Even pre-pandemic you'd be hard pressed to find help in this store. They seemed understaffed, but even more so now. 3 stars is due to the fact that they usually have the products I go in there for (simple things like furnace filters) and if you ARE lucky enough to get ahold of a knowledgeable person who works there, I find that they do try to be helpful. I havent encountered any rude employees. They're just scarce! I bought an outdoor plant there yesterday. Had to do my own research because despite the cashier paging a sales associate in the garden department, no one came. The outdoor plants looked fine but the indoor ones were dry and raggedy looking. read more

I choose curbside pickup in which led to no response when I arrived. I went inside after waiting 25 minutes on "hold" only to find out they weren't doing it. This Home Depot is close to my house; when I moved to Piscataway, I've had to make trips to Home Depot every few days. I've been to Home Depots before in Florida and Maryland, so I had an idea of what to expect. The store contains everything that you would usually find from a Home Depot. I haven't checked out the gardening section because I'm not that keen on plants. My apartment already had appliances, so there was no need to look for washers, dryers, or fridges. Negatives: -There are four self check-out stations, but inevitably one of them will be broken and one or two others will take forever to reset after finishing with a customer. I asked a nearby employee for help with checking out, but he conveniently ignored me. -From these reviews, it seems that this location's customer service is lacking in general. I asked Tom for advice on what to buy and how to fix a headboard and he was very polite and helpful. Look for him when he's working here. Fortunately, I don't need to come here too often. Otherwise, I'd probably pick up other frustrations that others have voiced. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service. Ordered a week ago online for pick up. An hour later they called and said they can't find my item. Website showed 18 available. Tried again today for different items for curbside pick up. 4 hours, then 25 minutes on the phone to find out what's up, and they disconnect. Went there and got all my items myself and checkout in 20 minutes. Don't offer a service you aren't actually going to Provide! Home Depot is one of my favorite place to shop for my house. Its just like Lowes Home Improvement, or ACE hardware store. They are all the same to me. This one especially has a huge parking lot! A little too big I think. Staff are great! Always helpful and they always have someone ready to greet you as you walk in the door! The place is dummy proof because it has everthing you need labeled in each aisle! Cant miss it! If not, theres a button somewhere that you can press in every aisle and someone will come in and help! I have to say the manager (excuse the spelling) Kaleel, saves this Home Depot location of a 1 star review. He is exceptional and from reading the other reviews it seems Home Depot needs to weed out people to have more employees like him.. I had been searching for a new front door using the Home Depot ap and found the one I wanted. It said there were 2 in stock in south Plainfield so instead of buying on the ap I went directly to the store to look at the door in person. While looking for the door, I noticed a lot of their stock had dings and scratches all over them. Either way could not find the door I was looking for so asked one of the guys sitting in the door department. He searched high and low and could not find the door so told me he could place an order for it, they will search the entire store and pick the item for me and if not order another one for me. So I purchased it and went home. The next day I tried calling to see if the door was in and the phone just kept ringing. So I sent a text to the customer service chat in the Home Depot ap. That person ended up getting through to the store and she found out that they had cancelled my order. This is unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They never reached out to even say they cancelled it which is the messed up part. Kaleel was very nice and called around to other stores and tried to make the situation right. I was on the phone for awhile and he said that if he could get through to the other stores he would give me a call back. Which he did. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have ever received (or not received, as the case was). Just a collection of people who do not care about those in their store, who do not care if anyone finds what they need, who apparently have unbelievable job security because they're just fine with allowing customers to whither and wait for an hour while they aimlessly and fruitlessly search for items in their own store. My husband and I bought a brand-new, $600 dishwasher at this store. Pete, the salesman, was great! Unfortunately, he was the ONLY great part of this whole ridiculous experience! We had the dishwasher put in by three Home Depot workers who were Russian and they didn't understand much English. They ran the dishwasher and we noticed a loud, high-pitched whistling noise coming from the appliance. I expressed my concern but the men said the dishwasher needed to "break in". Two weeks later, our dishwasher is still making the same sound. General Electric sent a tech out to look at it. Apparently it needs a new pump. We refused the new pump because this is a brand-new item. So we called Home Depot, spoke to Mike, one of the assistant managers, and told him the problem and that we wanted a replacement dishwasher. Mike told us that we had to have the dishwasher brought back before we could even order another new one, so yesterday he sent over two guys that were supposed to uninstall the appliance and take it back to the store. They arrived with no tools, no nothing. They said that they were under the impression that the dishwasher was already uninstalled and that they were just going to pick it up and take it to the store. While they were using a quarter, a butter knife and a few of my husband's tools, my husband walked in from work and called Mike and told thin that the guys had no tools in order to disconnect the dishwasher. Mike told my husband that he didn't know who was there trying to uninstall the dishwasher. My husband then told Mike, "Look, why don't I just send these guys back to the store, they aren't equipped to do this. We will keep the dishwasher, you order us another new one, and when the new one comes in your guys can just bring it here and exchange one for the other." Mike agreed. Unfortunately, the guys couldn't hook up a valve properly so, even though we have a brand-new dishwasher, we can't use it. And today, someone was supposed to come here to replace the valve between 1 and 5 pm. John Rivera showed up at 5, looked at the problem, and told me he couldn't help. He also said that we'd need to pay someone at Home Depot to replace the valve. Tonight my husband was on the phone with Frank, the store's other assistant manager. He assured him that this was going to be taken care of, but unfortunately we no longer have any faith in the capability of any of Home Depot's management or workers. We had also left the CEO, Frank Blake, a message. This morning we got a call from Larry, I guess he works for the CEO. We told Larry we want 3 things to happen: Refund my husband's credit card; fix the valve; and uninstall the dishwasher. Lets see if they can do any of that right! We are now buying an appliance from a store that knows what they're doing. And where was the CEO? Why didn't HE call us? Update: Home Depot offered us the dishwasher for free. We said no and bought one at Lowe's. I am waiting for Home Depot to come uninstall and take away this joke of a dishwasher (hopefuly they won't do any more damage and will bring their tools this time!) Latest update: Home Depot sent a plumber over to replace the valve that their boys broke. He did a great job, and Home Depot paid for it. And then Frank came and uninstalled the dishwasher. (Took his sweet time coming over, but he finally made it.) Both the dishwasher and Home Depot are out of our house (and our hair) forever!! GOOD RIDDANCE! My God! All this just over a dishwasher! Not much to say. I feel bad not going to a local hardware store but they always have what I need. Also, you can't beat the financing. I did my shed, floor in the basement and carpet all for 0%. Free money is always good in my book. On the down side Home Depot has terrible lumber. It is very low quality. You have to go through the piles to find the good pieces. Terrible customer service. No one really cares here, from the front 'customer service' to the lumber section. Even the manager whom I've had to escalate issues with orders to do not care about their store's customers. Just a couple days, I saw an older gentleman attempting to return his chainsaw. The chain kept falling off he insisted. So the bigger lady at the 'customer service' gets her tools out and teaches this poor customer how to reinstall the chain in a condescending manner. Clearly, he was upset and didn't want the item but she thought it was her duty to teach and repair items at the 'customer service' desk. I've always been loyal HD customer, but switched to Lowes. I sat like a jerk for 45 minutes waiting for someone to cut a piece of plywood. I finally chased down a worker who told me after a very noble effort that they didn't have anyone to work the cutting center. The managers weren't qualified to cut it so I told them I'm going to Lowe's. I largely blame management for this and will not be bringing my business back in the future. read more

For the most part all of the Home Depots are pretty much the same. For this general area, however, this location seems to be one of the more well stocked out of the bunch. If you are making a run for a really common item and are not to picky about a substitute then this will not matter -- however, if this matters it might be worth the extra mile or two to come here if it is a little bit out of your way. read more

Bought a washer that turned out to be a piece of junk. Won't accept a return (only had it 2 months). Keep transferring me to extensions that never get answered. I bought a window to replace my old one. I put it in my car and two days later, when my contractor opened the box, he noticed a small hairline break in the window. Another amazing experience at Home Depot. I came to this HD to have some help with my wood blinds I ordered. Initially my blinds fit into my windows but the top part where it locks in the bracket was a tad too long. Thankfully, I came to this wonderful location in South Plainfield, NJ and was immediately greeted by your amazing associate Jackie. She took me under her wing to guide me to the correct area and reassured me that they could get the job done. Both Peter and Derrick were fantastic! Without any charge, they took both my blinds and shaved the side a bit so it can fit perfectly in my windows. Jackie, Peter and Derrick completely went out of their way to provide exceptional customer service and I am forever thankful! I don't live in this area but I recommend anyone who does to please visit this location as you will always feel at home and appreciated. :) read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!! Online orders and custom orders are a NIGHTMARE. I have purchased quite a lot with this specific store and every single online order and custom order has been messed up. There is no cohesiveness with the staff members and the pro desk staff complains about the front desk staff to customers, how UNPROFESSIONAL! My orders have had missing items, been broken by workers, and one of my orders was even given to someone else! I have been trying to contact the store in regards to a custom order and no one has given me an accurate date as to when I will be receiving it. It has been almost 2 months and still no shower door. I would advise going to Lowes but most importantly DO NOT go to this store. You will also be walking around for a while trying to find a staff member to help you in the store as well. I recently purchased sandpaper 220 GRIT 4 PK and realized that upon opening the package, one sheet was already used =(( A few weeks prior I had the same experience with an alleged "new" sanding power tool that I again realized (only once I opened the package at home) that it had already been used previously; nonetheless I began a major sanding project of over 30 kitchen cabinets and doors, and the sanding tool stopped working properly within a week's time of me making the purchase =((( there were several instances of the same which have all created delays and unexpected surprises for me (and multiple visits to the store), when you are trying to complete a major Do-it-yourself project, that I did not appreciate. Home Depot please inspect any returned merchandise that is restocked I was very dissatisfied and will no longer place reliance on The Home Depot to ensure that my purchased items are 1. not used and 2. working properly, before leaving the store. read more
