I had a 16 year old small dog, who was a patient of Snake River Vet, on a Monday night she started breathing with difficulty, On Tuesday I called her vet, Snake River, and was told they had no time for her to try another vet. No one else could get her in, so all day Tuesday with her breathing difficulties, and Tuesday night Wednesday morning I was up with her horrible breathing, Snake River Vet finally got me a early afternoon appointment, on Wednesday. My dog had to have surgery for an abscess while I was visiting from Northern California. Everyone at Snake River Veterinary was great! The technician welcomed Arlo - who can be a busy boy - and she calmed him down quite easily. Dr Matsuura came in, diagnosed Arlo, and performed the procedure that day. I settled on Snake River Vet several years ago. They completely rebuilt their facility and it is nice. Unfortunately i cannot give them more stars because they no longer accept CareCredit. It appears they have made some exclusive deal with another company. Totally NOT okay with me. if you're going to be picky about payment and your the most expensive vet in the area, you lose my business. I'm not just an occasional customer either. Called the office to see if a vet could make a farm call for a sick cow. They told me they didn't make farm calls unless my operation consisted of 50 head of cattle or more. That doesn't even make any sense because if I had 50 head of cattle sick, it would be over whelming for one vet to care for. If I had a sick horse, would it have to be a million dollar horse in order to get them out to the farm. I will never use them for any animal. read more

We visited Snake River Veterinary Clinic in a Saturday morning. 0ur 17 year old dog had apparently suffered a stroke during the night, was incontinent of bowel and bladder, and was clearly suffering. We decided to do the compassionate thing for our beloved boy and Snake River agreed to see us. My husband explained the situation on the phone. When we arrived, I stayed in the car, and he, again, explained the situation - and why we were there - to the receptionist. He returned to the car to wait with me until we could go inside. A few minutes later, a bubbly young worker arrived to ask 'what was going on'. So, we had to explain for a 3rd time why we were there. Once inside, the bubbly girl insisted on taking a temp, doing some sort of 'exam', and probing around; clearly causing the dog distress. The vet on duty arrived (not the owner, Alicia Ewing) and did her part. Once my dog had died, I went to leave the building, leaving my husband to pay the bill. The bubbly girl had now been joined by another girl, and they were giggling and seemed to be having the time of their lives as I tried to pass through the front door. Neither acknowledged me, nor stopped carrying on. I realize that this is just a day in their work lives, but it was one of the worst days of mine. A little respect, compassion, and professionalism would have gone a long way. Once home, I realized we were charged an 'exam fee' (along with the euthanasia and disposal costs). On Tuesday, my husband called to speak to Dr. Ewing. We disputed the exam fee and complained about the 'giggly girls'. She said she would check things out and call up the next day. Well, 3 days later, we called back. We spoke to Dr. Ewing who told us that she had 'completed her investigation' lol. She said that she would split the exam fee with us, as she believed the fee was warranted. (We never did receive any type of refund.) She also advised that the situation with staff was a miscommunication and misunderstanding on our part. She further stated that she had to 'have the backs of her staff'. This clinic has been under new ownership multiple times over the past several years. It will remain to be seen how successful this business will be under this young owner's leadership. When this occurred, I sent Dr. Ewing a private Facebook message (visible only to her). She never responded. I wanted to share with her how upset I was over the entire incident. That was a few months ago. I had written this review at that time, but decided to let bygones be bygones and not post it. Today, we received a package with our pets' records indicating we were not welcome back at that clinic. Dr. Ewing felt that my message to her was somehow 'inappropriate'. In it, I mentioned she needed to be in control of her staff, not let them be in control of her. Anyway, we've been fired now, so I decided to post this. Everyone's experience is different, I'm sure. I really like the people here, so kind and empathetic. These people are animal lovers and you can really tell. I know the majority of them do the job because of their love of animals, not for the money. Vets and Vet Techs have a very high risk of depression and suicide. One of my friends is a vet tech for a major animal hospital in California, she sends me many articles on the subject. It's sad. And Vet's often get a bad rap due to their rising costs, they need to offset the cost of insurance much of it due to protect themselves from being sued. With that being said they got four of the five stars because the majority of their products are marked up so high I can get them online for a lot cheaper (example a 3in1 flea tick for $30 vs $20). If they brought the in-house prices down to be more comparable I would certainly buy from them first. read more

I have used this vet twice and to say the least I am very disappointed with their service and communication. The first time I used this vet I had a puppy who they diagnosed with parvo and they told me he was going to die and did not do anything for him so I took him to a different vet they gave me meds and he made a full recovery Second time I used them I had a horse castrated and I called and asked for a quote and they had told me it would be around 225$ we dropped him off in the morning they called me around 3 and to tell me he was up and there was extra bleeding so they wanted to keep him for a bit to observe him we went to pick him up and the total came out to a little over 600! I told them about the quote and they told me to just pay the 225$ and they would take a few things off and call me the next day with the remainder of the bill so we go around and pick up my horse and no one came back to talk to us like they said they would so we loaded him i went back to the office and asked them about the meds i need to take home for him and they told me they would not send me home with the medication since i did not pay the whole bill so i hade to pay another 50$ for his pain killers they called us the next day and added another 170$ to the bills and we ended up paying almost 800$ for something i got quoted 225$ for Both times we used Annie Roach as the vet read more

I absolutly DO NOT recommend this place! In fact, I'll be leaving this review in multiple places in hopes that it will save someone else from what we've dealt with at this establishment and being "raked over the coals" multiple times. We had been customers at this veterinary office for YEARS up until recently. There have been and still great people that work there and we know other people who are still customers there and probably always will be. But, we've decided to take our business elsewhere due to the HIGHLY unprofessional and rude behavior that the staff has started exhibiting on a regular basis. We've spent thousands of dollars here and hundreds of it was unnecessary. We've caught the owner himself running unneeded tests and blood work so he could slap us with a bill reaching almost $500 dollars after not even being in the office for two hours. We also used to spend hundrends of dollars on prescriptions here each month until we caught a clue and started getting them from a ACUTAL Pharmacy which cut our prescription bill in half and then some. I've also had a few instances now that I can't even receive a return call from the Office Manager. Also, they've went through several receptionists that don't have great customer service skills or are just rude in general and prefer to talk over you rather then listen to what you have to say. It seems like their only polite when they can get your money. We use to buy everything here, including $100 forty pound bag of dog food every couple months among other things. But, that doesn't mean anything to them... customers are what make a business and that relationship with some of their customers isn't important to this business at all. There have been changes in management over the last couple years. They seemed to never listen to our past expierences with our animals (had to follow our dog around with a ladle to try and collect pee after we told them she would never let us do this (oh BTW she didn't and had to have a catheter just like we knew)). Then when we took our cat there for a urinary blockage they watched him not move (and laughed about it over the phone (home being a "loaf")) never occurred to them to prescribe a blood thinner for clots and he died in front of my two young kids and I on the kitchen floor within 24 hours of sending him home. Still paying on that vet bill, 6 months later, as they didn't see anything wrong with it. They claim to be animal friendly and act more animal careless. Not going back. read more

This is a continuation from the review. I want everyone to know the full story. I had decided to get Baileys tags back to keep on my key chain so sent a text asking if it was too late to get them. They got them for me so I have them. I was also told Bailey wouldn't be picked up until Thursday due to the holiday. I waited until July 20th and finally called vets office to aske how much longer before we would have her home. The gal that answered said Bailey was there. I asked when she had come in and don't they usually call? The gal said she was new, only been there for 6 days so wasn't sure. I told her I'd be right down to get Bailey and I would have some questions. I wasn't happy. Arrived there and there was another gal at desk told her I was there to pick up Bailey and wanted to know when she was brought in. She didn't know how to look that up. another young gal went to a closet to the side of the desk and brought Bailey out. I told them I wanted a manager to call me. I came home and called the people that cremated Bailey and asked when they had delivered her and they said She was cremated july 9th and delivered on july 11th at 12:33. I was devasted thinking she had sat in that little closet for 9 days on a shelf like an old book. They knew how hard this was on us. The manager FINALLY called and I asked her if she knew when Bailey was brought in and she said oh she thought on Thursday. I told her no, that I had called the cremation place and got the exact date and time. All she could do was apologize. I told her I felt like they didn't give a shit about my dog and told her this just added more grief knowing she was there alone instead of being home . She was going to have a meeting with everyone on this and continued to apologize. Sorry I'm not feeling any better. Looking back the vet maybe should of said let's run some more blood work before making a decision to send her to heaven as she was alert, just couldn't walk. I feel like I let my Baileygirl down in a big way and my heart still hurts terribly. I think the people that make this shot are guilty also and just want this over with as they sent another check for cost of cremation. but it also states once check endorsed case closed. To whom it may concern, My Cat Sammy Joe was taken in to your facility on 7-8-2022. He had lost weight and was only able to lick the gravy off of his food. We thought it might be something in his throat. My husband felt his teeth and we figured it was not his teeth. We brought him in for a checkup. The Vet did nothing but look at his teeth and tell us that he had a lot of plaque. I didn't trust this diagnosis. I questioned her. She insisted it was teeth. Nothing else was done not even feeling his stomach I felt that a little more testing needed to be done, but she was the expert. We brought him back to the vet on 7-22-2022 because he still had the same problem not being able to eat and this is when they performed an ultrasound and found a large mass on his liver and a mass on his spleen. If this procedure would have taken place on his first visit we would have never gone forward with the removal of his teeth. Now my Cat has passed. We ended up putting him through HELL the last few weeks of his life because a DR could not do a thorough exam during the first visit. It was such a sad thing for my cat and us to go through Had she done a thorough diagnosis on 7-8-2022 she would have found the large mass on his liver, and we would have let him go then. But instead, she removed teeth and put and older cat under anesthesia, when she knew he had problems with this. Brought my poor kitty home and had to watch him suffer through what her diagnosis was. That was horrible!! Not only did she make my cat suffer more than needed, she cost us a lot of money. When I talked on the phone to her , she said I should have asked for x-rays "she doesnt like to push things on people" I can't bring my wonderful cat back to life, but I believe we are owed some money back for the cost of the surgery to remove his teeth. This Vet caused us and my kitty so much pain. I'm not a DR., but I knew it was not his teeth. This is the letter I gave to the owner . She really didnt care . I'm from out of town and was visiting family when my little wing man Buddy the adventure mutt, a 16 lb poodle mix had an issue that was concerning to me. I was elated that we able to get a same day appointment. The entire staff was friendly and made Buddy and I feel right at home. Our veterinarian was Dr Alicia Ewing. Dr Ewing was very knowledgeable taking the time to explaining Buddy's condition and what the corrective action would be. Within a few days Buddy was back to normal, fully healed and off looking for his next adventure. :-) Many thanks to Dr Ewing and the rest of the staff. Highly recommended. read more

With in the last 6 months I had called twice and was told the DR. was busy with another client and would call me back. Never heard back, just ignored my call. Decided I would use another Vet. I should of quit a number of years ago when I dropped a horse off that had got his hoof stuck in a panel. They said they would check it out and give me a call. I was in an appointment when they called. They left a voice message that they put my horse down. That was without my approval. read more

I made an appt in person for my cat and dog for wellness exams for the following week. I had to pre-pay a deposit of $60 each! Ridiculous! Unheard of! Why!?! I then had to call a couple days later for an earlier urgent care appt for my 15 year old cat when her health deteriorated. Upon checking in and doing the paperwork, a vet tech (I assume--no one introduces themselves there) asks me about her symptoms and jots down notes in the margin of the form (!) And then asks me if I would want her euthanized while she's in the back with her. I immediately told her "No!" I was not allowed to be with her for their initial intake exam. Very discompassionate! I was told I would be called by the vet after an hour or more, as this is how they process their urgent care "drop off" animals! I had already waited 24 hrs to get that opening as they couldn't see her the day I called. (If they had been able to see her right after I'd called, it would've been another $95 emergency fee)! As it turned out, I was recommended to have her euthanized again after returning a couple hours later. And finally meeting the vet, a very impersonal, unfriendly and non-empathetic young female, after blood work and exam, euthanasia was again subtly pushed. Still no diagnosis. Just best guesses. I eventually left my precious kitty with them again for a few more diagnostic tests and returned at the end of the day, my 3rd visit, to learn in person the results and to see my kitty cat. Still no diagnosis or prognosis or recommended care protocol was given. I left her there overnight to get hydrated, to be given antibiotic (and an anti-nausea med even though there wasn't any vomiting but she'd stopped eating). After the phone call the next morning, 24 hrs later(!) there was still no diagnosis, no prognosis. Just repeated nuances that they didn't know what was wrong with her, other than old age and they could do more tests or supportive care but their best approach would again be putting her down. I removed her from that place and brought her home. I will NEVER take another animal there for any reason! The entire staff that was encountered there, except for Jenna, were discompassionate and certainly money-driven! I had to prepay her 2 day hospital stay and then ask for a refund when I took her out of the place after 1 night. What a wretched experience. They need to shut down their money machine and find more suitable work for themselves. Like washing dishes or cleaning houses... Awful place! read more

Staff was cold, uncaring and unhelpful to my wife who was trying to handle two of our sick dogs. If I was able to do a review without a star I would. I dont recommend these guys with my pets anymore talk to edwing about my experience with my puppies visit she sided with the vet Dehaan. I felt they didnt care about my puppy life Dehaan only asked to do a xray and nothing more she stated to me she was giving my puppy a nausea meds. Looked at my bill not what she gave her. My puppy died later that evening. I asked for my notes a week later they finally gave it to me and when I read their notes about my visit I was so disgusted how they characterized me as a owner who had no concerned about the puppy and my main concern was the cost. So they basically lied about that visit I had lost all my trust when u think u got there with full trust and then to see that they cover their asses by making the owner look like the bad person who declined service yet less then 5 days my older dog has a emergency surgery that coat me $1300 but this vet claims I was concerned about the cost not right ask for ur notes the same day as ur visit and see how they lie about the visit read more

Not only do I trust and respect the doctors' and staff's opinions and "skills", I also feel that they go above and beyond when it comes to being emotionally sensitive and supportive when your furry family member may be sick or hurt. I've been there on a couple of occasions to make hard decisions and the vets and staff are so understanding and supportive. I don't know if this sheds the best light on me as a pet owner, but my dogs become silly happy the moment they realize they're going to the clinic. And we've been using their boarding and veterinary services for eight years with no complaints. Very capable and friendly, they make you and your pets feel at home. I know of some of their long-term customers who even after having moved an hour or more drive away, still make the trip to this clinic for their pet's care because of the exceptional service.
