She also explained all of the different desserts they have from crêpes to tiramisu and the different flavored gelato. They have a huge assortment of flavors for gelato. They have one full side that is all fruity flavors, and the other side, which has everything from chocolate orange to almond. I got the almond and the pistachio gelato. This is honestly the best gelato I've had outside of Italy. It was so creamy! After I ordered, I realized that they also have espresso here! (As the plaza has many businesses in there and you may compete with people for spots.) I bookmarked this place some time ago and I finally had the chance to stop in. It's very close to Chrisitini's and there is plenty of parking. The shop is small and there are maybe 2 tables inside, but there are 5 or 6 tables outdoors and in the shad to enjoy your gelato. Prices are a bit above average, but it's gelato not ice cream and it's in a high rent area. There were about 24 flavors available on the day that I was there. Many of them were traditional flavors like chocolate, hazelnut, and pistachio, but there were some more unique ones as well. I opted for the lavender cream which I thought was very good. The flavor was on point and the quality was top notch. They had 3 types of cones and 3 different size cups to choose from. I will definitely be back with my child who I expect will love it. The only thing that was off putting was a strong smell of cleaner/disinfectant. I'm not sure if it was inside or just outside the shop, but it was strong in both locations and once I walked to the furthest outdoor table I could not smell it anymore. read more

Sorbet is packed full of flavor. It is usually open till 11pm so it is perfect for an after dinner treat. There are a couple tables inside, most of the seating is on the patio. First let me say that the girls that are serving need more training in customer service. After one gal served her customer, she just walked away, just ignored me. She didn't help me even though the other gal was busy. Finally the busy gal helped me, but seemed flustered. Maybe that was just her personality, who knows. I was told by a local that's just how people in Florida are. Wow I thought Seattle was bad. Someone said it's because it's the south. I don't think so because in Texas, I had nothing but amazing customer service. Even more friendly people by the beaches of California. So to me....no excuse for not being at least friendly with a smile. That being said, all that wouldn't bother me if the gelato was to die for. Unfortunately it didn't hit the mark. I also picked up a few items from cooler. The macarons were sufficient, I've had better from Paris, Canada, and Seattle. But at least it helps the sweet tooth craving. On Saturday evening (9/23/23) at around 7pm I was excited to try the Italian Ice at this place as I've never had it before. Fist, I tried a tiny sample of the Raspberry Italian Ice. Then I asked for and paid for a large waffle cone of Raspberry Italian Ice. They gave me something different that was more tart, less creamy, and it apparently was the Raspberry Sorbet. I tried pointing it out to the two young ladies who were working there but they indicated it's what I asked for and ignored me to focus on new customers. It's not often that I find authentic gelato in the US. While I may not be a connoisseur, after visiting Florence and trying their gelato on a nearly daily basis, I feel like I at least have a better grasp on what gelato should taste like. It helps that La Carraia has one other location in Florence! The owner at La Carraia was so sweet and friendly! He explained his business and helped us pick flavors to try. My sister let him know that she had been to the location in Florence and it was actually her favorite gelato shop that she had tried while studying abroad for a semester. That definitely upped my expectations for this gelato - and I wasn't disappointed. I ended up ordering the coffee gelato without sampling, and to my surprise, it was the best choice. It felt like I was drinking a real coffee but in iced cream form. There were bits of coffee bean in it, too, which seemed to make it that much more authentic and fresh.
