On April 11th, Wylie, TX experienced a massive hail storm which destroyed hundreds of homes and vehicles. Ours was one of them and GEICO Insurance states that the vehicle added is not covered for this type of claim. What does it mean to "Add a vehicle to your insurance policy" ? Well, here's what it implies; I have an existing insurance policy with a certain level of coverage for my vehicles. Now, I'd like to add another vehicle to this policy. It seems safe to assume that by adding this vehicle to an existing policy, which will expire in August 2016, I will receive the same level of coverage for the new vehicle that is carried on the existing vehicles until August 2016. Well, unfortunately for GEICO customers. GEICO has internal processes that are not fully disclosed and they're perception of "adding a vehicle to your policy" is different. They will select the level of coverage for you. From what I'm told, if the added vehicle is of a certain type or age, neither of which are clearly defined, the coverage is automatically reduced and comprehensive coverage is not included for that vehicle. Now, I do not know GEICO's internal processes and procedures and that certain types of vehicles will "default" to certain types of coverage. But If GEICO is changing the level of coverage for a vehicle being added, why wouldn't I be offered the opportunity to select specific coverage, using a dropdown menu, etc. at the time the vehicle is being added to my policy on-line? I'm not sure what is going on with Geico but they are giving me a hard time right now. I called in a claim on August 2 regarding my truck being damaged in my gated seven-foot garage. I gave them all the required information including the leasing information as well as the police report number and police badge number. The gentleman Jim I spoke with on Friday August 2 told me to drop my truck off on Thursday August 8 to the collision shop and to get my rental, he included that my deductible would be $500. I know I have a $250 deductible but okay my truck is new so maybe it went up because it's a new truck. Not questioning the deductible, I said okay with the drop off date and we disconnected the call. On Thursday August 8, 2019 @ 8:15 am I leave my vehicle at the Collison shop and go about my day. I get a call Thursday from Josh the rep on behalf of Geico at the Collison shop and he tells me that my vehicle will be ready on Tuesday August 13th and that it is a $1000 deductible. He rushes me off the phone and tells me to call Geico regarding the deductible. I call Geico through the app and speak with Renee @ 2:54 pm who tells me that the claim is under investigation and that I need to return the rental back to the Collison shop or I will have to pay out of pocket for the rental as well as the $1000/Collison deductible. How is there a $1000 Collison deductible when it was a parked truck, parked in my designated parking spot that got side swiped by a tow truck in a 7-foot gated parking garage???? Where I live mind you!!! What makes Geico or any other insurance agency think that this is right or that any client can afford a $1000 deductible for a hit and run incident that happens all the time. This is insane the call is mysteriously disconnected when I go on the tell Renee that this is ridiculous and I want to speak with a supervisor. @4:49 while at the Collison shop, I speak with Amande who also states to return the rental and pick up my vehicle. I ask her to explain why Geico had me drop it off in the first place???? They made me wait a week to take it to the Collison shop then when I take it there no even 8 hours later your telling me to return it. At the Collision shop I speak with Novelle the mechanic who tells me my truck is in pieces and that I can't get it back without paying them over $400 to assemble my broke truck and give it back to me????? It gets better because Geico still expects me to pay the $1000/Collison deductible, plus the $30 a day for the rental and I'm not due to get my truck back till August 16, 2019. Does this make any sense to anyone???? I know it's not just me being a pain in the ass customer. HOW did the deductible jump to $1000 and why do I have to pay out of pocket for anything let alone a rental???? Isn't this what I pay insurance for??? Also, If the claim was under investigation and Geico don't pay till the investigation is over WHY have me drop my vehicle off to the Collison shop on 8/8/2019. I could have waited till the investigation was over then dropped my vehicle off!!!! WHY am I going thru this? Now I'm repeatedly getting emails to call in regarding my claim but if it was important wouldn't they call me?? I have yet for a staff member to call me in regards to my claim or the mess that occurred Thursday and Friday. I have only gotten a text from the Collison shop letting me know that my truck will be ready Friday August the 16th. This whole incident is truly a mess and it has stressed me out to know end. I am worried about when I finally get my truck back, I'll probably owe $3000... Geico the handling of this claim was the worst and I am being treated unfair. After 28 years of being a Geico customer, in a parking lot a guy decided to take advantage of me and told me that I scratched his car with my door, it was a small nudge on an extremely windy day. He had scratches all over his car. Geico did not stand by me and paid out $170 in fixing the scratch when no paint from my dark car was evident on his car. They faulted me and unethically reported it as an accident to the DMV. Unbelievable, that's what you get for being a safe reliable customer for years. They are also very expensive. They market as if they have cheapest rates, false advertising, go for Progressive or State Farm much cheaper. read more

GEICO auto, NY state - They are truly awesome if you dont need them. Been with them since I was 17, before all the stupid brit accent reptile and catchy anecdotal actor/singer commercials. Before the racing boat. (Directly or indirectly, we are paying for them, right?) And so I stayed, since they became like the family friend I needed to be a legal driver. They are not a friend. Behind the canned, scripted and plastic friendly, yet often clueless, voices on the phone, they are statistics and percentages business, kind of like a casino, and you are just collateral damage. Expendable dice. Just dont be late with your premium payment. And be sure to download that app! FFWD 30+ years to the true horror of actually needing to file a claim. The initial process was fine, canned statements and all, backups due to covid, blah, blah, blah. TG there was not another victim nor insurance company involved. Transfers to multiple departments that sympathize so deeply with your plight, but cant do anything because that is the next departments function, needing to incessantly call and call and call to explain the same issue over and over, reciting a ridiculously long digits claim number with multiple zeroes. They seem to want you, the client, to broker the communication between your repair shop and GEICO. And its all cloak and dagger, nobody has an email so that you can start a papertrail or scan stuff. (i found that it seems to be First name inital Last name@geico.com) just the bare minimum phone numbers, so if you get the voicemail to your POC, your done. They use FAX #s!! IDK about app claim filing, Im not downloading another app that tracks (spies) me. Sound aggravating enough? No, not done yet. Another great tip to keep your auto insurance low is to buy a SCOOTER or MOTORBIKE then switch your PRIMARY car or truck to SECONDARY vehicle as this will save you MONEY and you can save GAS also. I had 3 vehicles listed on my policy. My breakdown for the 3rd vehicle was 270.70. When I went to remove the vehicle they only removed 239.17 from my policy. When I asked why , they stated because I had lost my multi vehicle discount by 67.75. They also added 31.53 to the other vehicles on my policy. When I asked why, the representative stated " she could not see the breakdown". I asked for the declaration page along with the itemized breakdown and was told to hold. Geico is probably one of the cheapest insurance companies if you have no incidents, but you get what you pay for. Although I had no issues getting a hit-and-run claim taken care of (with a $500 deductible), it has been a Kafkaesque nightmare trying to get payment against the responsible party's (also insured with Geico) claim. Some jerk in a Hummer hit me and ran while I was driving, but I managed to get their license plate number. They turned out to also be insured with Geico, and of course denied liability - they committed a crime by running away, why wouldn't they would lie about it too? So their Geico claim reps checked their car for damage and denied my claim, telling me there was none. Not believing them, I asked for photos to prove it. They then said they would get back to me, and later informed me that, oh wait, there actually IS some "questionable" damage to the other vehicle. So I had to send measurements of the damage on my car, and they would see if it matched up. They reviewed my photos, told me the height of the damage "didn't match", and my claim was denied again. I got the other party's address through a state record search, and went to check out the Hummer myself. I found damage in exactly the area I said it would be based on the accident. I measured it, and sent photos of the measurements showing that the giant crack running all the way up and down their bumper began at the same height as the damage on my car. Their reps said they couldn't use my photos as proof since they couldn't see where I was measuring from in them, but that the damage was "questionable" and they would investigate further. They then ceased to contact me completely, only calling me back when I contacted them first and telling me that, months later, the inspector had never responded to their inquiries. What are the chances that I made up a license plate number, knew that the vehicle was a Hummer, and knew that there would be damage to the front passenger's side of the car from when they tried to merge into my car? According to Geico, it's all just a coincidence and the "questionable" damage was preexisting and "doesn't match". I pay Geico to fight on my behalf in cases like this, which is what they assured me they would do when I first called them to report the accident. However, even claims reps who are supposed to be on my side have been nothing but antagonistic toward me, and have never bothered to contact me unless I again contacted them first. Ultimately, they just accepted the other party's verdict that the damage "doesn't match", were unable to answer my questions on exactly why they think it doesn't match ("it just doesn't"), refused to investigate further, and refused arbitration. If the other party's rep said multiple times that the damage was "questionable", wouldn't someone "fighting for me" check it out themselves? I asked to speak with a supervisor and was assured one would get in contact with me, but none has. Geico is refusing to purse this issue further in arbitration because if I win, Geico loses money overall by having to pay out my deductible. There's clearly a conflict of interest. If the other person had been insured with another company, they definitely would have pursued the case further to get their money back. One of the (no-so-smart) reps supposedly "on my side" actually told me that, in so many words. As someone else said, "Geico's strategy is to delay, deny, obstruct, and frustrate in the hope that the insured simply gives up and drops the claim." That is absolutely true, as I have now given up. The deductible is not worth the aggravation and frustration I have gone through. You win, Geico. Keep your $500. But you won't be getting another dime on my premiums. read more

Absolutely do not go with Geico. I have been a Geico customer for nearly 15 years, since I started driving. In the last 6 months I have had my insurance bumped up by $80/month because I moved, I have had two break ins to my vehicle, and I just had it stolen and crashed last night. I have coverage to "protect me" from this sort of thing. Well it doesn't with Geico. To give some more information, here's how much out of pocket I have had to go because I chose to insure with Geico over the last 6 months alone: OVER $3,000 dollars!!!! Out of MY pocket because of events that were completely out of my control and I had no fault in. The first event occurred in August. Someone tried to steal my truck. They messed up the door, door handle, and locking mechanism, then destroyed my steering column and ignition trying to steal the vehicle. I had to pay $1,000 of my deductible (fine, I guess), then it was in the shop for four months getting fixed. They charged me my FULL insurance this entire time because the 'claim froze my insurance' and they were unable to lower it due to the claim being active. This means that I paid my already way overpriced insurance for 4.5 months without being able to drive my vehicle at all, which they were very aware of as it was in the shop and the claim was not finalized because we were waiting on a part to be located. I asked if they would lower insurance and they just said no. Thanks for that one, Geico. Also, Im a disabled veteran, a long-time customer, and have never filed claims with Geico. I learned my lesson there. Finally, I paid my deductible, got my car out in early December, and last night it was stolen and wrecked. I got the call from the police who found it today, filed a report, got interviewed about it, the whole 9-yards. Well, Geico said they will cover it but guess who has to pay the $1,000 deductible again... because it's a new claim. I get this, to a point, but the way that these events did not involve me and were less than one month apart deserves at least some kind of 'we're sorry this happened' or 'let's see what we can do to help you out, that really sucks.' Nothing.... Just got the flat you have to pay, sorry to be you response that I have learned to expect from this insurance company. Bear in mind, I paid my deductible of $1,000 in December for the event that happened in August, paid FULL INSURANCE the entire time, drove the vehicle for one month, had it stolen last night, and am already having to pay $1,000 more dollars to this corrupt and uncaring business really causes me to be upset. I have never felt less appreciated or supported by any company that I have been paying thousands, and thousands, of dollars to over nearly a decade and a half. Also, no accidents in the last 4 years or so, no other claims, nothing. I'm a good driver and don't even have any speeding tickets on my record so this isn't like I am milking them for all their worth. Overall, the first time I need my insurance to help me out, which is already overpriced and taking advantage of me in this way, they charge me $2,000 for two separate events that happened at no fault of mine and very close to each other. They wouldn't lower my insurance while the truck was in the shop, making me pay full insurance even though there was absolutely zero need to do so, and then charged me again for the same type of issue less than 30 days after I paid them way too much money. They would've found more understanding and sympathy from me if they acted, any of the times that we've spoken, like they wanted to help me out, but they didn't. Liars!!!! I cannot get the entire email showing text of email and the date in the screen for a screen shot but if you ask, I am happy to share it with you. For more than 10 years, without a single issue on my end, no claims, just their regular payment for services. I have had GEICO insurance policies for my many cars (until tonight I had 16 of my cars currently insured by GEICO all at the same time) California and Nevada policies) as well as My RV, 2 boats and 4 motorcycles. My Nevada policy was set to auto renew on auto pay on my credit card. A fact that I verified by phone in January when I moved a car from the CA policy to the NV policy when that car went to NV. The agent even read backthe last 4 digits of my credot card. A fact that I also verified again with the confirmation emails in my inbox tonight. I received a notice on my Geico app in Feb that the policy would automatically review. The policy was due in Feb. I found out from Nevada DMV in April that the policy had lapsed. I immediately called Geico and they assured me that they would take care of it. They even sent me an email and called me to let me know it had been taken care of. I got a notice from Nevada DMV today that the registration on at least one of my cars was being revoked because there was not continous coverage on the vehicle and I would have to pay fines of $250 to $750 plus penalties up to $1,000 to have the registration reinstated. I immediately called GEICO. I spoke with three different agents and their supervisor Anthony Cortez in San Diego. These liars told me that the policy was not set for auto pay and auto renewal since 2014. I forwarded the emails from GEICO confirming that the policy was going to be automatically renewed and the email showing that I cancelled one credit card on auto renewal to add another in March of this year. How would that even be possible if I wasnt set for auto pay? Still, they insisted that it was not set for auto pay. Even with verifiable proof. On top of that, the car that was switched in January, they moved back to a CA policy and sent out a notice on my GEICO app for just under $12.00 which was the amount the agent told me in January would be automatically added to my next bill. I immediately paid it. I didnt find out until April that they took this car out of the NV policy and put it into a CA policy. This screw up they did automatically but they could automatically take my paymemt or let me know if there was an issue.. A car they knew was registered and kept in NV. The absolute bold faced lies I heard these people tell me. Unbelievable fictions that flew in the face of actual, verifiable emails that I had and conversations I knew I had had in the past verifyng the auto pay and seeing the notices on my GEICO app. They even contradicted eachother and in some instances themselves. They stated that they would not take responsibility with the NV DMV. This means I have to either pay the fees or spend my time and money proving to the DMV that GEICO is a liar and or take legal action against them. I do have the emails after all. Then, just to solidify it all, try and screen shot that it had been set for autopay, eight away, I went to my GEICO app only to find it telling me I hadnt entered in any policies. I had, I used the app regularly. I tried to go to GEICO.com to get proof and my login and passwords were not accepted. It said I needed to enter in at least one policy which I did but it still didnt work. The liars were obviously trying to cover their tracks. I STILL HAVE THE EMAILS you liars!!!!!!! I am cancelling EVERY SINGLE GEICO policy I have and I will NEVER use GEICO again and I will make it a point to tell ANYONE that will listen all about the liars at GEICO and show them the emails proving that they are liars of they want to see them. Their mascot is a reptile.... It should be a slimy, lying snake. If anyone has had a similar issue and has proof to back it up like emails etc as I do, please let me know, there are probably others. I am happy to be a part of a class action suit against GEICO. Kind of a P.S. As I search reviews on these liars. This company has 100 reviews just for the corporate address and less than 1.5 stars. If you check all of the thousands of other reviews everywhere else, for GEICO, no better. Switched from Progressive to Geico to save 200$ for six months and this was a very bad decision on my end. This was my first accident at all which is a minor accident btw 3k-4k. They don't have an accident free like Progressive if you have a clean history. They said I had to purchase it while I was buying the policy in the first place after I had a minor accident due to bad weather conditions. Then right away, they increased the ongoing premium by $700 which was a direct red flight. This was an AWD vehicle and they had to change one tire due to damage but although you can not change one tire in an AWD vehicle which will drastically damage your vehicle, I told them I am okay to pay whatever percentage is used in other three but Geico shall cover the rest which is the best way and it doesn't put both sides benefiting from this accident. Or you can change one tire and tear it off to level it with others. I said it is up to Geico but these are the options we could go for. They rejected this by saying they only cover whatever is damaged only. They don't cover all mandatory accident-related damages. In this case, the normal insurance company would go with a percentage of what is used in other tires and replace them all and it would be shared btw me and the insurance provider. As obviously AWD vehicles are more expensive than their other drive models we are paying more premium than lower-cost models. After I gave them the options they rejected these options and also charged me another $25 dollar for one tire because it is a used tire and I have to pay for the used part percentage. This put them in betterment condition where they benefit from the accident because I now have to change all tires and whatever percentage is left from others have to go garbage. So at the end of the day, be aware of what policy you are buying here. Geico policy is a garbage policy. I believe it only makes sense for low-class vehicles. Any vehicle from mid and high-class, Geico policy will put you in a position you don't want to after the accident. I wouldn't recommend Geico to anyone where they are able to violet policy and you can't do anything about it. read more

I switched to Geico, to get a good driver discount with the DriveEasy app. Turns out the app is not compatible with Apple Car Play, but I had to do the legwork to find that out. Agents should know this, when talking to customers. I'm very disappointed with Geico for quoting insurance with a flawed system such as the DriveEasy. I spoke with Geico and they are well-aware that the technology with this app is flawed, but that doesn't stop them from offering it to potential customers. So if your not very savvy with technology, you could be getting a bad score for an ambiguous algorithm. I immediately cancelled the app, after only using a few days. Having the app tell me I was using my phone when I wasn't. I don't know how/where/when that incorrect information, about my driving, would be used against me. (like when I try to get new insurance?) So a driver in front of me moves completely into the center (left turn) lane and slows to a near stop. I continue on past him, as this happens all the time, and he decides to make a right instead, right into my driver-side doors. $7000 in repairs needed and Geico determine I was not at fault. They repaired but I had to pay a $750 deductible (they said I would get back from Progressive, the other driver's insurance co.). When I asked them to add the $1050 out of pocket to the rental car company they told me they "decided" they would not pursue reimbursement from Progressive. Basically, Progressive told them to "fuck-off" and they did. Geico told me if I wanted that money back to sue the other driver myself, since i was NOT at fault. Here are some things you should do to prepare for the roller coaster your life will soon become: 1. Cancel all your plans for at least the next few months. You may wish to quit your job or take a leave of absence as well. You're going to spend so much time on the phone leaving voicemails that you'll wish you had a personal assistant, and no one has time to hold down a job when you have a Geico claim to deal with. Don't worry, your adjuster will call you back, but it will just be to let you know that they'll finish your claim soon. Speaking of which... 2. Get used to the word "soon". You'll hear this word so much it'll make your head spin. If you think you know what this word means then think again. Your adjuster may give you a vague time frame for when your claim should be completed such as, "by the end of this week". Your adjuster is going to need so much proof that this accident happened, you may have to invent a time machine and have them witness the accident themselves. Get the contact information for all witnesses, the other driver, passengers, and even the police officer writing the report if you can. You may decide to send these people a friend request on social media as well, because you'll need all the support you can get. Every time you think that you've given the Geico adjuster the information they need, they'll come up with yet another useless fact for you to verify. Again, expect to spend most of your time on the phone for the next few months. Obviously I've exaggerated the level of difficulty in filing a claim through Geico. However, its unfortunately not very far off the mark. GEICO issued me a courtesy credit of 15% of my total premium due to Covid. When I decided not to renew my policy with their company, I was informed that the credit will be reversed and I will owe them 300.00+ dollars because I descided to cancel. The representative I spoke with said she completely understood why I was so upset but continued to demand money for a credit that I did not ask for , nor did I sign an agreement stating that I would renew my policy in lieu of the credit. The worst insurance company I have dealt with... A GEICO insured driver hit my brand new 2021 Honda Passport and, after almost 3 weeks, I am still getting the run around from GEICO to get my car repaired. They recognize the accident was 100% their fault and yet, the process is still stagnant. I called numerous times (always getting an automated service that took me nowhere) until I had select to "buy a new policy" to finally get a live person. I finally got a supervisor on the line who stated that if they cannot make contact with their insurer and that there is a possibility they may refuse coverage to fix my car. They also stated that it might take several weeks for this process. The supervisor suggested filing the claim with my insurance policy even though this was 100% the other driver's fault. I advised him that the door of my car does not close properly and when it rains, my brand new 2021 Honda gets wet inside, but why would he care? He suggested taking the car indoors so it does not get wet. Oh OK, I guess I have to file for a building permit to build a structure for my car or I can go the less expensive route and to find an umbrella big enough to cover my entire car. I'm about to file a lawsuit. 7 days since I opened a diminished value claim for my brand new 2017 car that was rear ended by one of their clients and not one returned call, email, nothing. I have called and left voicemails and nothing. They admitted fault and the total bill was over $7,800. I am extremely disappointed with the level of service. Not only am I filing suit for the full Diminished value claim of the car that was professionally reviewed, but now for loss of wages, cost of report, court costs, and inconvenience. Today was one of those days when you are speechless because how you are treated like SHIT by your car insurance. 830 AM. Two of my tires pop as I hit an object in the street. As a safety precaution park the vehicle at the GEICO headquarter parking lot in Chevy Chase . So I thought this is my lucky day I'm at geico already well . Call GEICO to report my claim and had to wait for a tow truck for 5 hours without food,water or bathroom to go until 130pm. Oh yes I lost. Whole work day which Im not getting reimburse for. After that, it just got worst ,when attempting to pick my rental vehicle. Enterprise did not had any vehicles for the price 30/per day up to $900. Call GEICO it was already close to 4pm !!!! Ask them to pay $9 dollars more per day until vehicles get repair as courtesy for the long hours of wait to get towed. As an update on Geico, I canceled my policy effective 11/30. Today is 11/19. They locked me out of the Geico app before I even finished confirming my cancelation of 11/30 with the Geico rep. That is incredible that they get away with this! I'm paid until the end of the month but can't use their app any longer. Note: if you are canceling your policy with Geico, take pictures/screens shots of everything in the app before you call to cancel your policy. She cut me off making a turn into a parking lot, causing us to collide (lightly, but enough for me to need a new front bumper) and the Geico claims rep said herself that their driver did that, yet they found me 30% at fault. Gone are the days of 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on Car insurance. Switched to Geico about a year ago whilst looking for auto insurance. Decided to give their jingle a chance with my home and auto policy. No accidents or claims ever in entire driving history and I just turned 50. So I am not a post pubescent 20 year old. I am aware of annual rate adjustments but their rates went up substantially at 6 months and then, prohibitively so at the year mark. Remember, no claims - ever - with any insurance company. Their MO - if my experience has taught me anything - is to get you hooked and then bilk you for all you got. So go with them if you must but do it with the understanding that you will have to look for insurance again in 6 months. Geico WILL raise your rates every opportunity they get. Caveat Emptor !
