Brewster is so lucky to have this Bakeshop! I've been here a few times, and it's consistently good. So many gloriously delicious looking pastries, cute modern farmhouse decor, and hot, strong espresso drinks. I got the salmon bagel, and added capers, onions and tomatoes (which is $0.75 extra). They whipped up a unique take on this breakfast favorite, with the salmon, onions and tomatoes chopped up and topped on the bagel like a bruschetta. It was fresh and flavorful. Also got my beloved cortado, which came in a huge mug & I could actually hold the cup because there was a handle vs. the normal cortado cups that are burning hot with no option to hold them other than to burn off your finger tips on the hot glass. (Who invented those?!) The chef (who I suspect is also an owner?) was super chipper and friendly, and he delivered my dish, while the sweet barista brought out my coffee. This spot is giving homegrown local vibes, and I'm here for it.

Yummy bakery in Brewster that I'm glad I finally made it to!! The bakery is nicely decorated and has tons of display cases with a variety of baked goods as well as freshly prepared foods. I saw everything from dips to salads to cookies and croissants. We went on a Saturday morning and decided to try some pastries and then got a cookie for later. We shared a berry scone, zucchini bread, and my husband got a ham and cheese croissant. The scone was decently moist but was pretty bland and needed some jam or other accompaniment to really hit the mark. The zucchini bread was pretty good! The winner was the croissant it was flavorful and the cheese was perfectly crispy on the outside. The cookie was peanut butter chocolate chip and truly one of the best cookies I've had. We also tried an iced tea and it was so delicious. Overall we really liked this spot! Next time I hope to try some of the freshly baked breads. I'm really glad we finally made it here and encourage everyone to make the trip!

I blame sheer laziness on the holdup of not writing a review on this place. This is hands-down one of the best, if not the best bakery I've ever been to in my entire life. I will say the only shame about this place is it's in the small town of Brewster. I feel like if they ever expand it out to a more lucrative area, their business would explode. I don't think they're hurting for business in anyway; I just can't imagine how this place would do in a better area. Now what to get : I would say pretty much everything is worth trying, besides, maybe the donuts or the macaroons. Those are the only things I've had there that weren't very great. The donuts taste like pizza dough, and every time I try macaroon, it just doesn't have much flavor. Now for the good stuff! When it comes to the sweet treats, I don't think there's one thing there I haven't tried unless he puts out something new. Every time he makes his chocolate pie, that is definitely something I grab. Another favorite is the Paris breast. The Keylime pie is perfectly balanced. Just the right amount of sweetness and tart. It's been a while since I've gone there, so unfortunately I'm forgetting a lot of the names of some of the desserts he has created. But safe to say anything chocolate is a winner. There is this delicious creation that I believe is called the Hazelnut Crunch Bar. If I recall correctly, it's like five layers of different chocolates, and it's to die for. The cookies are great as well. Chocolate chip cookie is the standard and my favorite. Seriously, when I tell you, I've probably tried every dessert there, I am not kidding. If I get diabetes in a couple years, this place will probably be why haha. Now my favorite thing to get there is the cheddar dill scone. It tastes like the Red Lobster biscuits went to French heaven. All the scones are great, but that one's my absolute favorites. When I used to visit, I would always leave with a couple of them and just throw them in the freezer. They make great breakfast sandwiches. I used to get salmon bagel, but you can deconstruct it and get a piece of sour dough on the side instead. I've purchased sourdough from there a couple times and it's been good as well. Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. So if you're in town, definitely give this place a try. You won't regret it.

Great little spot for fresh baked breads, bagels and more tasty goodies. Fresh coffee and a terrific menu of breakfast and lunch options. Came in for lunch and coffee to meet a friend traveling the 84/684 route. Conveniently located two minutes off the intersection of 684/84/202/6. Service was super friendly and attentive. Prices are extremely reasonable. It's got an old town vibe and offers seating here and there around the bakeshop and kitchen. Great little place!

Amazing bakeshop with tons of things to choose from baked fresh daily! From pizza on certain days to bagels to GB buns to chocolate croissants. The baked goods here are pretty incredible. This place is ran by two incredible chefs that worked Michelin-starred restaurants who opened up their dream place during covid. They're pastries speak passion. Baked goods isn't all they do here at GB, they also make sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, soups to take home and incredible tasty and healthy meals ready to go. They are committed to using the highest quality ingredients in all their recipes. They strive to use organic flours, avoid artificial dyes or flavors and rely on honeys and maple syrup in place of white sugar. Coffees are even brewed through a reverse osmosis water system! These guys are extraordinary at what they do and the quality that they serve and strive for. Love the inside space it's a lot of fun. The little outdoor area that holds a tiny table with enough space for 2-4 people is my fave. Speaking about fave: you MUST try their spinach and artichoke grilled cheese. It's from another planet. Also a cheese pullers dream. Yes, we know. It gets pretty warm inside during summer but I'm sure they're working on it. This doesn't detract at all from the quality of food items they serve. Yes, also quality does cost. So if you want quality, accept it. This isn't a fast food/bake shop. It's evident. So just enjoy the place, don't drink hot coffee on a hot day, and you'll be fine.

I just finished lunch and sat down at my computer and Yelp says "you should write a review of General Bakeshop" and I'm wondering, how did Yelp know my lunch was a delicious Shrimp Po Boy from General Bakeshop? I figured it was karma so I'd better write this review. A couple of our neighbors at our place in Danbury recommended this to us so we tried it out for the first time last summer for breakfast. Croissants, coffee and some sweets....all were amazing. The price put a bit of a dent in my wallet but compared to what you'd get at Dunkin or someplace, it was worth it. We've been back a few times, mainly for croissants but a friend came up to visit so we stopped by on the way home from the train station and he got a Roast Beef sandwich that he raved about. Fast forward to today, my husband was on his way back from getting our car inspected (shoutout to Brewster Service!) and stopped to get some sandwiches. He opted for the aforementioned roast beef and I got the Shrimp Po Boy. We were each impressed with our sandwiches. Bread is half the battle with a sandwich and the roll on which my Po Boy was served was incredible. Fluffy, yet strong, with great texture. The bread was strong enough to hold the shrimp but there were so many, a few fell out while I was eating. The sauce was great too. At $16, it's not a cheap sandwich but I was completely full by the time I finished and it was amazing. I am a big fan of General Bakeshop. It's definitely worth a visit or two.

This was our first time here. We went for a late breakfast/early lunch. Service was friendly. I had the bacon egg and cheese which was delicious. My husband had the chicken sandwich which he said was very good. Our daughter had the pancakes which she really enjoyed. She also got a couple of macarons to go. Everything tasted fresh. The baked goods looked amazing tho I didn't try any of them. Maybe next time.

There was no sense in ruining more of our evening by sending the kid back with the messed items so, he got a big tip and we sent him in his way. 3. This one is major and the reason we won't eat there again...all 3 pizza were raw dough, soggy crust that was undercooked and a pale whiteish tan color on the crust. It was flavorless, badly made, just ugly. That's petty sounding but pizza generally looks delicious but this looked like it had been dropped. Not to mention all 3 boxes were stacked on each other in the delivery drivers car and the stream of pizzas softened the cardboard boxes so they collapsed in on each other. How this kid couldn't see or resolve the issue before he brought us squished pizzas is beyond me. 4. But the taste, right? That's what makes or breaks a place. Broken, it's just broken. The dough, which is specifically the pizza and the garlic knots, was not even good enough to be used in the marinara sauce. The pizzas were doughy, gooey, flavorless, unsalted, not yeasty, no chew to the dough and it was not a good vessel to carry toppings. The cheeses were greasy, rubbery and waxy. That fake cheap bulk bought cheese that only the cheapest places buy...the cheap restaurants really seem to like buying a using cheap cheeses that the customers don't enjoy and that make any effort to prepare good food automatically hit below the mark consistently. It isn't that difficult to make fresh mozzarella cheese to use on your dishes. It's lazy. How lazy is it to be a real Italian pizza joint and everything tastes bland and like the place is doomed. The cook would seem soulless and depressed by what he or she is putting out for public consumption. So they got a ton of money for a bunch of garbage that was delivered in squashed boxes and we were overcharged for food we ended by throwing away. Everyone tried everything and no one enjoyed any of it. I don't recommend wasting money here unless you looking for expensive badly made garbage. We are all getting squeezed to death financially but I refuse to support a local small business that doesn't care about it customers anymore.

Tucked in a little side street is this amazing and incredible Portuguese bakery right in the heart of Carmel. This husband and wife duo is extremely kind and ready to serve you your favorite baked goods. Though baked goods are ready to serve you, custom cakes, wedding cakes and special occasion desserts is their jam. You can place a custom order of just about anything, just speak with Stefanie and she's got you! This quaint little bakery is nice and cozy, you can order to go or hang out for a moment. They also have tea and coffee available, nothing crazy but just something to go with that sweet or savory treat.

The prices are absolutely ridiculous as I was quoted well over $100 for 15 cupcakes in a basic cupcake cake in the shape of a baseball. And was told she only offered 2 flavors - vanilla and chocolate. lazy lazy lazy and boring flavors I was offered...vanilla, chocolate...that's it. Vanilla and chocolate. A professional baker who can't be bothered to speak with a potential customer, who can't be bothered to do more than offer a lazy average box flavored cake at the most ridiculously horrendous prices. It's almost funny. Slow to respond once contact was made and so absolutely "who cares" and snotty. It was an exciting event for me...I realize my life isn't important to her and her life isn't important to me but her business is providing a service for an event important to the customer, duh. I was trying to keep my business local and I completely believe in supporting local small businesses. I will never use this baker and I'm still mad at how she lazily strung me along with her "email only" contact. Can you imagine? You can't be bothered to speak to your potential customers. I have 2 businesses and I would never behave like this or I'd be done. But then again, I expect to be treated as I treat others, and customers are important. I made the above review based 100% on my own personal experience. I have had no influence anyone, I don't know anyone who has used her. I don't know her and I still have no idea what she sounds like or looks like. This was a disgraceful way to conduct business and this is the review you get for that uncomfortable and rude process. Happy ending though ...I got 2 speciality 3 layer cakes for under $100 from a place in Patterson. It was wonderful in the end but the stress of having to find someone last minute was awful. Vanilla or chocolate, sheesh!
