First, the robot doesn't want to connect with a live person, gives you wrong or close to options but 20 mins later, I have to hang up. I just had a couple of questions about an item before I go and purchase it from them... never got to speak to anyone and called Home Depot, got my questions answered and I'm on my way for pick up. We have spent an extraordinary amount of money in both of these stores. We rarely need to make returns, but we just had a recent instance of having to return 5 bags of polymeric sand because we decided to have the job done by a contractor. I saved the receipt and my husband went to the store to return the sand. It was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience to learn that there is a 90 day window on returns (with receipt) and NO EXCEPTIONS ARE GRANTED FOR A RESELLABLE ITEM such as polymeric sand! I shop at Lowe's all the time and, like Home Depot, find the experience often overwhelming. Sure, locating appliances and lumber is fairly obvious but what happens when you find yourself in need of a picture hook without a Sherpa and a base camp? When you can snag one, most of the associates are helpful in at least pointing you in the right direction when exploring their lost continent expanse but most of the time they're as disoriented as you are when it comes to haystacks and needles outside of their department. Thank God for their app. Every SKU is traceable right down to the aisle and bin number. Go in for finishing nails and finish in five minutes or less with your score in hand. I frequently roll my eyes at most apps but when it comes to big box home improvement, they're essential at cutting the big box down to size. Five easy stars for an app that's a lifesaver. read more

I come here to buy plants. There's always a large variety of plants available. The garden center is pretty large and they sell a variety of items for whatever your gardening needs are. We usually buy our Christmas tree here as well. read more

It's rare that I find myself in this Lowe's, but I went today and I was really impressed with their Garden section and how well stocked it was with beautiful, healthy trees and plants. They even had staff on hand to readily offer help, offer advice and answer questions which I find hard to come by in big box stores these days. And so I got more garden supplies and a few other things I needed. I will say that they aren't enforcing social distancing (everyone can enter the store at the same time without waiting outside on any line) and it was a bit crowded. Lines were moving fast which means store management had the foresight to have enough people on registers. Love to see it! read more

This store has a billion employees but no help. Have been here twice and had the same experience. Talk about a waste of time. The people who work at this store seem to think that their job is to avoid work. Hire some honest hardworking people please. I really wonder if they treat everyone that way. This is a substandard Lowes; the latest indignity is that their registers went down a 1/2 hour before closing time on Christmas Eve. anybody wanting to buy anything was just SOLl. Very sad how the store has devote... this was the first one that opened in the area followed by East Brunswick and Woodbridge stores. How was Lowes you ask? Lowes was filled with a multitude of disappointment after disappointment ; all steaming around poor customer Customer Service, which includes no service what so ever. Look, if I could get up, get dressed and drive all the way to Lowes as high as gas prices are, you would think I could at least get someone to assist me. Well that didn't happen, can you believe that when I spotted a Lowes associate and asked if someone was working in that department his reply was, "Umm No, I don't know who is working here, I'm sorry." Can you believe that was his response? The correct response should have been, give me a minute I'll get someone to assist you. As an employee if you don't know, you attempt to find the answer, never tell a customer you don't know, apologize for not knowing and then walking away with no attempt to find assistance. Long gone are the days of stellar customer service or a society where people value their jobs. I'm so disappointed in the lack of quality service at Lowes. I'm only giving them 3 stars because the day before I had a better experience at the Union location and I know it's not all employees, however overall I've had more bad experiences than memorable good experience. I had 3 gift cards I wanted to redeem at Lowe's that I had gotten at another Lowe's a few towns away. Apparently their stores do not communicate with each other due to some computer system update. The Lowe's in east Brunswick could find me and the gift cards through my drivers license but couldn't redeem them. They wanted me to go back to the original store and that was all they could do. I went through 3 managers as I told each of them that was unacceptable. The highest ranking manager walked away from me. The other 2 managers were astounded by his poor customer service and support. They persevered and eventually I got them redeemed. I will never go to Lowe's again and never let them give you a gift card , get it back to your credit card read more

I have a generally rosy optimistic view of businesses especially as they go through hiring problems since their generally low wages (ironic for a nation steeped in a primary global advantage of plentiful material, but on 2nd thought, that doesn't mean decent wages, but anyways) thus hiring shortages thus higher turnover thus lower customer service and burnout or plain departures by who weren't dissuaded by the low wages, so when I give this 1-star here, it was a serious fail, and it was. I came to its customer service desk with a question about how to locate an item. You'd think it'd been simple like how Home Depot has an item locator with store zones clearly organized. I've been to this Lowe's many times for the 10+y since its construction and its generally sparse parking lot is a sign its competitiveness has always flagged, so I suppose the rent is cheap due to this more backwaters location with an entrance oriented away from the major roads. But none of that pales in comparison to their deceptive to customer-blaming customer "service". First, there's no line queueing area so it merely after the 3rd person spills into the whole-store entry walkway which is probably intentional as they'd rather there be no line, period. Waiting 20mins with only 2 customers ahead is simply maddening especially in pandemic times when no one social distances anymore. Alas, hopefully without getting a respiratory disease while waiting on these inept staff, I got to spectate 1 customer trying to return a vanity but told after 10m just to stand aside so some back-of-office-sleeping-on-the-job staffer who might not exist can come up to examine the item's veracity. Ok, cute, and then another return of lumber which somehow warranted FOUR (yes, lucky number 4 ... that's a dig, but anyways) staffers to all peer around one computer terminal with 2 not even wearing masks and one whose mask dangled off his nose so that was brilliant. Poor customer. Then I went up to staffer Aaron and her manager Rosemary looming over her thus likely a junior associate a.k.a. new staffer (times are hard as fewer want to work minimum wage). I asked about the item location and the staffer put up her first barrier which was to deny the item's existence. I said the item is definitely marketed on their website so then she acted to pull out a paper reference. Her manager gave her the long eye as if she was taking too long, but she was. She said some excuse about not being locatable but I presented the evidence that it existed. She then asked her manager as if I wasn't there if she should try to accomodate and her manager said "No, don't bother" and then she walked to the back as if to do something but then came back out and said that I was to blame for the item not existing and stood silently. Pretty incredible, so I didn't even speak and walked out intentionally equally rudely. When a business has such deep morale, competency, and staffing problems with managers clearly explicitly to blame, I wish the business be closed and the staffers re-routed in our capitalist system elsewhere. Truly a terrible time. Little wonder Amazon's taken over since customer service truly is relegated to the robots and automated web form processes with stores better off as mere distribution centers to further lower prices. read more

What a waste of space, Lowe's a perfect place to go before Thanksgiving to get aggrevated with useless staff (if you can find one !!!) with no help in sight. Only people i could see are customers wondering around because there's no one to help them. Lowes had 4 opportunities to get it right and they failed miserably. An order was placed for a cooktop stove and oven. After multiple follow ups by us Lowe's realizes neither items are in stock. 10 weeks have gone by, we are in the middle of renovations. However we start over because things happen and we want this to work. Received email confirmation and phone call confirmation that items were in the warehouse and would be delivered and installed. There were 4 different times where no one showed up and no one called to explain. This required 4 different days of PTO to be taken. Time wasted. We make the decision to go to the store to cancel delivery and installation, only to discover that the cooktop is in the building sitting on the shelf. No one bothered to communicate this information. We take possession of our item and proceed to get our refund on delivery and installation. This requires 3 people to figure out the refund because everyone is confused. I'm finished with Lowes on any future projects. From, (I believe her name was EJ), at customer service, to Arthur who helped with a carpet quote, (who was on his day off shopping with his wife and child), to Elijah who dragged over a scissor lift to get me two light fixtures I wanted and to Ashley who helped me pick out carpet for my living room and made purchasing it nice and easy. Overall bad experience on most occasions. One register open on a Friday. No self check out counters. Only thing consistent here is the horrible customer service. I only come here if I can't get something at Home Depot. The only saving grace here is online pickup. They have a separate counter for online pickup and it's not that bad when someone is there. Expect to wait long to check out and assistance in the store is nonexistent. At times rude and snarky. Come with low expectations, then you might be surprised. read more

I called corporate for help and they used the word , "flabbergasted" after trying to get me help for days with no progress. I am moving into a new home doing renovations which are time sensitive and already stressed as it is. This store unfortunately made it incredibly worse. I finally got through to the store and they set up the return pick-up only to have sent the pickup person to my old address out of state! If I didn't have a helpful line of credit at Lowe's, I would never shop here. Here are just a few example ls of my issues but I have never had a good experience at this Lowes. Order online for in-store pick: I have made roughly 8 online purchases for in-store pickup in the past. Never once have the items actually been ready when I arrive, even after receiving an email confirming that the items are ready. Online order for truck delivery: I ordered lumber for truck delivery on May 5th, today is the 29th and I still haven't received any word on when the items will be delivered. I contacted customer service 5 days ago. They said they would look into it but I heard nothing. Restocking Forget about asking items to be restocked while your in the store because no one will help you. The other day The rubber mulch palette was empty so I, went up to the customer service desk who said there was another palette available in the top shelves. After 30 minutes of waiting for a forklift to arrive i just left empty handed. Customer service desk Staff at the customer service service desk is always unpleasant, no matter how nice you try to be to them. This Lowes gives other Lowes a bad name. In general I don't do reviews of retail stores, but we had such a helpful associate I wanted to give him a shout out. This location (Piscataway, NJ) needs to improve associate placement and numbers---I always have to hunt for someone whenever I need assistance. Monday night (10-10) night was no different. We needed some help in the lighting department and nobody was to be found. My husband had to go find someone (so that was annoying). However, the person he found was exceptional in his knowledge, friendliness, and interest in making sure we understood our options. So thank you to DENNIS! I needed to mount wood on my work trailer. I made a list of materials and hardware, and shopped online. I compared the major warehouses that carry lumber and found that Lowes of Piscataway had everything I needed in stock. I signed up for the ProServices account which gave me 10% discount for allowing Lowes to have my email and phone number so they can spam and text me to death with deal alerts on crap I will never have a use for. I conveniently paid by credit card online and printed my receipt which said all Items would be ready for same day pickup but didn't reference a time. I figured I had better give them a few hours to pick my seven item order. About four hours later I arrive at the Piscataway Lowes store and park near the lumber exit. As I enter the store I see a large desk to my right with a giant sign that says "ProServices." No one is working at the desk. The closest employee is the cashier and she pages the person assigned to the ProService desk. A young lady arrives and looks at my paperwork. Then she tells me to go to customer service on the other side of the store. Makes no sense to me but I begin the trek. I am assisted by Emma who finds my order on the computer and apologies that her short handed staff has not had time to pick the order. I offer to pick it myself and she pages someone to assist me except they never answer the page or arrive before I complete picking it myself. A gaggle of hardware department employees are chattering while I go through my list and count out 25 of this bolt and 50 of this washer. None of them ask if I need help. When I get to the lumber department there was no site of employees at all. So I got to pull 2" x 8" x 16 ft long pressure treated boards by myself. This was one junk pile of boards with many having edges that didn't finish at the saw mill. There was also an aqua colored powder all over the wood and I had no idea if it was the chemicals used in treating the wood or something foreign that spilled on them. So with my boards selected I pushed the cart from the rear left corner of the store all the way to the front right entrance while dodging customer and slaloming past dozens of displays set up in the front isle with a cart of protruding 16 foot long boards. Once back at customer service, Emma completes my transaction, thanks me for helping myself and tells me to call her personally next time to make certain that the order is ready. She turned out to be the only positive part of my experience at Lowes. read more

In January I purchased a large appliance that works well but found a scratch, that may have been done accidentally by the installer. Lowe's promised that they would have it exchanged and the installers would contact me. Its been two months. After multiple calls to Lowes and to the installer directly, the installer finally called in March and left a message. I called back and left a message and now I am waiting again for a return call. I have no intentions on playing "phone tag" with this installer and I am not calling Lowe's again as they've been unhelpful during this entire purchase. I hope that Lowe's management reads complaints and realize that contracting incompetent Installers and employees will hurt their business. read more

Employees have an attitude. They don't really greet you in the morning when you come in. Some of the guys that work there have this really confrontational (and creepy!) look on their faces. One of the guys (an African American dude in his 30s) keeps asking me if I need help, but I think he's doing it out of spite (I go there kinda often, and apparently he has a problem with that LOL). Also, one morning, it took two cashiers 15 seconds to realize I needed to be ringed up, while I was standing there awkwardly, waiting for one of them to get the message. Also, pretty much most of the employees have this look on their face like they don't want to be there. Customer service is a crucial part of the shopping experience, in my opinion. I have always gone to home depot and this was my first experience at a lowes...not impressed at all There was nobody around to help me, or answer any of my questions or provide guidance. I was looking for bathroom vanities and I honest to god was willing able and ready to buy today. I get there, nobody is around, and almost all of the vanities they have in their isles are in the box? What if i wanted to see one like set up ? Does anybody think at this place? Poor Customer Support. I visited Lowes (Piscataway NJ) on saturday 9/23/17 with my family. The worst and rude customer service provided by "Rudi". I already had mount light and wire (as i had to extend connection from switch) i needed some help about wiring connection and if i had to buy any thing else too. I saw this person "Rudi" and asked for help and he replied with "I can't teach you" i was so shocked for a minute i thought he might be of other department so i said, is it because you're not electrician and he said "I am ELECTRICION but i am not going to teach you"(in this conversation i couldn't see his name). At this point i knew i had to complain this thing to manager, i found him few isles away i got his name and i told him that how rude his attitude was, while i was saying this he started walking in other direction and said do what ever you have to do. I went to manager she was very nice lady, heard my complaint and said she will take action against him, i am writing this just to make sure there was some action taken. With saying all of above another employer (jerome/irome: not sure about name) helped me with my same question and guess what i had to buy another thing for installation which completed my setup.
