I came here for the ice cream only because this was a quick stop before getting my nails done, but also because their dining experience seems like a confusing organized mess. The cocoa crumble ice cream was divine, but unfortunately outdoor chairs are only available for those who order a meal inside which left me standing on the sidewalk eating my ice cream. The scooper let me try multiple flavors which was nice and there was not a long line for ice cream only a Wednesday evening. I would like to return once I figure out the food situation.

(Review is of dinner service... they also have lunch!) Ok this place was delish and a vibe but there's a LOT to know about this spot... they have some unusual rules, and 100% arrive at 5:30 or even 5:15 if you want to sit down (takeout is also a great option). Everything I consumed was SO GOOD. The pizza was amazing, I had the most delicious Pinot noir, and the ice cream was quite good. Not my favorite in the area -- funky flavors and graham cracker-ish cones lol -- but still a tasty finish to a GREAT meal. The outdoor seating vibe is so cute and peak DC, in a nice little streetery near Dupont. OK, downsides... it's pretty classic-crazy-city overpriced. Our bill was $100 for a pizza, two glasses of wine, and ice cream. They also have some very weird rules: only parties of 2 can sit outside, indoors is standing room only, you can't eat pasta outside, you can't order just wine after 5pm, and you can't sit if you're just getting ice cream. It all came off as odd and anal, sorry to say lol I know the restaurant industry is tough in our city and I believe they're doing what they gotta do. But it is a little much as a diner. The staff were pretty nice about it all though... but they do enforce everything pretty hawkishly, fyi. Overall, I'll happily return despite the strange rule environment. I knew about it beforehand and made peace with it, and the food was SO good that it didn't ruin the experience for me. As long as you get there by 5:30 and want pizza, it should be a fairly normal, pleasant experience!

Had a pre-dinner affogato here and it was prettyyy good. Service was good and the outside seating was really nice.

I normally come for ice cream, but I found occasion to order some special high-end butter from France, and having done so decided to go ahead and get some food here as well. In the midst of a polar vortex, I waited for my stuff inside. The pizza was a foccacia style. I got both their basic one and a fancier cheese with burrata and oregano. The oregano had both a strong taste and a strong aftertaste. It took me a couple of goes to finish it and left me feeling a bit bloated, but it was certainly quality. The butter was of a smoothness and pureness befitting the difficulty of acquiring it. This is a high-end place, both in price and in quality. I also picked up some ice cream, as it was not the best day for a scoop on site, but I'm sure I'll want it eventually.

The in-door ambiance was interesting because of the standing. My issue was that the people next to us would bump into us the entire meal because it is close quarters and the countertop was too tall so I had to hold my plate in my hand the entire meal to eat comfortably. We thought the food was good but overpriced. The pizza was more worth it for the price because it is a larger amount of food. The pizza had crispy edges and had a good serving of burrata on top and tasted good. The ice cream was the star of the show specifically the olive oil crumble ice cream. I recommend getting it in a cone because their cones are delicious, sort of a biscoff taste. I would come back just for the ice cream. The staff at the ice cream cart also let us sample every flavor and were very kind. The staff inside the restaurant were a bit rude to us as we were trying to navigate the restaurant.

This place is weird because there are actually no tables that you can sit at and the line is often so long that it wraps down the block. It's kind of like a Portlandia episode but the food was honestly really good. Highlights of the experience were the eggplant meatballs, which tasted nothing like eggplant and everything like real meatballs, any of the pastas and the cannoli was literally perfect. The service was really friendly and they answered lots of questions about the menu and we didn't feel rushed at all. I'd say it was worth a visit but just wish they had chairs!

Wow I've been so excited to try Gemini! There's been a lot of buzz around this restaurant's food, wine, and ice cream. I don't love that there's no seats, it's a bit of a free for all finding a place to dine indoors or outdoors without chairs or tables LOL. But we were able to snag the window sill, grabbed a few glasses of wine, an app, and some pasta. The service was helpful and friendly, and the food came out quickly. The recommendation on drinks was top notch, and the cherry tomato and tzatziki was INCREDIBLE! We shared the ferretti with sweet corn and guanciale and the fileja alla 'nduja with spicy salami ragu & pecorino calabrese. Both were incredible in their own right. I wish me had enough room to try the pizza and ice cream as well. I'll definitely be back in warmer months to sit outside, try the ice cream, and continue to explore this ever changing menu.

Never misses! Pasta is some of the best in the city and the vodka pizza is amazing. Great wine selection. Love having a casual place to walk in and get great food and drinks without needing reservations.

Gemini in DC was such a great dining experience! The food was absolutely delicious -- the pizza is truly unique, with creative flavor combinations (the white pizza was great!) that make it stand out, and the pasta was fantastic. Super fun flavors all around. The staff was wonderful as well: friendly, attentive, and added to the overall great vibe. The atmosphere itself is fun and lively without feeling overwhelming. Highly recommend ordering a half pizza and splitting a couple of pastas so you can try more of their amazing dishes. Definitely a spot I'd go back to!

Rhubarb oat vanilla ice cream and coffee crunch

This ice cream has to be some of the best ice cream in the city. It is so creamy and the flavors are so complex! The rhubarb oat vanilla ice cream was perfectly sweet yet tangy... I am dreaming of it if I'm honest! The coffee was good too, but I think if I came back, I'd love to try more of their fruity based ice cream. Or the olive oil ice cream! This spot is open 4:30 to 8 and the line grows very fast! But we were fortunately first! It is $9 for two scoops which is a bit much, but honestly it is so worth it. I cannot wait to come back and try more of their unconventional flavors.

Super cute space and concept, excellent and friendly service. We loved the hot chocolate, fries, and iced latte. I want to come back to try the ice cream soon!

I'm obsessed with this place. The pasta and pizza are super high quality and fresh. Loved the orecchiette with pork sausage ragu--it was just the right amount of spicy and a modest portion that let me enjoy the food without feeling stuffed afterwards. For pizza, get a kind with burrata or ricotta on top, they're excellent. The ice cream flavors are interesting and the rotation makes it exciting and special when a flavor that sounds especially good is available. Their hot cocoa is a thick European style that's like drinking melted chocolate. It comes with housemade marshmallows that have a little salty-sweet flavor going on. One of my favorite hot chocolates in DC! It looks like a small cup but it's so rich I don't think it would be wise to have more haha. Hours aren't great (closed Sunday) and standing room only inside. But they're serving special things here so it's worth it to me.

Gemini x Happy Ice Cream has amazing ice cream, wine and even butter! Only two complaints: no indoor seating and the food is pretty expensive. We loved their pasta, especially the tagliatelle and rigatoni, and I always end the night with their olive oil ice cream. They also sell Bordier butter - nothing beats it! Service is on point. Worth a visit.

He knows I love pizza and knows my favorites, and he said I would enjoy the spot. I went in with no expectations and I was greeted by such a welcoming little spot. They were playing some great jams and showing 2000s music videos on the TV. Was this place made for millennials? My friend and I sat at the bar... There were several tables we could have done as well. Further in, there was a register and a digital menu showing the prices of the spices and the combos. We were also handed menus -- one food menu and one drink menu. It turns out they have a lot more than just pizza! And they do cocktails, beer, wine, canned cocktails, sodas... It's a lot! I decided to do a slice of classic cheese and mumbo magic with their house favorite frozen margarita. The cheese, the crust, the sauce... It's $5 a slice, and in my opinion, totally worth it! While the cheese slice was great, the mumbo magic was even better. Each bite was bursting with flavor and it didn't even need red pepper flakes! This is saying a lot, but I think I like this pizza better than Wiseguy! Great frozen margarita too, but it was REALLY really cold. I saw the menu that they have froyo too, which is cool. Usually just the plain tart and a flavor of the day. I went over to the machine to inquire about what the flavor that they was, but they didn't have one that day. But the tart one? It was so delicious! When I go out I never just have the plain flavor, but it really tasted so good. Next time, I'd be excited to try some of the toppings with it It appears to be newer, and I really hope this spot does well. And there is so much more pizza to try!

Gave us warm tap water when it's 90+ degrees out but brought out ice when we asked. Other tables were seated and ordered after us and served food before us. Not sure if they just forgot to put in our order or we were struck with bad luck. Basic things you'd expect like extra napkins, a serving spatula for the pizza, and cheese/pepper flakes to be brought before or with the pizza weren't done. The pizza took 35 minutes to come out and certainly wasn't worth the wait. The pizza was plain, unflavorful, floppy as heck, and had a soup-like liquidy consistency, immediately falling apart. The crust was chewy and unappealing. The pizza wasn't worth $33. Gimme a break. The manager walked by 40 times and didn't stop by once to check on us but seemed to check on every other table. I wouldn't come back.

It's classic New York-style with a thin crust that has the perfect balance of crispness underneath and just enough chew in every bite. They offer a great variety of toppings, and I appreciate that you can order either by the slice or as a whole pie depending on how hungry you're feeling. Now, let's address the service. It was definitely on the snarky side, bordering on rude. Under most circumstances that would knock a star off for me, but honestly... that's part of the authentic pizzeria experience. Having spent plenty of time in the city, I almost would've questioned the legitimacy if everyone had been overly cheerful. The staff wasn't warm and fuzzy, but they kept the line moving and the pizza coming, which is really what everyone was there for. If you're looking for a cozy, leisurely dining experience, this probably isn't your place. If you're looking for an excellent New York-style slice with a beautifully crisp crust that lives up to its reputation, Andy's absolutely delivers. I'll happily brave the crowds for another slice.

When we first walked in, the cashier immediately apologized for the long wait times, thanked everyone for their patience, and let us know they were incredibly short staffed with only two people working. Because the tiny interior was already packed, we decided to leave and do some sightseeing first. However, seeing how good the pizza looked we knew we had to come back later that afternoon. There's no negative details in my review. Nothing but positive things and a small recommendation. 1. Staff and Service I really appreciated the cashier's honesty about running behind right off the bat. That allowed us to make an informed choice rather than get frustrated by a long wait. More businesses could learn from this! 2. Restaurant's Layout The inside is a bit tight and busy, but it's located in a smaller older building, so they have no other options. Since they can't expand the inside adding an outdoor pub height counter for eating, a bench or some seating out front would be a great way to give waiting patrons a place to sit. Also a place to eat. 3. The Pizza -The Veggie Pizza: My nephew and I both ordered this, and the slices were massive you'll see in my pics! They were honestly the largest slices I have ever seen! I love pizza and have eaten it in New York and Chicago, and my slice here held its own. It was loaded with a huge variety of vegetables. I requested to put mine through the oven twice to get the veggies warm and cooked because I noticed my nephew's slice looked like a warm salad on crust. So happy I did because it was delicious! The jalapeños were intensely spicy which is on me, since I'm a bit of a lightweight with spice! -The Meat Options: My son got the pepperoni and thought it was really good, and my husband got a supreme slice which he also said was good . 4. Price and pizza size- they're more expensive than a typical slice, but once you see those big ole slices in my pics you'll understand why. They can't even fit on a plate. They had to serve them to you in an actual pizza box! After reading my long review you're trying to find out if I would go back huh? Absolutely! If I ever in the area or stay at the Hilton DC again, I would definitely walk right on over and get a slice. You can feed a family of three on one slice! Adult and two small children!
