Very interesting museum. I learned more than I thought. NOW, the only thing that was difficult was trying to find it. I was on the base and the old entrance is not open and google doesn't know that. took me three times to figure it out. I told the lady at the shop they need to put signs up at the old entrance. You enter off of Hwy 31. Want to give Gloria a big shout out for excellent customer service. So, this place is big and it is free. His whole family was in the service. Just so interesting. Don't forget to drop some money in the donation box. Enjoy. May 2023

Two easy hours to tour the Patton Museum and learn about the historic trajectory and tragic death of this great American leader. The Museum is on the grounds of the famed Fort Knox, so you will need to stop at the visitor center first. Provide identification to the armed guard so that a pass can be issued for you to be on this federal installation. Once that's issued and you are free to go on base, there is ample signage to ensure that you don't get lost or wander into places where civilians are not allowed to go. Just follow the signs. Getting off the base from the museum is easy and you're right back onto the highway. (The museum was closed as part of the COVID pandemic but has reopened to the public as of July 2020.) The museum is full of quotes and memorabilia not just of General Patton and his leadership, but of others who have reached similar rank in the US military including General Colin Powell, who served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1989. A great history of World War Two is here, at least the European theater of operations part. A number of General Patton's personal items are on display including his early uniform, his guns and the vehicle from his 1945 fatal accident. Tip: Always wear a seatbelt, kids. A tanks, jeep, and personnel carrier are on display as well as flags, guns and many of the General's quotes and sayings. It is not very interactive so it's probably not going to interest folks under age 10 or so. The museum is completely free and there are picnic tables outside for hanging out. Worth it if you're in the area but I wouldn't make a special trip unless you are very interested in WWII history and General Patton. [Round number review 13600 overall, 919 of 2020.]

This museum provides a variety of military hardware and exhibits focused on military leadership. The museum can be viewed in less than 2 hours. The gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs.

This museum was just completely remodeled just last year and it's beautiful. To enter the museum you must enter the military base 1st. Then go through the check in process which took us about 1 hour. So be prepared and have your ID. Once your cleared to go on the base it's only a mile or two drive to the Patton museum which was easy to find. The museum has its own large parking lot. As you leave the parking lot there are several tanks and a few guns/canons outside to look at as you approach the museum. It's FREE to visit the museum (free to park and free to enter the base). Once inside you will encounter several vehicles, weapons, quotes, lots of reading and just about anything that had to do with Patton. There is even a small theater which plays movies about Patton. This is a MUST SEE museum that is very clean, tidy and orderly inside, and at free, you just can't beat it!!!!!!! Plan on at least a half day including the check in to enter the base. If you want to make it a full day you can stay a full day. Another thing I liked was there were several areas to sit and rest inside the museum as well.

Excellent museum. Changed up since my last visit. More focused on Patton now, used to be the Tank Museum. Great Artifacts from both the man and the movie. You need maybe an hour. Remember, this is in Fort Knox which is an active military base. The museum entrance is not the main fort entrance. You can see the gold depository from the highway but not up close.

You can't beat free admission! Located off base and right off of the highway. Be careful your gps may incorrectly tell you to go onto Fort Knox and take you in the back way which is inaccessible. This museum has a lot of really cool and unexpected items from George Patton's life. My only complaint is that there isn't really a sequence to the timeline of displays and the traffic flow of the museum is kind of confusing. Other then that great museum and I highly recommend for anyone interested in the military or WW2!

This museum is available to the public, with access from US-31W just north of the Main Gate at Fort Knox. The museum remains open while undergoing current renovation. I was able to view displays which tell the story of Army leadership training and the related ROTC/JROTC from it's beginnings in Vermont to the present-day system of military education at public and private universities throughout the U.S. Another small display about the U.S. Bullion Depository, or the 'Gold Vault' provides a bit of history regarding the construction and operation of this important military complex at Fort Knox. Armor Memorial Park displays markers commemorating the various units and areas of the world to which they were deployed. The 33,000 square foot display is undergoing a total renovation of the inside of the building. They promise to exhibit cutting edge immersive and interactive technology to put Army leadership in the broader context of the American story. Changes will depict the Army of 1775 through the present day. The famous Patton collection is also undergoing preservation and restoration. It will go back on exhibit and feature items that have not been on display for years, if ever. A new exhibit will display the Army's fire truck that was on duty at the Pentagon on 01 September 2001 and the story of first responder leadership. The grand reopening date is set for 14 June 2013. An ongoing WWII Barracks restoration project is being supported by the Patton Museum Foundation, through donations and volunteers. ~~ Much of the outdoor tanks on display has been moved to Fort Benning. There are only 3 tanks left of the many that used to be here. Still, the museum shows promise and I look forward to a repeat visit in the future. Groups and Scout troops might want to check out the daytime and overnight recreation facilities available for rent at Camp Carlson.

Excellent museum, not too big, not too little. Will visit again to see future exhibits that are currently in the works.

Visited on a trip through Kentucky and was surprised by just how much the museum contained. Large sections of it were still under construction in preparation for an upcoming 9/11 display, and I think a few of the tanks are currently at other locations, but there were still plenty of great displays and an array of historical pieces to get lost in. Staff was great and helpful and we were never lacking someone to answer any questions we had. I highly encourage anyone interested in military history (or tanks or guns, bc come on) to check it out!

Still a lot of huge tanks to look at even though much of it is moved to Fort Benning, GA. All the stuff about Patton himself is still there and there's a lot of it. You can walk around and see tanks from WWII, Japan and Germany, to present times. Tanks outside to look and take pictures with too. Worth going to, especially sense it's free.

A great look into the past and a great way to honor him and our history it sits right on the Fort Knox base

This museum gives visitors several slices of that history, from bourbon and whiskey to racing to the Civil War and the tobacco industry. One of my favorite permanent exhibits is on the second floor. It's a room dedicated to Kentucky bourbon and whiskey called the Bourbon Bottle Hall. It's just a bunch of bottles of whiskey and bourbon on backlit white shelves, but it feels supernatural to step into the room and be surrounded by all of the different bottles. You got everything from your Elijah Craigs to your Pappy Van Winkles. What else? There were Kentucky sports mascot costumes on display, a life-sized wax statue of Colonel Sanders holding a bucket of his Kentucky Fried Chicken with its 11 herbs and spices, a little play area for children, a display of German toy soldiers, a display of costumes made by local students, and lots of other interesting things to look at. The Frazier is good for all ages, but it's mostly a "looking" museum, so there aren't too many interactive things to touch, which is why it might not hold the attention of really young kids. My tween and teenagers liked it, but they were done within about 30 minutes. It's a small museum, but I think it has a lot of cool stuff in it and definitely worth a visit.

I'm not going to list all the attractions on the tour or in the museum. Their website does a good job. Our tour guide did an admirable job seeing how this was only his third tour. Ticket staff was very nice considering I was six minutes late for the tour. They just put us on the next tour. Displays in the museum were well spaced out and lit nicely, encouraging photography. One exhibit allowed you to actually hold bats used in games by famous players like that one, Babe something... Oh, Babe Ruth. The lady running that stop was very pleasant and eager as well as capable of taking your picture for you. For not being a big stick and ball person, I smiled a great deal and will give my souvenir mini bat a good home.

The major portions of the museum, however, are devoted to the flashier aspects that really shine of this small burg in the Midwest: the circus and laxative waters! The most square footage is devoted to the huge, massive, enormous circus in miniature. My partner is all about miniatures and was totally engrossed in this display.
