Delicious! Pizza had a nice char, and those garlic knots are nice and crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Great happy hour.

Pupatella was not on my radar..... not until a fellow Yelpie reviewed and posted his food. I saw the pics and had to go! Pizza and me, we have love for one another. When I saw that this place was on the Hill, I knew I would have to walk over. This past Tuesday, I walked over after the lunch rush, and at 2ish it was calm. I was greeted by aromas that only one could dream of. Immediately I'm allured. The cook near the pizza ovens ringed a bell and immediately here came a server asking if I'd like to dine in or take it to go. I was working and opted to take it to go. I ordered the lunch special and also a kids pasta and meatball, I'm greedy and needed to try both. Don't judge me, the smells had this girl hooked! Price is fair considering it's the city. I spent around $30 with a lemonade added. Staff were SO nice! Ambiance is quaint, casual, and friendly. I love the sign! Pizza with no politics so fitting for the Hill! I'm definitely going to be a regular! Let's get into it! Margherita Pizza - Delicious! I couldn't even wait to get to the office. I opened up that box and ate a slice there at the restaurant. It's the sauce for me! Ooooooooohhhhhhh weeeeeee! Salad - Good! If you're a big dressing person ask for it on the side. For me, I don't like a lot of dressing and it was perfect! Meatball Pasta - Meatball was so good! I'm a sauce lover and I will ask for extra next time. Overall I'm coming back, the sweet server asked if I wanted to be in the rewards program, I had said no but wished I would have done it! Sighs. There will be next time! Real soon.

Capricciosa Pizza (sautéed mushrooms, artichokes, prosciutto, and mozzarella)

I came here with a coworker for lunch. They have lunch specials for about $15 (starting at $11 for a margherita pizza, but closer to $13-$15 if you want toppings). The lunch special comes with a side salad and a 9" pizza. It came to about $20 per person for lunch after tax and tip. The side salad is nice if you want to tell yourself you're being healthy, but I'll probably just skip the salad next time and get myself a bigger pizza (standard size is 11"). The side salad is primarily mixed greens with a garnish of pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, and olives. I think I detected one olive piece in the whole bowl (which is fine with me, as I'm not a big olive fan to begin with). The salad was lightly dressed with a balsamic dressing, but it tasted mostly like oil (not enough balsamic vinegar). The mixed greens were too bitter for my tastes. As for the pizza, the pizza is great (fresh out of the oven, at least). When the pizza is hot and fresh, it is light and crisp, with melty cheese and topping combinations that dance in your mouth. But like a good french fry, once the pizza cools down, it becomes chewy and a bit soggy. So a word to the wise, eat the pizza quickly and as soon as it comes out (without burning the roof of your mouth on the hot cheese as I have done many times before). I ordered the Capricciosa which comes with sautéed mushrooms, marinated artichokes, prosciutto, and cheese. I enjoyed my selection. There was a mix of tasty toppings in each bite. They have lots of different pizzas to choose from - from red, white, pesto, and even no sauce pizzas. There are definitely more that I want to try. I wasn't impressed with service. It wasn't busy and we were seated right away, but service was minimal - I'm not sure that full-service is needed at all. Drinks were an afterthought of our server after placing our orders. We were also missing a table setting which was another oversight. Food was brought out quickly, but there was a miscommunication in the kitchen. We both ordered the lunch special which comes with the side salad, but only one came out initially. This was quickly remedied, but a slip-up nonetheless. After the pizzas came out, we were barely checked on. Ambiance was nice. You see the pizza ovens as soon as you walk in to allure you. There's ample seating. They had patio seating (both indoor and outdoor) and additional seating upstairs. I'll recommend Pupatella for the pizza, but not the service.

The fresh made pizza was very good with an excellent crust. I made an online order at lunchtime for the lunch special, a pizza and salad for a very reasonable price. Located a few blocks from Union Station and the Capitol, Pupatella is a welcomed treat to an area that has not been the same since the pandemic. The location used to be an Indian restaurant many years ago but was vacant for years. Pupatella revitalized the exterior patio and reimagined the interior. The inside featured some cool graffiti art and minimalist design. The pizza oven seemed to be the focal point. The pizzas coming out of the oven are worthy of return. The lunch size is perfect with a crust that had me wishing I had a side of sauce to dip it in. The cheese was good, but I ordered a cheese with sautéed onions, instead of my usual margarita pizza. I think the good sauce and excellent crust would have been complimented better with fresh mozzarella and basil. The service was alright and the prices seemed reasonable enough. I need a couple of more visits to properly access the pizza. I need a full-size one to judge it properly. However, my initial visit has me looking forward to future visits. Four stars seems fair, with a promise to reassess over subsequent trips.

The best Neapolitan pizza in the USA! We spent 3 years in Italy some years ago. Whenever we're in DC, we try to get to Pupatella - it's the most authentic Neapolitan pizza you can find. And, it should be. Everything is imported - the flour, olive oil, salami, wine, etc. Highly recommended!

    Diavola Pizza lunch special

Came in on a rainy day. We are from San Diego and we aren't typically fans of Neapolitan Pizza, however this was surprisingly good. We had the Diavola (spicy salami and basil). The basil was refreshing! The lunch special was a pizza and salad (small 8 inch pizza) and it was perfect for one. Would definitely come here again! Service was pretty attentive as well. We came in with a stroller and they were helpful! As we were leaving, my husband noted how tasty the spicy salami was and how he would like some for the house! Great ingredients and would definitely recommend!

    Veggie Panino.

Friendly service. Walkable to Senate building. Primarily outside seating. The tomato sauce for the mozzarella bread was seemingly fresh, flavorful and chunky. The tiramisu was wetter than I prefer but still had a nice balanced sweetness. The pizzas and panini were delicious. The price for the pizzas were inflated considering the size.

    Nutella Angioletti Fritti

The service here is absolutely lovely. But the pizza is hit or miss and the ambiance is a little awkward. We ordered a bianca and a red pizza. The bianca was AMAZING. We chose the onion tart pizza. The flavors complimented each other so well. For the red, we picked the sausage and onion pizza. How on earth did they manage to make such a classic pizza taste so bland? Most egregious of all was the fact that the marinara sauce had no taste to it at all. We loooove provola, and to eat a pizza that didn't appreciate the smokiness of the cheese was disappointing. We left with a smile on our face though because we got a free dessert from their 12 Days of Christmas promotional. The angioletti fritti was so tasty! You can't go wrong with Nutella.

The best neopolitan experience in the DMV! This location specifically is my new favorite. I can't wait to come back and sit outside when the weather is nice. My go-to is the mimosa pizza without ham, my table enjoyed the diavolo and pesto pizza and we shared the sampler & ended with gelato. The service is always top-notch and the food and drinks were divine. Can't wait to come back!

    Napoli Salad.
    Ines G.

This is a great place for pizza! I would rate their pizza anywhere between 4 and 5, it's great, simple pizza. I had their Napoli salad and thought that was just ok. It had a lot of salad and not a whole lot of toppings like prosciutto, etc. This is the place I would go when I'm looking for pizza. Service is great - everyone's was really nice and helpful. Atmosphere was casual, but we did go over lunch. Kid friendly.

    Fried mozzarella balls
    Rodger S.

We had the pepperoni pizza tonight & we loved it. We also tried the caramel gelato & liked it very much as well. The Caprese salad appetizer was good enough, but the tomatoes weren't as rich & flavorful as we wished they'd been.

    Margherita DOC

I would eat their pizza for every meal if it was possible, because I know that the pizza is amazing, and typically as close to authentic Neapolitan pizza as is available for delivery here but the lack of consistency as to if it will be amazing, or blech from order to order is frustrating. We order the Margherita DOC, typically with extra buffalo mozzarella. The pizza last night appeared to be raw on top, the extra cheese and basil is almost all on one half, and the bottom is burnt. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the bottom was burnt until after taking a few bites of the first slice. How does this even happen? Very sad.

Nicely priced at $12 each. Also served with the cocktails were a bottle of still and a bottle of sparkling water - very welcomed on our August 20,000 step sight-seeing tour. We ordered the $12 shrimp cocktail - 5 decent shrimp with two sauces. The $7 fries were insane! If we're in the area again on this trip, we'll definitely stop in again for Martini Happy Hour.

She was most likely on auto pilot and appeared embarrassed when she realized it. I politely smiled and said (confidently), table for 1. We solo diners need to be loud and proud! I digress... Before being seated I found the restroom. I found it odd that it was extremely dim. The main dining room was brighter than the restroom! I also saw the Photo Booth. Interesting addition. $5 for pictures. I was seated at a small round table with two chairs by the window. The restaurant was plenty busy, and I'm just glad I wasn't asked if I wanted to sit at the bar (I didn't). My server Noel brought two bottles of water: still and sparkling. I requested lemon slices, which he brought. And I proceeded to finish the entire bottle of sparkling by the end of the meal...guess I was thirsty! But I appreciated the option of both. I forgot to ask for a straw, but saw them in a container at the register right behind my table, so I got one myself. After ordering I noticed a nearby table had some bread so I asked Noel if they served complimentary bread. He said yes and apologized for not bringing it initially. Not that I needed it, but I don't eat bread with butter often and this was a night out to indulge a bit. There were two slices, nothing special. My food arrived within about 10-15 minutes and looked so scrumptious. I ordered the lamb and short rib meatballs and Brussels sprouts. The meatballs were pretty good, but what made them even better was the tzatziki sauce. I didn't realize the green rice was on one side of the plate until I was almost done. That tzatziki sauce was really all I needed to go with the meatballs. It was cool and creamy to go with the dry, meatiness of the meatballs. I honestly wish there had been more of it! I did not finish the rice, which didn't look super appetizing because of the intense green color. I will say though, I'm not a fan of spicy food but the tzatziki had a kick. I think perhaps due to chopped jalapeños. I tried to avoid them once I realized. The Brussels were delicious! Roasted to perfection, not too charred and not too mushy. I requested the green goddess sauce on the side because I'm not a huge sauce person, but once I tried it, I couldn't stop. Again, the combination of the creaminess of the sauce with the flakiness of the Brussels was a genius pairing. During the meal the beverage manager stopped by. I didn't have any drinks with the meal, but perhaps I will return to see what they have. Noel brought the bill at my request, then brought over the portable device so I could pay at the table. While that process is efficient, it's always awkward leaving a tip when the server is standing right there. Anyhow, overall it was a good experience and a delicious meal!

Boozy ice cream with all kinds of different flavors, plus non-alcoholic options for people like me who don't drink. ‍ We were given three samples as part of the tour (don't ask me the names because I absolutely forgot ). I also bought two additional pints to take home with my own money, so clearly the ice cream passed the test! It was good, not overly sweet, and even the alcohol-infused samples weren't so strong that I couldn't tolerate them as a non-drinker. The shop itself is VERY tiny and was SUPER busy, with customers constantly coming in and out. The communication between the tour and Tipsy Scoop, however, was...interesting. The staff apparently didn't know our group was coming, and that was actually shared with another paying customer while we were there. There also wasn't much direction from the tour hosts, so our entire group basically walked into this tiny shop at once. Now, I completely understand why that was a problem. We were a LARGE group taking up a lot of space in an already packed store. What I didn't love was how the manager essentially kicked our group out. I understood the need to clear the space, but the delivery could've been handled a little better. At the same time, based on what we were told, it didn't appear Tipsy Scoop had been properly prepared for a whole food tour to descend upon their tiny store. So I'm not putting the tour's coordination issues on Tipsy Scoop. As a business, I liked the concept, enjoyed what I tried, appreciated having a non-alcoholic options, AND left with two more pints. Would I return? Maybe. Just not with an entire tour bus behind me.

When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience.
