I have been going to Hendricks for 15 years. I have always been happy with them until recently. Their prices have skyrocketed. They gave me a bid to clean my dog's teeth for $2000-$3000! I have this done every year but the price now was outrageous. I found another vet who has been in business for 30 years and was quoted $500. Maybe more if extractions were needed! Also the vet I had been going to Dr. Squires is leaving. They should be ashamed for charging such prices. I will not be back!! read more

Abby our newly rescue had a sore eye that we were provided pink eye treatment from another place with no improvement, so called Hendricks Vet hospital and was able to come in same day. The eye was found to be something else and quickly the medication was provided, extra kind treatment to this shy, afraid and sweet dog. When we made the difficult but necessary decision to let our girl rest, the staff at Hendricks took the time to ask questions and to get to know us as well as our Luci and what our family needed as a whole. Dr Tad Squires has seen two of my pets and he is an incredible vet. The office staff is inefficient and incompetent. My son took his pet in and signed up for a monthly program they offered. Unfortunately his pet died a few weeks later and the office required payment on full when though his pet passed. They wanted payment up front for the year agreement and while I offered to make payments they refused. They listed the debt under my name even though my adult son is the one who took his pet in. When I called to straighten this issue out I was told to bad that they had listed it under my name because I have the account with them from prior visits. I never signed a monthly agreement with them. The vets are awesome however the front desk and billing staff seem to be completely incompetent. Enter at your own risk. . read more

Dr. Abbey Burgess is our vet for our new puppy, and she is fantastic! She and both of the vet techs that we often chat with, Matt and Will, are all so patient with us being first time puppy owners. They answer all our questions and don't make us feel rushed. They took amazing care of our girl when she was spayed and talked us through what was to be expected when they determined a couple of our pup's teeth needed to be pulled. Hendricks also really cares about your pet. They called the day after the procedure just to check up on Rose and see how she was doing. They also called to check on Rose after we had to take her to an urgent care and they received the records. we made an appointment for our dog at 4:30 and we got there about 4:15 and then they moved us to room 3. We sat in the room waiting for the vet and they just never came. We were there for over thirty minutes with no one checking on us in the room or anything, so we just walked out and still not a single person said anything. Very unprofessional and I would highly recommend going elsewhere. Clearly only their time is important cause they also will charge you a fee if you are late or don't show. read more

I scheduled and had my husband take our dog daughter in for just an exam and Bordetella vaccination and ended up getting a surprise charge for a Leptospira vaccination that wasn't even discussed nor even witnessed being given by the nurse/doctor for my dog. Whether my dog needed it or not should always be my final decision based on information of the benefits AND risks. Not just a spur of the moment thing, that is if she even received it. Unless you don't want to know what and if the vet is giving your dog or enjoy being charged for something that may not have even been administered, I wouldn't come to Hendricks Veterinary. Very unprofessional and I will be finding another more trustworthy Veterinary practice where I know what I will be charged for and what will be given to my dog at all times... read more

I am not sure what changes have been made here but the front office staff (with the exception of Miss Harley) have no idea what they are doing. Sadly, they are the first and last impression of the clinic. I had a great experience with my new puppy and a new vet (new to us), I would give the vet 5 starts. I just wish that I could say the same for the front office staff. To make matters worse,I didn't receive a return call from the office manager so I called and made a second attempt. Fortunately she answered the phone, but was not helpful in the least. She seriously didn't make an effort to try and resolve my concerns. A strong staff starts with a strong leader. We have two dachshunds, one very old and one very young, and my son's family has had dogs treated by them as well. Our experiences with the doctors, techs and staff have all been very positive, and compassionate. They listen. They respond. And they follow through. Our old doggie is crippled, and they are doing their best to ensure his quality of life for however much time he has left. Even in years where the only saw our pups for an annual checkup and nothing else, the staff remembers us and the pups. That's dedicated service. read more

In February, I adopted an Irish Setter puppy and so was in need of a veterinarian and was hoping I could find an office relatively close to my home. Enter Hendrick's Veterinary Hospital. The entire experience from making the appointment to finally wandering in (with one very curious and excited little puppy in tow) was excellent. The lobby area is large and impeccably clean. The size of the lobby is particularly nice when you're bringing in your healthy dog/puppy/pet, you needn't sit too close to potentially ill animals (and obviously, the reverse as well--as I wouldn't want my sick pup exposing healthy doggies). Dr. Davis was thorough, kind, and patient with my many questions. Because, here's the thing--I'm a bit of a researcher. I adopt a puppy and books are borrowed from the library, research is done online, and friends who have dogs are faced with a litany of questions (How long did house training take for your dog? How did you balance the need to socialize your puppy with the need to keep them safe and healthy prior to their full range of immunizations?). And, if you're also a bit of a researcher, you know--you are incessantly faced with conflicting data (never get upset with a puppy when they mess in the house, just patiently bring them outside--or--If you catch them *in* the act, definitely firmly say no--or--??? So much information!). So, in short? I need a veterinarian who is going to cut straight through my new-puppy-mom-crazy. Dr. Davis absolutely did this, calmly and without judgement, which I very much appreciated. Since then, I've had occasion to bring her back (she had a UTI). They were able to get us in quickly, diagnose her, and we left with medication in hand (the entire process took less than a half hour--and that's with a urinalysis). Wonderful! Get to it! read more

While the vets are awesome, I think they have lost their vision. We called regarding an established very sick dog on Wednesday to see if we can get her in on Friday and no call back. We were told they are booked out three weeks and no one returned the call to see if she can get in on Friday. Was told there is only one vet on Friday and closed Saturday and Sunday. How can you run a vet practice and not 1) return the call and 2)offer alternate care. We were told lack of employees were the cause but an answering service would have helped. Sorry to see this happen to a great veterinary practice. Yet they advertise for more patients. read more

I'm not from around here, but my dog needed a follow-up visit. Hendricks Veterinary Hospital scheduled an appointment in a timely manner. Everybody was extremely friendly. My dog is a little timid at all veterinary hospitals, but my dog warmed up quickly to the people working here. My overall time there was quick and efficient. The vet gave me an all clear. When we moved to another part of town a year ago, I considered changing my pup's vet to one closer to our house. The more I thought about it however, the more I realized I was happy to drive the extra distance to have the kind, loving treatment my dog has received over the years. Just this past week we were out of the country with spotty cell service and my pup was at the kennel when she began having very concerning gastrointestinal symptoms. Hendricks worked closely with my kennel to insure my girl had everything she needed until I could get back to her. It's above and beyond wonderful and I am so glad to have them as our vet. We took our pup to Hendricks because we were told that one of the vets - Dr Patterson - specializes in derm issues in dogs, and our pup was having some skin issues. They were so attentive and caring, and we didn't have to wait long in the waiting room or in the exam room before being helped. The Dr came up with a plan and communicated the expectations and plan clearly, and filled our dogs prescriptions promptly. I highly recommend Hendricks if you are looking for a new vet. read more

I discovered Hendrick's Vet Hosp. when I was able to be on a local radio show that was granting wishes. My pups needed attention and my husband and I had not been able to afford the vet care they needed. Though the guy running the radio show was a jerk to me, Drs. Hendricks and Davis didn't pay him any mind and agreed to see my girls and help them. A year later I would not take my pets anywhere else. The folks at Hendrick's aren't the most high tech, the offices aren't new, but their love and compassion for animals (and their owners) is top notch. After surgery and other interventions, we had to put our beagle down, and Dr. Davis was a kind as he could be about it- he helped to make her passing a smidge more bearable. They also offer kenneling if you are going out of town. read more

Great staff. Friendly, helpful. Dr. Pesnell did a great job taking cheatgrass out of my dogs paws and explaining what is is and after care. We are from NJ, so have never heard of cheatgrass. He was gentle and considerate of how much discomfort our dog could take. Also updated both dogs rabies vaccines. Only down side is I wish they gave a bigger break on 2 dogs at one visit. A visit cost $49.50, 2nd dog was $41.00. I think they could have reduced to $25./$30. for 2nd dog during same visit. But, I think they had a slow day and we spent 1.5 hours between time with the vet tech. and the vet. So can I really complain? No. read more

We chose Hendricks, first and foremost, based on location. We live fairly close and that provides peace of mind. When we first arrived to set up our appointment, the receptionist was very kind and helpful. Our appointment was set for Monday, but on the Thursday prior, our little guy vomited and my husband saw a worm. He called and got our appointment switched to the next day. We were so grateful. I am traveling with my dog, who has started limping. I called this business to see if they would take a look at my dog's foot. We will be moving here in September, and need to become affiliated with a good vet. The receptionist said I could drop my beloved pet off and leave him there. I explained that my dog gets very nervous at the vet and I always stay with him to be his best advocate. The receptionist promptly hung up on me without a courtesy good-bye. She simply said, that's what you will have to do, and then hung up. If that's representative of how they care for your pet, I most certainly won't be using these guys. Very unprofessional front desk. Update: I just had a call from Mary (Senior Hospital Manager), and she couldn't have been nicer. She'd been on vacation and apologized both for my experiences and for not learning about the situation sooner. We were able to come to a resolution with billing, and she also said she'd be following up with staff regarding the issues I'd seen. I really appreciated our conversation - thank you, Mary. Started bringing my puppy here in Feb & have spent just over $4,600 since then(not a small sum for me). Came to Hendricks to establish care with Dr. Burgess & signed up for their Paw Plan.At the time, no one mentioned she'd be on maternity leave several months this year.Found out later when I scheduled my dog's neuter/gastropexy & was told I'd have to use another provider in the office.Not sure if others are ok with seeing any available vet for surgery, but if I'd known our primary vet would be out, I'd have declined the plan in the 1st place. I've also experienced several instances of poor care.At 1 drop off visit, I brought in a mushroom for Dr. Davis to look at, because I was worried my dog had mushroom poisoning.Picking him up at the end of the day, I learned they'd left the potentially toxic mushroom in his kennel with him. At the next visit, I followed up about mushroom poisoning.Dr. D_ sounded like he was just remembering I'd even asked about it.He asked if they still had the sample I'd brought, because he "meant to look at it that day but got busy and forgot." The mushroom was gone, so I asked Dr. D_ to forward pics to a mushroom expert for me.He called several days later with lab results & asked if I'd "ever answered the expert's follow-up questions." Apparently I should've had a call from a tech with these questions but never did.He then asked me the questions himself and said he'd get back to me.6 weeks later, I've heard nothing. Same call, he said he'd refill 2 prescriptions, 1 in-house, the other at another pharmacy.Despite his knowing we'd used up all of the 2nd Rx, it took nearly a week for Hendricks to even submit that request. Picking up the in-house Rx, they tried to give me twice as much as I'd been told to use.The receptionist & office manager had to work through doctor's notes to figure out the discrepancy.They apologized for their error, saying I'd already been charged and paid twice as much as I should've.Because the illness we were treating resulted in $2,300 of vet bills over just a few weeks, I assumed the charge had been on my latest bill & I hadn't noticed.They then issued a refund for the extra meds-more on that in a moment. At this point, I moved my dog's care to another facility, sent Hendricks an email outlining my experiences & concerns, gave notice I'd like to turn off auto renew for my Paw Plan, & requested the final 4 months owed on my Plan (totaling $243) be cancelled out to make up for poor care(& the fact that I paid in full for visits not covered by the plan where issues that were supposed to be investigated/followed up on weren't). In response, I received no apology or concern-just an email from the office manager saying my email was forwarded to Dr. D_ for review & that since I used all services included in the Paw Plan, I must pay the remaining balance. I clarified that my request was not for a refund for unused services, but a credit for poor experience/incomplete care.Her response to this said simply that: 1) I used all services of the plan and must pay the balance, 2) They won't turn off auto renew until I pay that balance, & 3) She's realized she & the receptionist made a mistake refunding me for the extra meds.In fact, I hadn't paid for either box, so I also owe them $200 to correct their mistake. I'm at a loss for words.Rereading the document, refusing to cancel auto renew seems to violate the terms of the Paw Plan.As far as the medication goes, I've no issues paying for what we used; however, I'm irritated at having to jump through hoops when both the office manager and receptionist reviewed the account prior to issuing that refund (& apparently couldn't make sense of their own billing). Also, 2 weeks later I've heard nothing from Dr. D_ regarding my concerns about the care we received. At this point, I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & won't be back.As nice as everyone seemed, & with so many positive Google reviews, I'm disappointed to have had this 1-star experience read more

Great experience. I took my precious dog Jack for an annual exam and needed vaccines. I had previously used another vet in town (for several years) but was not at all happy so this was our first visit to Hendricks Vet Hospital. I had researched reviews and spoke to many people to decide what vet hospital to go to. I read all of the vet profiles. Based on positive findings and personal recommendations we chose Hendricks and I am so happy that we did. They truly showed care and tenderness to my dog. They gently treated him and gave him personal attention and love. They did not push any additional and unneeded vaccines or other services. Jack is a pug so he gets very excited and cannot breathe in anxious situations. They all worked hard to keep him calm and comfortable. This is our new forever vet hospital. read more

It takes a lot for me to post a negative review, but I just have to in this case. My lab was experiencing urination issue and was wetting in her crate. Took her in and they did the cursory 5 minute exam and then tried to get some urine thru ultrasound. She didn't have any so they sent me home with a collection kit. Brought in sample the next day (saturday). They said it would take a day or two. Wednesday I called and the young lady said the doctor was busy and she'd leave a message. Thursday, I called again and same thing. Friday, finally the young lady states that they can't find the sample and they'd keep looking and the doctor will call me. Saturday, they call and miraculously they find the sample and they'll send it off to the lab. An hour later I get a call that they decided to do an in-house test and she has a UTI. Prescribed 8 days of antibiotics. My little girl was improving thru the 8 days but after pills were got same symptoms and behavior returns and now her fur is falling out in large clumps. Took her to another vet today who did blood and urine testing and an ultrasound. Ultrasound didn't look right so they did an ex ray; she has kidney stones in 3/4's of her kidney! I can't say for sure, but I have a feeling Hendricks "diagnosis" of UTI wasn't based on actual results, but rather their assumption based on the symptoms. I have lost faith in Hendricks Veterinary Hospital and my little lady now has a new doctor who takes his time examining her and truly wants her to be healthy. read more

When my dog, Drake's stomach twisted and bloated, it was an emergency. I showed up with him first thing in the morning and they immediately recognized what was happening and acted quickly and efficiently. They rapidly gave the run down of the treatment needed and didn't waste time getting him on the operating table which saved his life. Post-surgery, Dr. Davis explained to us in detail how it had gone and what the procedure had entailed. His techs were sweethearts and I could tell they were giving my pup the care he deserved. They allowed me to see him as soon as he started to wake up and let me sit with him for as long as I wanted. Later, when I had to transfer Drake to West Vet for overnight observation, they took the time to let me know how the rest of the day with Drake had gone and seemed genuinely concerned for his well being. The following day, they called me to check on him and when I had concerns about him a couple days later, they let me bring him by to be checked - at no charge. When we walked in, a couple of the techs came out to see him and tell me they were happy he was okay. Overall, they made this traumatic experience better for both my Drake and myself. I found a dog with a tag on her from Hendricks Vet Hospital. She looked ill, so I call them to see if they could get in contact with the dog's owner. For several days they tried, but no luck. So I and a friend took ownership of the dog. She needed vet care but neither one of us could afford to pay for the care all upfront, so we made the decision to get on one of their paw plans where we could pay a monthly fee and she could receive the care she needed. As I was inquiring about this plan, the girl that I talked to was trying to answer my questions but decided to put me on hold so she could grab a pamphlet to better answer my questions. She told me that what the dog needed was covered under this plan (NOT once did she mention that we only get a certain percentage off the care). Long story short, the dog died within 6 weeks after she first starting seeing this vet hospital (no fault of theirs, by the way). As we are walking out after they euthanized the dog, the accounting clerk, Cheryl asked us what debit card would we like to be billed on (my friend and I both had our debit cards on file with them) and my friend said the card ending in ****, which was her card. We thought and assumed it was for everything they did that day for the dog, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO, they also charged her card another fee of $536 for the remainder 10.5 months of the paw plan. Fine, I get it, but they NEVER told us that they were being charged for this, and NEVER did they explain to either one of us that they were doing so. They just did it. So after my friend found out the charge of $532 had come out of her bank account she told me, so I immediately call Hendricks Vet Hospital and talked to Cheryl and explained that even though we were never informed about this charge I was willing to pay for the remaining part of the paw plan but could we continue to make the monthly payments of $53 until it was paid in full. She was absolutely unwilling to work with me at all. She was rude and repeatedly stated that things were discussed with us, like the paw plan only gave us 10% off the care for the dog, that the plan was being canceled after the dog died, and that we would be charged for the remaining time on the plan. I was standing right there with my friend the day the dog died, and SHE NEVER SAID ANY OF THIS. We were trying to do the right thing for the dog and with this vet hospital, but how we were treated was appalling. I would not recommend taking any pet to this vet hospital, they are not upfront on fees, they will tell you that things are covered under the different plans and then turn around and say that they never said that, and they will charge your card on file for something prior to notifying you about the charge. The way that we were treated after the dog died was nothing less than a piece of garbage. Cheryl is extremely unprofessional, unsympathetic, rude, and completely dishonest. read more

They have been able to see us on very short notice with urgent issues, and I also like being able to make an appointment for routine things like shots, etc. Dr Squires is my dog's vet, and both of us feel very comfortable with him! I haven't felt pressured to do a lot of extra procedures, and I feel the pricing is reasonable. Facility is very clean, and small enough to feel inviting. Looking for a vet that uses you to make money? Call Hendricks Vet! They lack personal service so much so that when you sign up for their Paw Plan as a way to be a responsible pet parent, you only receive service reminders via email and physical mail. Oh, and they send them when you've already used up all of your services in hopes you will spend more money and waste your time. They sent me an email reminder that my dog was due for his semi-annual appointment along with a link to book online. I followed the instructions, and booked the appointment, including a notation that I was booking per my semi-annual reminder email for my Paw Plan. After the appointment was said and done, they told me that they don't read those notes and that the field I provided the notation in was pointless. Instead, they insisted I should not have trusted their automated email and that I needed to pay $50 for the exam where they did nothing but spend 10 minutes looking at my dog and telling me he looks great. They did not care that I would NOT have booked the appointment had they not sent me the reminder email leading me to believe he was due for services, again, per my Paw Plan. When I shared that I was dissatisfied with the way they had used their automated process as a source to make $ off of my family, they offered me a $6 discount for the service. That's right, for 10 minutes of a service I would not have booked per their automated email reminder and lack of checking details (my note when making the appointment) I was offered a $44 bill. I told them we were a single income family and shoveling over $44 for an appointment we did not need (and they could have prevented me attending) was not fair. They did not care. The $44 bill was now our responsibility. Seems like they could have offered me more? And instead of apologizing, the woman and the front desk argued with me that it was my fault for trusting the automated email. Why is it my fault that they use automated systems and not personal?? We are finishing up our Paw Plans (2 dogs) since we are in contract for them and don't want to waste more money, but will be cancelling in February as soon as the contract is finished out. Not happy at all with the lack of service and promised follow-thru with their staff. I've been going there ten years and have decided to leave based on my last experience. I have called five times over the last fifteen days asking that the vet call me regarding something very simple that he wanted. I was told he would get the message but have heard nothing. I was hung up on twice from staff with no call back. Promises from them go unmet. Not sure if vets know what is happening on the calls and with lack of follow through. Similar problems noted on Google review. The owners may want to record and monitor their calls unless they are getting the messages and think their time is too precious. BS with how much I have spent. Very unprofessional. read more
