This review is for The Hemlocks: Old West Texas Smokehouse pit bbq & steaks Brisket was pretty good but outrageously priced. I showed interest in the Bbq sauce sold there: 'Rufus Teague'. I thought I recognized it & asked if it was sold in the grocery store & was told no, which is a complete lie & then bought some & was charged $12 for 1 single bottle!! Found out later it's sold at Grocery Outlet for a fraction of that cost! Disappointing. I grew up in Texas & know excellent brisket. Won't be back. read more

The ambiance and service are a cut above. They are hands down the most decadent restaurant in boundary county. I would consider it rustic and refined at the same time. The food is phenomenal. We ate at the Hemlocks RV Lodge while camping there. The brisket was wonderful, best we've had in a long time. CJ was very pleasant and provided excellent service, even helping us connect to the free wifi & laundry. Wish we had more time to stay longer! read more

Omg this place. It made me believe in love again. The service was amazing they waitress kept my glass full of beer and the food was top notch. Malory was absolutely amazing. She laughed at all my crappy jokes and her menu recommendations were on par. Great place for date night or a Saturday when you're trying to score some points with your bae. First thing is first... if you decide on the Prime Rib make sure it is on the early side of dinner service IF you want rare or medium. If you order it later, it will be well done, after resting. Still good as well done, but to be honest if you are spending $45 on prime rib you are not looking for it to be well done. So ask your waitress the status before you order. That being said the pork chop is phenomenal! Flavorful & cooked to perfection! My son had the Bison slider, it should easily please any youngster. It was well cooked, and mild, sweet in flavor . The steamed Clams were a STAR! Highly recommend them!!! If you enjoy clams, it is a MUST! Stuffed mushrooms were good in flavor but could have used just a tad longer in the oven. It was refreshing to see a chef in the area that isn't afraid to season with spices. The food is not bland. His use of herbs was appreciated. All three of the desserts that we had were very well done. The carrot cake was literally the best we have ever had. If you like carrot cake even a little go for it! A very interesting experience! Out of the way is an understatement, and it comes with an atmosphere that is very nice and a twist on the menu that was very much approved of by the group I was with. Great food with a diverse selection from the wild mountaintops to the deep blue sea, everything was deliciously prepared and reasonably priced. I will be going back! read more
