His goal seemed to be find something wrong with you, exaggerate the condition and then exploit it for as much profit as possible. Heaven forbid there actually be anything wrong with you. Any type of physical ailment, he will farm you out to someone else to treat. If you have a permanent condition that requires a pain medication stronger than a 81mg aspirin, forget it, he refuses to place his name on any prescription that could remotely be linked to a skeletal or muscular pain killer, muscle relaxer or nerve pain. To question his actions or the actions of his nurse Kasey is met with lecture and criticism upon you for daring to challenge their opinions and actions or in most of Dr Hemaya.'s cases, his inactions. I'm too damn old to be talked down to just because my degree is not in the medical field. My last Dr before he retired stated "I know my body better than anyone else". Dr Hemaya's approach to everything relating to me was "you're an idiot and shut up, I'm the Doctor here, not you". Good Riddance.............

I know their vaccine policy, but due to religious beliefs, there is one vaccine I refuse to give to my children. I came to the vaccine appointment after speaking with the front desk about it and they said to talk to Dr. Fletcher about it at my appointment because it's not that big of a deal. I went in and upfront said I understand their vaccine policy at the office and understand if we can no longer be patients, but there is only one vaccine I cannot give due to religious grounds. Instead of professionally explaining to me their policy and letting me know they can no longer serve my family, Dr. Fletcher completely berated and belittled me about how she was a better advocate for my children than I am and that I must be okay with dead children. After this I tried to calmly explain my beliefs were religious and again understand if they can no longer serve my family and she continued to disrespect me and tell me how unethical my religious beliefs were. All of this in front of both of my children. I couldn't believe the unprofessionalism and audacity to spit on my religious beliefs when a simple "we can no longer serve you" would have sufficed. We immediately left the office and called to make a new appointment with a new pediatrician so the certified official letter they sent the next day ejecting my children from their practice really wasn't needed.

The receptionist rudely told me I would not be seen until February as I am a new patient. I explained that I had been seen at 2 other offices, and was told I could go to any of the offices. We have moved closer to the Lee's Summit office, and I wanted to change to that office. She told me that it didn't matter. It's unfortunate that the first person you encounter is rude, and has no intention of assisting you. I spoke with the independence office, and was assured this is not St Luke's policy.

I scheduled and arrived for lab work for a cholesterol appointment, which I specifically scheduled for a particular time. I arrived five minutes tardy, however, I was told I arrived 15 minutes late therefore I could not be seen. Apparently, my appointment time was arbitrarily changed and moved up 10 minutes. The Practice Manager started with some song and dance about scheduling according to doctor availability blah blah blah. It seems to me the staffer setting appointments should be aware of doctor availability/time slots when setting appointments, which is pretty relevant information. I've been a sport since Dr. Blay's departure by agreeing to be seen by a nurse practitioner as well as agreeing to being "contracted out" to doctors at other practices when a matter is beyond the scope of the nurse practitioner, which ironically a nurse practitioner would have sufficed for my needs today. At any rate, I'll be looking for a new provider.
