I am so grateful for this guy taking a few minutes to explain via telephone (he got no cash - such kindness!) how to conduct multiple cleanings on my Canon PIXMA ink jet printer using its built-in maintenance tools. I added an "ink flush" (also programmed on the physical printer's maintenance menu) and my printer is working like new again. I was close to spending $300 for a new printer but since this one is less than 2 years old, I thought of repair first. SO glad I called "GeekMan" Dan. First, I want to acknowledge that I should have monitored the time on Dan's visit better, but I never realized how long it would take him to try to figure out what to do. I could have, and had, already done research on my own, and that's why I called "an expert". I didn't think that I was calling someone who had no idea what to do and charged me to research, accomplishing nothing except making matters worse. This is why I want to let anyone who uses him to be aware. To explain, I had him come to my house to: 1. Fix my email that could receive, but could not send 2. Hook up my wireless printer, that was currently hardwired 3. Organize my computer and complete a transfer from another computer After hours and $360 later the result was: 1. My email could not receive or send 2. My wireless printer was hooked up, but could not scan, so had to hard wire again 3. Zero organization and transfer was done I was so frustrated and called him back so he could, hopefully fix what he had done free of charge, since it was his mistakes that caused this and I was hopeful he could get the information transferred. 2nd visit, $170 later, nothing at all was accomplished. Email still doesn't work, printer is still hardwired, and zero information was transferred. I've nearly surpassed the cost of my new computer and so frustrated. I honestly don't like to bash small business owners, and clearly, he has been able to help many people, but...If you use him, clarify if he knows how to accomplish what you need within a reasonable time frame. I also take responsibility for not realizing he charges $160 and hour plus $30 travel time! Again, I take responsibility on not managing this better, but I had never done this and live and learn. read more

I have used Dan's 'GEEK-MAN' computer repair services several times over the past three years or so, whenever my home desk-top system (a WIN-10 Dell PC) developed problems that exceeded my modest computer trouble-shooting abilities. The most recent difficulty involved my system unit's sudden failure to allow me to use the machine's file manager search option. There was no readily apparent precipitating event to explain things and when I turned to ferreting out on-line help sources (and ran through all the suggested MS trouble-shooting suggestions found therein), nothing helped resolve this perplexing problem. Since as a writer I am frequently called upon to retrieve certain files and images for my work, this was a MAJOR difficulty. Knowing that the present COVID-19 pandemic might well considerably complicate any repair visits, I nevertheless called Dan to see if he could drop by and help with this latest problem. Dan to the rescue! When Dan returned my call (promptly) he told me that he could most likely take care of my needs remotely, via a 'shared resources', downloadable program called 'Team Viewer'. I downloaded it, as Dan suggested, and he was able to remotely trouble-shoot my machine and rather quickly resolved the problem. Sure enough, difficulty resolved and although it was still not exactly clear what had caused the problem initially (most likely a clash with the latest WIN-10 update software), the fix was and is perfect! Dan is, in my opinion, one of the very best people you can contact whenever your home computer problem decides to give you fits! He is punctual, articulate, VERY knowledgeable, experienced and his services are also reasonable. My several experiences drawing upon Dan's resources (whether on-site or remotely, as above) have all been, without exception, absolutely positive! I spent years in the professional world as a software and hardware 'user', so I know a thing or two about IT people. I have used Dan's Geeky computer service for years and he has always been amazingly efficient and kind. When he comes to my home, he is friendly, kind and turned out to be a computer wizard all at the same time. He's never late, and is always polite while he fixes machines that seems to be nothing more to me than magical boxes. I called Dan, (who is a delight to speak with, even over the phone he is kind, understanding, patient, and knowledgeable) who said he could come help the next day. The next day?! How awesome! Not next week, the next day! AND he comes to your house! No going into those awful stores with computer parts strewn everywhere that makes you feel like you've walked into the land of dead and unloved electronics. He gave me a call to say he was on his way, and he arrived when he said he would, how rare these days! My neighbor built me a computer but somehow the software caused the computer to freeze after each reboot. We tried everything for at least 6 hours! I was in a pinch for not being able to resolve my computer issues on my own and then even used a place that used to be reliable and loyal and honest but they turned out to be nothing but rude and tried to rip me off and then to boot was being completely dishonest to the point I had to send a friend to pick up my computer because it would not been pretty scene if I went to the business. I picked to call Dan the Geek Man from what good reviews I count on because I was concerned about what harm my desktop may have gotten after having been a victim to those lock for ransom stuff people. I can't be any happier i called Dan out of a few more options I was considering. Pretty busy guy I managed to get a schedule with him today (Wednesday between 7-9am) from a call I made Saturday. Wow... what great service. First, the main difference between this company and some of the others I have used is that the person on the phone when you call is the same guy who comes to do the work; e.g. It is not just some call center business with "independent contractors" that is shaving off a profit on someone else's work. And the ownership shows in the quality of service and accountability. Just had Dan with GeekMan root out a very nasty virus that had gotten past all of my firewall software, and was beyond my pay-grade to repair myself. I contacted Dan over e-mail, he took the time to answer all of my silly questions. Dan graciously agreed to meet me outside of my office and pick up my offending PCU, and take it with him to repair it. Dan ended up calling me about two days before I expected him to call me with a fixed computer! He not only delivered it back to me, but came in a few bucks under his initial estimate too. Dan also had installed some maintenance software so that I could prevent the issue from occurring again, then suggested a few other options to manage my system. Above and beyond what I was expecting, and above and beyond the service I had in the past. Dan was easy to talk to and easy to understand (I'm technologically challenged!) and walked me through everything that might have been going wrong with my computer.
