And his prices are not out of line. I suspect there are a number of computer repair companies that charge more than he does. He showed up on time and was professional. I called James to fix an issue with my laptop. We disagreed about what was causing the problem and when his initial fix didn't work I told him I was unsatisfied. James came back to my house, picked up the laptop and applied the fix that I thought was necessary, even though he didn't think it would fix the issue. He did this extra work over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Fast forward a month - In the end, James's initial diagnosis was correct. The extra work he did to make me happy, which he didn't charge me for, wasn't the solution. While his review of me as a customer would probably be much less complimentary (deservedly so), I can't complain about the job James did. She seemed nice enough, but wasn't overly knowledgable about computers. After describing the issue a couple of times she told me that they no longer do hardware repairs. Saved my laptop in a couple of HOUSE CALLS! No one likes to spend money on troubleshooting technology or spend extra time getting to and from the computer repair shop. Geek on the Go helps in both those departments! James was able to fix my 4.5 year old laptop (which I'm pretty hard on) for less than half the cost of having to replace it. I have a beast of a machine to be able to work remotely and it started to refuse to get through the boot process to be usable again. I was able to schedule an appointment quickly and he assessed the problems, worked efficiently, and suggested several options on how to proceed. We thought it might just need to have Windows reinstalled so he set everything up to install and offered to just let it keep installing while he went on to the next client (therefore halting the hourly rate so I wouldn't just be paying him to sit there and babysit the installation). I took that option and he offered to come back if it ended up not being able to install correctly. Turns out it was a hard drive issue and not just a windows issue. I called and left the message that I needed to schedule him to come back and he was kind enough to call me well after working hours had ended to set up the next appointment and review hardware replacement options with me. My wireless printer was unable to connect to the ATT router that I just had installed by ATT. I spent 6 hours on two different evenings on the phone with ATT Connect Tech out of India and the Phillipines and they only deactivated all of my settings and then told me they could not fix the problem. I run my own Recruiting Firm, TMS Recruiting and my hard drive indicated it was going to fail after I ran some diagnostic tests and realized I had to act fast. I called James at DFW Geek On The Go on Saturday and left a message, got a call back the same day and made an appointment for Monday morning to have James come to my home office and work on my laptop. I had previously called another IT repair chain but the costs were not only high but turn around time was 3-5 days and running my own Recruiting business, I couldn't afford to be with out my Laptop for up to 4 days. When I read the reviews about DFW Geek On The Go on Yelp and Angie's lists, I was pleased to find that local, great customer service still exists and the results were so cost effective. James took all the necessary information from me on Saturday, purchased a new hard drive for me so I didn't have to, showed up on Monday morning as promised with the new hard drive and was able to clone my old hard drive to my new one, ran tests to make sure all was working well and was in and out of my home office in around 2.5 hours.
