Caesar wrap with fries. Since she gets it all the time at Sibri's, she knew she wouldn't be disappointed. The service was solid. We were seated immediately, and our server Sondra took great care of us. There are a few minor kinks to work out, but I think the new owners are doing a great job so far. read more

I am a connoisseur of dive bars and my research repeatedly turned up Stahley's. Liked it so much we went twice on our long weekend in the area. Bartenders were fast and friendly and the folks at the bar were fun to watch as they sang along or played the air guitar to Bruce Springsteen, Journey, and Bob Segar. My draft pint was $3.50. Wings were great. If I lived here, I'd be a regular singing Springsteen too. read more

My wife and I went for breakfast. We were so happy that they brought the Sibris breakfast menu to Stanley's with the new ownership - great breakfast omelets, French toast and some of the best crepes in the valley. Great coffee and friendly service too! The new owner did keep some of the Stanley's favorites such as steak sandwiches and steamed clams but added some great items. read more

We've been coming to Staley's for more than 25+ years. Crazy how time has flown by! Yes, things have changed but I think that they have changed for the better. This is our "go to" spot when I don't feel like cooking. We had dinner this evening. I ordered a California burger with cheese cooked MR. It was cooked perfectly and the meat patty was a MUCH better quality than under previous ownership. Granted the prices are higher to reflect the better patty but the food is much better. read more

When we moved to the area well over a decade ago, Stayley's was one of our first visits for some local food. At that time we left vowing never to return as the food was uninspired and taste of burnt old oil. You could tell the grill hadn't been cleaned in a long time and most of the food was freezer to table. Fast forward 13 years and we decided to give it a second try. Maybe new management would have turned it around.... Nope. The cheesesteak literally has no cheese and the meat (whatever it was) tasted old and dry. When it was mentioned to the server, they said, "5-10 times a week people complain about the cheesesteak and I get the same answer from the kitchen: this is the way it's been done for 50 years!" The fries were cold with no crisp. The dinner roll was stale. The crab cake was a pile of squishy something- No crust or crunch at all. And the macaroni and cheese, which is a mockery to Mac and cheese everywhere was without a doubt the worst I've ever tasted in my life. I looked around to see if we were being punked. Literally. Barely warm elbows were begging to be saved from a thin pool of bland afterthought. I offer two stars as the only thing worth eating was the BLT and the server was attentive, warm, and understanding if not empathetic. I live just down the street and wish I could be a regular but it will be at least another 13 years before I risk another night of sleep. read more

Never again! My family has been eating here for many years and always looked forward to their iconic cheese steaks but after new management took over the cheese steaks were horrible. Hardly any meat and the bread falling apart. Prices have gone up substantially in addition to the food quality going down substantially. Their menu resembles a diner menu with newly added overpriced items. You didn't see the usual clientele or the crowds you saw for years. I would be surprised if this place survives with the low quality food and high prices. read more

My fiancée worked there and after the new owner took over, she forced loyal employees out of their jobs and replaced them with her own workers. She told my fiancée that they'd "call him when they need him" after cutting his hours, and then proceeded to not call him. He told me how they replaced the POS system and didn't even train the current and new hires how to work them (I work with systems like this and they are not easy to figure out on your own) She refused to pay him what she owed him after cutting his hours because they were also changing the way that they were going to do payroll. We also have been going to Stahley's for many years and on the Saturday evening before Mother's Day we decided to give the new ownership a try. Never again. There were a few smaller type issues which are far surpassed by my wife getting a chicken parm sandwich which was literally raw inside. Have never seen such a thing and none of our group of seven could even believe it. (Fortunately for her, she decided to cut it in half before she took a bite). It obviously was not temped and serving bloody raw chicken is completely unacceptable. We will not be going back. read more

Stopped in to this local favorite for a quick bite. There is nothing fancy about this place but the food and drinks are always good. We waited a few minutes to be seated. Our waitress brought water right away and we told her what we wanted to drink. She was a good waitress, very personable. I saw on the specials board there was an 8oz Lobster tail for only 23 dollars so I ordered that and my wife got the Ribeye, medium rare which was only 20 bucks and both came with sides. My lobster was delicious, very succulent and flavorful. My wife's ribeye was overcooked so we asked for a new one, medium rare. It was bought out in a few minutes and was perfect. Juicy and tender. This was a good choice for a very nice inexpensive dinner. read more

Sangria and halupki soup were good. Salad was okay. Charbroiled chicken breast, corned beef & cabbage, and Ruben sandwich were very good. Haddock stuffed with crabmeat, Shepard's pie and steamed clams were good. Crab cakes were okay Mashed potatoes and coleslaw were good, broccoli and cauliflower overcooked. The service is great but the food is just meh. It's okay but not great. It's also very expensive for what you get. $4.50 for a side of fries, $9 for a cheesesteak that's not too big. Overall, it's a dive bar with expensive food. Either the food quality and sizes need improvement or the prices need to be better. I just feel for what we pay there are better places out there for the type of food and the price. Updated to respond to the manager who just commented. I have eaten at many places. I stand by my review. Stanley's is expensive for what you get. The prices need to be better OR the food quality and portions need to improve. Everything is an add on and it's not great. Sad to say I have to give my childhood restaurant a 2 star rating. But damn what happened? Service wasn't that great from the beginning. Our waitress said we had to move because the high chair would be a fire hazard at the end of a table booth. So I move to a table next to us. Moved the extra chair over by the booth (where the highchair would've been) and the whole time, the waitress left it there & didn't move it. But couldn't put my child in a high chair because it's a fire hazard. Secondly my mother got a tavern burger which lists it has horseradish & ranch on it. So all she got was a cup of ranch with a bacon cheeseburger basically. Then not to mention the sweet potato Fries were entirely over cooked she didn't even eat them. Good food, cool restaurant. I had the chicken cheesesteak sandwich. I called in my order then picked it up, so I didn't spend a lot of time inside this place but it seems like a cool spot to eat. The waitress that helped me was very friendly. My food was ready in about 10 minutes which was awesome. The chicken sandwich was good. I think my favorite part was the sauce. I also had sweet potato fries, which were pretty good also. I'm sure they have plenty of good food at this place. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

They have been open since 1968. By the looks of the inside they kept the same decor. That's not a bad thing. The perfect place to go if you love homemade food at a very good price. It reminds me of a comfy bar/restaurant with pool tables too btw from my hometown. Great place to go if you want to pound down some booze and not be criticized. Not saying that would be my plan.
