After taking a spill this morning on a wet bridge on the Towpath…read morewhere I bent my rear wheel into something that looked like a two-week old stale curled up donut, I walked into Brimstone, wheel in hand, expecting to be told, we have or can order you a $200 wheel and can get it back to you in the next two or three weeks - yes bike shops are that busy these days. Instead, they dropped what they were doing and Mitch and Brandon had me out of there in 30 mins with a new wheel for half of what I thought it would cost, including replacing the cassette and checking the rest of the bike over for any remaining damage. Thanks Mitch and Brandon for turning what could have been a weekend wrecking experience into a minor road bump. I highly recommend stopping by their shop which is right by the towpath in Canal Fulton! They were very busy at this time so they said if I wanted it done it would be more money right now . So I called orrville cycling and told the guy I had a 2 speed kick back rim we went around and around .He said it would be 60 bucs so I said OK I will bring it .Friday I brought the rim to orrville cycling and dropped it off .Monday some rude girl calls me and said it would be 180.00 bucs .I said that is way out of what it should cost I will pick it up .Tuesday I go in and the girl said it will be $150.00 to start I laughed . Then I see the guy that I talked to and I said what part of 2 speed kick back did you not understand .He said is it broken ? I messed up my wife's bicycle putting it into our van, and I was dreading having to find a bicycle shop available to do the repair that wasn't going to charge me the equivalent amount of what I had paid for it at Walmart. I lucked out and found this place. I spoke to the owner on the phone, who was very accommodating. He informed me the repair might be as inexpensive as $10, but the best news was that he was willing to take a look at the bike immediately whenever I could stop out. What he didn't tell me was something like: I'd have to pay a bench fee of $35 and would have to drop the bike off and to expect that it would be in the shop for at least 2-3 weeks before it'd be looked at. With the good news, I quickly loaded the bike into the van and headed out in search of L-N-M. I found this place in the heart of "Amishland'" As soon as I arrived, Jr. (name of owner) hoisted the bike onto a lift and went to work. He diagnosed the problem as a pesky, little kink in the chain, but within 10 minutes of working intensively, he had resolved the issue. He wrapped up the servicing by putting air in both tires and tightening the loose screw on the kickstand. Excitedly, I took the bike out into the parking lot for a test drive and as expected, I found it to be working smooth as silk. Total Charge: $12.78! If there's anywhere else you can have a bicycle serviced immediately & comprehensively checked for that kind of money, I'm certain it's not within 100 hundred miles of me; probably not even 1,000 miles of me. Unbelievable gratifying experience. Great work, Jr!
