We went today to get pricing for the shower system for new construction of ours. We had gone last week and we had selected some systems and added to our acxount. Today, we went in because we decided to switch companies to delta for all our shower system and wanted to get pricing so we can make decision Both time we dealt with David and he was good last week and showed us all the options as we asked. Today when we went in, he was already in bad mood once we asked we wanted to cancel last week selection and make a new selection and know prices. Somehow that was difficult for David to do and he gave a bad attitude from the beginning. He got frustrated in finding out pricing for delta. And he asked ," can we please decide what we want the shower to do"? He asked that sarcastically rather than looking for prices for specific shower systems we asked ahout. I subsequently gave sarcastic reply without raising my voice at all but I assume David did not like that. We again conveyed him that we just want to see pricing for specific system as we like them and we want to compare it to other quotes we have seen so.we can make a decision about purchasing Then he asked us whether after looking at pricing, whether we will make a purchase today or not. We already told him last week and today that after we make decision our contractor will.come.and purchase. At this point, he told us that we can leave and he will email us the quote. We did say we did not mind waiting while he adds the systems to our account until final pricing comes However, he was adamant on us leaving. Then, we said we can wait. And to that he left his chair and told us rudely that we can wait. Whole encounter was completely rude and unprofessional. Not sure what ticked David off and he did not want to help us. For our new construction, we have shopped for quotes at different places and never encountered such rude behavior from anyone. David will say he was not rude but looking out for our time but my and my father both felt that he did not want to help us. I am not sure if all sales person are bad there but our experience with David was certainly not very good I would not tell anyone else that they shouldn't go to this location because our experience was bad with David only. However, after this rude encounter, we have definitely made a decision that for our new construction or future one, we will never get anything from GPS as they cannot even provide basic decency of decent human behavior from their staff Edit: We received their response and they were defending their employee who was rude and unprofessional We did understand that David was trying to help especially the first time when my parents met him. However, second meeting his behavior was definitely rude from beginning even before we requested to change the systems and that was noticed by my father as well So if you say both me and my father are wrong and cannot perceive rude behaviour, you can say so. I am sure David has had better days with other customers but that day was definitely not one of the days and we both felt the same I understand you will continue to defend unprofessional and rude behaviour of your employees and it is your right as private company to do so And if David was so professional, he would have emailed us the quote he told us before he stormed out from his desk. But why would he do that? He has such supervisors and owners that can defend his behavior so he has no incentive to be polite or professional However, we have and will take our business elsewhere for our future needs. I understand that losing one customer will not make any difference to you whatsoever from your response. I will not tell anyone on this to avoid this place however we have told all our family members to avoid GPS at Piscataway. read more

Buyer beware ask about the return policy before you buy anything!! We bought a Zurn flush sensor from the Montville Nj store and it didn't work right out of the box my tech returned it an hour later and they would not exchange it or refund us. Always check amazon they are way cheaper!!! read more

Another great experiance, called out today after a tooth extraction due to a sleepless night and amoxicillin based diarrhea, thought wow its chilly and realized no heat!!! Being a DIY kind of guy I dove right in and replaced all the sensors and a bad blower motor, for everything from GPS for about $300, super help and they had all my parts! I purchased from the Union store, but could not find a yelp page for Union. Recently affected by Hurricane IDA, GPS came through in time of need with a water heater when approached easily and respectfully. Few days went by and found that I bought the wrong water heater and had to request for returning the water heater. When calling them, I was met with "This is not a Home Depot, we won't take it back, call the Edison store maybe they will take it back." After numerous conversations back and forth about returning an unopened, originally packaged water heater, I was finally able to get an agreement to return it with a 10% restocking fee. There was a lot of concern over returning a water heater that was never opened and more poor customer service then I expected from them. Ended up paying $200 for something I never got to use. According to https://generalplumbingsupply.net/returninfo: "Restocking fees are not charged in most cases. Exceptions may include general returns for special order or discontinued items, and any orders that receive customer negotiated discounts. Items shipped via LTL must be pre-approved prior to return and the customer will be responsible for all return freight." Apparently I fell into the small percentage of folks who did not qualify for the no restocking fee because why? Careful doing business here, they can be nasty and prey on the victims of a hurricane. read more

Last month I decided to do a total renovation to my bathroom. I had selected my floor and wall tile and then came to GPS with my samples. I discovered my unique floor tile that I loved so much was almost impossible to complement a vanity but Karen Levinson helped with the selection of the vanity along with the other essentials i.e. all plumbing hardware, toilet etc. She knows her products very well along with pricing to match my budget. She showed me the many different styles of all of the things I selected and discussed each one with me. The process took quite a while and she never tired of helping me. Shop elsewhere. These people screw up consistently. We purchased all fixtures to remodel a bathroom from GPS. The order was about $2500. All items were supposed to be delivered at one time. But the two sinks were not included with the delivery. GPS promised them within 2 days, but they never arrived. We had to drive over to their warehouse ourselves to pick them up. When the job was complete, we brought back three unused items for a refund. We had paid by check, and were told our refund check would be mailed to us within 7 business days. After three weeks with no check, I called GPS' man office. They told me the branch where we returned the items had never processed the refund. Scott knows his stuff, but will not pressure you into a choice you don't love. He has a lot of balls to keep in the air, but he holds them up there with flourish. I had the joy of speaking to the manager, who truly appreciates his customers and understands that customers do come first. He gave us a credit just for our troubles, which he didn't have to do. Go for your supplies somewhere else. We dealt with them twice, and won't go there again. First time it was 2 years ago when after quite a long visit to their store and careful consideration of all design details, we placed an order for a kitchen sink. A week down the road they reached out to us saying those sinks weren't being produced anymore. Our kitchen remodeling was in full swing so we had to quickly change other colors to accommodate this deficiency. Very recently we went there again to get a bathroom tap, vanity and a sink. Selected all of them, placed an order, bought a tap - and the same story: one week after placing that order we got a call that sink wasn't available. And we can't return the tap which was bought specifically for that sink. Do they even know what their vendors and suppliers produce? Are they requesting/getting timely updates from them? Why offer something if you don't even know for sure that it's available? SA Mary-Beth didn't even bother to apologize, she clearly didn't care about cancelling our $1.4k order. read more

I live in East Brunswick and was in search for a plumbing supply on a Saturday. I stopped by my local plumbing supply in East Brunswick but they didn't have in stock a faucet for my shower. I found General Plumbing Supply in Edison and decided to give them a shot. It was such an amazing experience. They have a whole showroom with so much variety if items to choose from. After only about a minute of looking, I was approached by a sales associate asking me if I needed help, I advised I was looking and didn't decide on anything yet. After looking through the whole showroom I decided on a faucet and as soon as I had the look that I needed help, Scott, another sales associate, approached me and he was extremely helpful and friendly. I was so happy that within minutes of telling him what I wanted, he had placed and order and the items were pulled from their warehouse on site. It was so painless to place the order. Scott was extremely helpful as I had several questions on possibly getting the item in a different color. The pricing was so competitive. I went to GPS last week to look at faucets, bathroom fixtures, kitchen things etc for my Florida house Reno. I went there previously 20 years ago when I redid my Jersey House. Boy was I glad I did! I was directed to a wall, not really knowing what to look for. Then can SCOTT, and half an hour later walked out with $2800 worth of material. I was looking for a farm sink and faucet but didn't know much about what I wanted. I called late in the day and was connected to Kathy Cox in sales. She was amazing. She knew everything and was able to help in an instant. She answered all of my questions quickly and efficiently and even had what I wanted in stock. She was more than efficient and so was the delivery. I had to coordinate many things with the new construction. I couldn't have asked for a more efficient process. There was even an issue at the end with my faucet going missing at the new construction site and Kathy was more than accommodating with the re-ordering and delivering. My Delta touch sensor faucet needed a new solenoid. I called GPS and they referred me to their Edison store. The very kind woman instructed me that Delta would probably replace the solenoid for free and supplied me with Delta's customer service number. In fact Delta has a new solenoid in the mail as I write at no cost to me. GPS gets the 5 Stars because they could have sold me a solenoid for like $200 but referred me to get the best outcome and this is what motivated me to write this review. read more

Outstanding customer service from my local GPS (General Plumbing Supply) store and showroom sales associate! Neil Patrick (GPS) provided exceptional customer service and acted more like a consultant then just trying to sell me something I didn't need or want. This is rare. He was friendly, patient and knowledgeable, providing me with expert guidance on the best approach to replace fixtures on my existing shower and tub. I had an advocate with Neil who looked out for my best interests saving me thousands of dollars (literally) plus avoiding unnecessary construction. First, they overcharged me $160.00 . I brought back my receipts and asked them to issue credit, they got rude with me, and refused to correct their error. Finally, after 1 hour meeting with their branch manager, they credited me back. It got really ridiculous when I came to pick up my order, which was paid in full, and they alleged that I owe them $68.00! When I called to check on the status of my order, they would tell me '' we are busy with other customers" and then would never call me back. And that after I bought $1500.00 of supplies from them. It's pretty hard to believe that something like that could have happened in America at a legit business. That place is a total ''idiocracy''. Awful prices and awful service make for an awful experience. Both the sink and garbage disposal I was interested are far less expensive online. When I told the salesperson Holly that the price she quoted me for a garbage disposal was about double the price that it sold online she was clearly not happy with me. After receiving a quote for a sink drying rack accessory from Holly I told her I'd think about it and that maybe I'd look to see if it is cheaper online. She told me to go buy it there then and walked away and ignored me after that. Keep in mind that the two items I came in to purchase (a sink and faucet) I was prepared to purchase from them and came to about $1000. It was only the price of a $120 sink accessory that I said I'd think about and of course the garbage disposal which I didn't plan on buying there anyway and didn't even think they sold. Oh and when I got home, I looked up the sink online and it was about $150 less expensive at Lowe's. Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

GPS in Edison has a beautiful showroom packed with beautiful, well matched items. Problem is, you can't get anyone to help you. You walk in, even when there are only a few customers in the showroom, all employees suddenly look very busy on their computers. If you make eye contact with them, they look away. If you approach them, and ask for help, they say "someone will be with you in a moment", but help never comes. This has happened to me 3 times now, I walked out after waiting 15-20 minutes for help, and 3 strikes you're out. I'll take my business somewhere that cares about customers, and don't see them as a nuisance. read more

This is the worst seller I ever encounted. The morning before the Hurrican Sandy came, I found that they had sump pump available and went to buy two. Their price was way much higher than usual. A greeedy way to profit from other's emergency need. But I am ok with that since I needed it at that point. I asked the staff whether I could return it if I end up don't need it. He told me that it is ok as long as I do not open the box. That afternoon, my property manage called me back and told me that he would take care of the sump pump issue ( I had difficulty to reach him before that, only left message), so we ended up don't need those two sump pumps. I went to the store the next morning with the unopened boxes of sump pump and receipts, and notice that they still have quite some sump pumps left. Guess what, they charged me 20% restocking fee, mentioned that if they return it, they will be charged by manufacturer by the same, which is a completely bull. I don't know how is my not buying it hurts their business. It is basically the same as that they don't sell the pumps to me to start with. How can they transfer a potential loss to me even if they really may got charged by the manufacturer? I agree a potential charge of fee for their transaction, but paying more than $70 for returning a non-opened item is not the right way. I will simply aviod this kind of pprofit first, customer later company at all cost. Yes, they got my $70 or so, but it will be the last one they will ever get from me or any of my friends. read more

Just to make sure that all readers of GPS's "alternative facts" know, none of what GPS has written as the situation is accurate. The order was not made by my contractor, but by GPS salesperson. When I received the wrong order, I even accepted that and had to pay for a replacement, which I did. And yet again, it was a wrong order. I wanted to return the orders, as it was GPS and their vendor (not manufacturer's mistake), but was denied. I was then told that it would be replace in one to two weeks, and almost a month later, still no replacement. Yet this was happening on my dollar, as I had to reschedule workmen continuously and pay for it!!! Finally, I asked for my money back. I then found another vendor who had the correct piece of cabinetry sent to me in 48 hours!!!!! I then spoke to this store, from the salesperson that helped me, to the manager, and finally wrote and called the President for more then 7 months, and not even a response. Don't be fooled by these "alternative facts." Just because their social media manager states things, does not make it true. Yet, just another example of an unethical and improperly run business. Again, I was forced to give 1 star to get this published, when I should be seeking legal advice. read more
