Viking Veterinary Hospital - Visiting Frankie in her vet crate as she waits for surgery.

    Viking Veterinary Hospital

We had a very disappointing experience with Viking Veterinary Hospital in Nampa. While we initially…read moretrusted the care provided for our dog, Ozzy, the billing and communication process was extremely concerning. We were given estimates at the time of service and made decisions based on those numbers. However, additional charges were later presented that were not clearly communicated or aligned with what we understood and agreed to. We paid the high end of the surgical estimate, yet are now being pursued for more without clear justification. Beyond the financial concerns, the way this situation has been handled has felt unprofessional and unnecessarily aggressive, including threats of collections before a clear resolution process. We are currently working to resolve the balance, but we will also be filing a complaint with the Idaho State Board of Veterinary Medicine due to concerns about transparency and communication. We strongly encourage others to ask very detailed questions and get everything clearly documented before proceeding with care here.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience here. I brought my cat in for serious issues, and…read moreafter the visit, his condition worsened. When he began vomiting repeatedly (7+ times in 24 hours), I called multiple times and was told I'd receive follow-up communication that never happened. Over several days, my calls weren't properly documented or passed along, and I couldn't get clear answers about his treatment or prescriptions. I was given incomplete instructions and left without guidance while his condition continued to decline. I ended up having to take him to another vet, redo all testing, and pay additional costs just to get him proper care. To make matters worse, their records were inaccurate -- stating medication was given in-office when I actually administered it at home. What's most frustrating is that after all of this, there was no accountability and no effort made to rectify the situation -- no solutions, no compensation, nothing. The biggest issue here isn't just the cost, it's the lack of communication, urgency, and basic care when my pet's health was at risk. I trusted them based on a prior good experience, but this time was completely different. I wouldn't trust them with a pet ever again.

Although we missed out on the dog we wanted to adopt originally, by a mere 10 minutes, we found another dog, Miss Bean who was 14 years old and in pretty bad condition. We knew that we just had to have her and at first we had some poor and miscommunications with the staff; however, Emily stepped in and helped us with getting Miiss Bean (now known as Angel) to us. She was on medical hold for a few weeks but Dr. Sauer poored a lot of compassion and care in conducting 2 major surgeries on her. Overall, we are very happy with how everything turned out and are grateful to the staff and the volunteers who work there, as it can't be easy watching the mass numbers of animals that are turned in or brought in to them on a daily basis. God bless West Valley Humane Society. BTW, Angel has a long road ahead as we just found out she has an enlarged heart, fluid around her heart and lungs and a collapsing trachea, but her vet is confident that with proper treatments and care, she will do fine. She is an absolute joy and is doing very well and is vey energetic, for a 14 yo who just went through all that she has gone through. We will love and care for this little one and give her the comfort and peace she deserves.
