I am so impressed by everyone that works here. Especially Drew Davis. He is so knowledgeable and takes his time explaining everything with every option that you have. He spotted something with my dog that we weren't even there for within minutes of meeting him. Something that my dog was born with that no other vet noticed. And my dog had probably seen close to 10 other vets prior. Including vets from WestVet. (What he noticed with my dog was confirmed with screening) The knowledge and the professionalism here is 100/10. Even the people at the front desk are so great! We had a very disappointing experience with Viking Veterinary Hospital in Nampa. While we initially trusted the care provided for our dog, Ozzy, the billing and communication process was extremely concerning. We were given estimates at the time of service and made decisions based on those numbers. However, additional charges were later presented that were not clearly communicated or aligned with what we understood and agreed to. We paid the high end of the surgical estimate, yet are now being pursued for more without clear justification. Beyond the financial concerns, the way this situation has been handled has felt unprofessional and unnecessarily aggressive, including threats of collections before a clear resolution process. We are currently working to resolve the balance, but we will also be filing a complaint with the Idaho State Board of Veterinary Medicine due to concerns about transparency and communication. We strongly encourage others to ask very detailed questions and get everything clearly documented before proceeding with care here. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience here. I brought my cat in for serious issues, and after the visit, his condition worsened. When he began vomiting repeatedly (7+ times in 24 hours), I called multiple times and was told I'd receive follow-up communication that never happened. Over several days, my calls weren't properly documented or passed along, and I couldn't get clear answers about his treatment or prescriptions. I was given incomplete instructions and left without guidance while his condition continued to decline. I ended up having to take him to another vet, redo all testing, and pay additional costs just to get him proper care. To make matters worse, their records were inaccurate -- stating medication was given in-office when I actually administered it at home. What's most frustrating is that after all of this, there was no accountability and no effort made to rectify the situation -- no solutions, no compensation, nothing. The biggest issue here isn't just the cost, it's the lack of communication, urgency, and basic care when my pet's health was at risk. I trusted them based on a prior good experience, but this time was completely different. I wouldn't trust them with a pet ever again. read more

I took my cat to Viking Veterinary when my cat passed away. They were very kind and compassionate.

My dog was saved by Dr Listman. We came in with our dog presenting lameness in his back leg. After some examination & x-rays we learned he also had a huge tumor in his spleen & it could rupture. Poor guy had to have a splenectomy but he had a full recovery & is doing better than ever. Everyone there was very knowledgeable, including recommending us to West Vet for a specialist for his hip dislocation in a strange joint. New animal hospital who saved my Karmas life. I have a 16 month old Great Dane who decided to chew up and swallow some clothing. They performed immediate surgery and saved her life. They worked with my Pet insurance and made sure she had a healthy recovery. They also saved me money when other vet hospitals would have charged an arm & a leg. Keep in mind when going to this hospital, it's new! That being said it might take a few hours to be seen. Also the seating isn't that comfortable. But what's important is they are polite with excellent customer service and their employees are happy working there. read more

I recently brought my dog Vita in after hours because it was possible she had swallowed a sharp piece of broken plastic. After examining a sample of the plastic and noting Vita had no symptoms, the doctor recommended monitoring her vs taking a slew of X-rays and medication, and sent us home with instructions and without charging a dime. The next day, the missing plastic was found -- Vita hadn't swallowed it, and what could have been a costly visit would have been unnecessary. In addition to saving me loads of money, the staff was so warm, friendly, and kind. Mindy at the front desk took the time to pet and engage with my dog, and I'm so grateful for the care and consideration shown by everyone there. They even had coffee and tea available for the pet parents. And while I hope I never have reason to visit again, if I do, I can be sure my pup will be in lovely, caring hands. read more

We came in for an emergency visit for our cat who was salivating and had received a scratch on her eye, so she was squinting and keeping it closed for the most part. We had to wait about an hour and a half to be seen, but they did put us in a room so that we could be more comfortable than sitting in the car. The vet tech was very friendly and efficient. The vet was also friendly, had good communication and again very efficient. It is clear the staff does care for your animals. Overall, we were very happy with our visit. We were prescribed an ointment for our cat's eye, and have a follow up in 5 days. We will now be using them as our regular vet. read more

We woke up to our frenchie having respiratory problems on a Saturday and had to go to an emergency vet and this one is open 24/7. We got lucky and there was no wait time. The staff and doctor were incredibly nice and knowledgeable. We could not have had a better experience. If we ever have an emergency again, we will be coming back. We had a 7:30 am appt for our 1 year old Jack Russell as a one year check up and his one year vaccinations. We arrived at 7:20 am checked in and sat down to wait. We kept hearing them stating that they were late (who I do not know) finally at 7:55 am a gentleman comes out and ask if this is Ollie and I said yes. He said let's get you in a room as my techs (nurses) are not in yet and he did not know why. The man introduced himself as the Veterinarian (Taylor). We talked about Ollie and he checked his teeth and stated they look great and he checked his heart rate and all was good. He did not do a temperature because Ollie was having no part of that. Then he said he was going to give Ollie his 3-Yr Rabies and his 3-yr Distemperment shots. My husband held Ollie while the Vet gave him his first shot which was the Rabies and Ollie did not move or make a sound and we thought GREAT, then he was giving him the distemperment when Ollie let a very loud continuous yelping and crying and the Vet pulled out the needle before it was done and said "oh this is the wrong medication and it's not mixed" and he left the room to go get the right one. My husband and I looked at one another like what the F***. Ollie meanwhile was still whimpering and we tried to calm him and soothe him. The Vet came back in and said okay I have the right one now and he administered it to Ollie and Ollie did not make a sound. I was so mad and so was my husband about this "wrong medication". We paid $120 for them to administer the wrong medication and then say "oh this is not right" and to have put Ollie through the unnecessary pain of it all. When we got Ollie to the truck he completely freaked out and was uncontrollable at what had just happened. My husband got him home and calmed him down and he was limping on the leg from the vaccine. This I am sure has put a fear in Ollie's head as he has just opened up to us and trusting us to love and care for him. He is a rescue Jack Russell and when we first got him we could tell that he had been abused. We will never go back there again we cannot believe the incompetence of an animal hospital that is suppose to care for animals on a 24hr basis. I would never recommend Viking Veterinary Hospital to anyone. read more

I recently had to take my dog Hank to Viking Veterinary Hospital for an unfortunate tail accident. I was seen quickly and Hank was given a pain injection right away. The staff was very communicative, compassionate, and helpful throughout the entire visit. Hank ended up needing same-day surgery, and the staff took excellent care of him. read more

Nov. 9th, 2023. This was the worst Veterinary experience I have ever had, and their front office staff are the worst at customer service. I tried calling the office two times today at 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to tell them I was running late and both times their phone system kept me on hold for 10 to 15 minutes without anyone answering their phone and the second time I called their phone system dropped me. The last time I was in their office for my appointment I had to sit for over an hour past my appointment time for another dog's emergency. So, I could not understand how being 25 minutes late would cause me not to be able to get the shots for my puppy and I honestly did try hard to contact them. I will do my best to let my friends know your office team is not anyone that I would ever recommend to my Nampa Friends. Very Sad to say you totally SUCK at being a good Veterinary Office Team and No Customer Service. read more

Today was a great day! I couldn't get my baby Maggie into my vet so I needed another place to go. I researched and found Dr. Natasha Stanley, DVM. I was able to get Maggie seen today for some serious stuff and during Maggie's intake the doctor found some thing that could have been real serious (cancer). I talked to the doctor regarding my finances and she was able to help me get through this tough time with in my budget. Thank God it wasn't cancer it was a fatty tumor. Took my dog in 10:00 pm. No one was there but me. My dog was gasping to breath and they did take her back but she was not put on oxygen and suffered while it took them an hour to take ultrasound and X-rays. My own vet emailed over all my dogs records and told them everything so they would know in advance before I got there. They were waiting for me but they had to take there own test in the meantime my dog is gasping for air. My dog was 6 yrs and they told me my dog was old and might not survive being on oxygen. My dog had Pancreatic and aspirated which lead to pneumonia. I don't appreciate my dog suffering to breath plus the night shift should be more experience then graduating a year earlier. There is no one to ask that has experience at night. read more

Came in one evening with my 10yr Jack Russell Iggy breathing fast and acting off for just a couple days. Lobby was busy, they assessed my pet immediately and brought him back and got me into a room promptly. Doctor Stanley, just by looking at him had a suspected something and did the necessary diagnostics to confirm. Not in my wildest nightmares had I any idea this was coming. Plural effusion is what it was called and I knew no matter the reason for it, none of it was good. They treated my 80 yr old mother and I kindly, explaining the situation, not rushing our decision but making sure we knew our decision was justified and and helped us through saying goodbye. The unexpected suddenness was so shocking, however they helped us with compassion you would expect from a family practice who has known you for years. I cant say enough kind words. For a Nampa resident to not have to drive outside of our area in the middle of the night with an emergency, it was a huge blessing. And took her right in as I walked through the front door. Through the whole process of amputating her leg they were very supportive, informative and caring. Appropriately named business. There to rape pillage and plunder. My dog had a non emergent cut that needed stitched up but my vet was not able to get her in at 4:00 in the afternoon. Took her in to an empty waiting room at Viking. Was quoted between $850-1150 for what ended up being 6 stitches. Bill was reduced to $600 after some heated conversation.
