Once again this review is about Teresa in their hearing aid center. This time, she did a complete update to my hearing aid that involved a few very sophisticated, technical tests to fine tune my hearing aids. She spent an entire hour, educating me and running those tests that, in the end, fine-tuned my aids to a level I hadn't thought possible. My issue had to do mostly with difficulty hearing conversation, especially in a restaurant environment. One of the tests involved a computerized process that programmed my aids to better hear within the ranges of sound loss specific to me. Teresa is a knowledgeable, charming audiologist that Costco is fortunate to have on staff.

Fortunately, another vehicle was pulling out and I found a nice spot with a bonus of a little bit of shade. Upon entering the office, which was modern and clean, I was immediately checked in by the front office receptionist. I was called in almost precisely at 11 am, my appointment time. Stormy took care of me. She was very nice, knowledgeable, and did a great job of explaining everything. My audiology exam was more thorough than I've ever had. Once the exam was over, Stormy began to talk to me about my options. My hearing loss, especially on the left, is profound, as she showed me on the exam results. She explained that I did have hearing aid insurance benefits, and said that they would be less expensive, but in her opinion, I needed a custom hearing aid to maximize my ability to follow conversations, especially in public , like restaurants, where the noise level is significant. She then explained that, if I wanted to go private and deal with their office, they had three levels of hearing aids. I did not feel pressured at all, but I felt that I needed the best hearing aid to improve my quality of life. I did not want to try and save money and compromise my ability to understand others' communication, and participate in conversations out in public. Even watching TV requires closed captioning, which my wife does not necessarily appreciate. Stormy took molds of my ears, and I am to return in two weeks to be fitted with my hearing aids. I will have one week to decide if they are worth it before committing to purchase. I am looking forward to receiving my new hearing aids, and will be updating this review once I try them out and see how much I benefit from them.

After the hearing test, we needed to sit and talk with the sales guy about hearing aids. He is a traveling sales person, and today, he so happened to be in Boise. After his pitch was done. My mom nicely declined and said she has other things health wise that took priority over hearing aids. He then got super serious and proceeded to tell her that her brain was shrinking because of her hearing loss. Talk about scare tactics! I stopped him in his tracks and reminded him that she had just spoken with the hearing Doc and that he doesn't need to say that to her just to get her to buy a hearing aids!!! (HE WAS NOT A DOCTOR, SO HE SOULDN'T BE TRYING TO ACT LIKE ONE JUST TO MAKE A SALE) He then immediately picked up his pen and crossed out the $7,000 price, and told us to get out. SHOCKED!! Elise was assigned to my wife and she was exceptional. Very professional, caring, thorough, and empathetic. She listened to my wife's issues and needs and immediately begun some exercises to help. What we really like is that explained everything. Why was my wife feeling the way she did, and what these exercises were going to do to help. The exercises were great and helped my wife from the beginning and we only needed one more session with Elise. The following week, Elise, called my wife to check on her to see how she was doing.
