The bill for my one-time optometrist appointment was $1,829, with my out-of-pocket charge being $760. I understand that healthcare companies need to be profitable but this bill reflects corporate greed. It is the kind of bill that deters patients from seeking the medical care they need. I have been trying to negotiate this bill for months, but Optum is unwilling to adjust the charges to a more "Usual and Customary" rate. When I last spoke with a supervisor in billing she said she would get back to me and never did. I have never not paid a bill until this one. I will never use this company again for healthcare.

They recommended me endoscopic proceedure for which They charged me 1000 dollars upfront , I paid that money in cash in good faith. They billed my insurance and Later they send me bill of 265 dollars as my deductible. I called several times to clarify the issue that office has already charged me 1000 dollars and each time they said that I still have to pay the amount. Frustrated with their staff I called up my insurance and asked for clarification,they told me that the doctor office is in contract with the insurance and they are not suppose to charge you the amount. The kind insurance lady made a three way call and clinic staff admitted that they are at fault and THEY OWE ME THE MONEY. So this is the case of over billing and fraud billing which is not resolved till date . I never recieved my money back which should roughly between500 to 700 dollars. First, they are almost impossible to get in touch with -- interminable hold times, and although you can request a call back when it's your turn, they almost never call back. Then when you finally do get them on the phone, they say they'll take care of your problem but never follow through. I've spent *countless* hours over six months trying to get them to fix an incorrect bill, which they acknowledge is incorrect and keep promising to send a revised claim to my insurer but they NEVER follow through. I've had to spend countless hours on this over the past six months having the same conversation over and over again with them, to no avail. It's like Groundhog Day. I was instructed to not eat or drink in the ER all night, all morning. Dresnik sent his PA, Michelle, the next morning who was cold and rude to tell me he was not doing the scope, it wasn't an emergency. His PA said he didn't even know who I was. Complete lie!!!! Then she stepped out to speak to with a nurse about Botox and a new boyfriend.
