I'm visiting from out of town and decided to stop in here for dinner. I ended up getting chicken wings and a small pizza. The chicken wings tasted old like they've been in the freezer too long. And the pizza was nothing to write about. I couldn't really even eat it. I ate the toppings off of it cause the crust wasn't really good. I will say the service was OK, but I don't know that I'd ever go back. read more

Service was friendly and quick. The smokehouse burger is worth going back for. They have a good selection of draft beer.

This is a bummer, but my experience last night at the Rusty Moose/Goat Mountain Pizza was a disappointment. Rusty Moose was pretty full, so my family and I sat on the Goat Mountain Pizza side. In the beginning, we had good service, and things were moving along. After that, it went downhill. We waited more than 60 minutes for 2 of our meals. We had to ask for napkins and silverware. The last meal, which was a Mediterranean chicken salad, took almost 2 hrs to get. We had to take it to go. My fries were also supposed to be garlic fries, but i received regular fries. The place looked good and was clean. Awesome decor, but the staff they had working dropped the ball, and we don't think we will be going back there for a long time. read more

We were in the Canadian Rockies and decided to take a day trip to Idaho. We ended up in Bonner's Ferry. The downtown consists of two main roads where you can only find 2cor 3 restaurants. The brewery restaurant was closed, and we didn't care for pizza today, so by process of elimination we ended up at the Rusty Moose! Upon entering, we were cheerfully greeted by a cute blond young lady who told us to sit wherever we wanted. Three of the five tables were occupied, so we sat at one of the two remaining. The two pages menu had ample choices for lunch. I chose the grilled chicken sandwich with mushroom soup. My husband had the mushroom swiss burger. Our meals were delicious and the mushroom soup was the best that I ever tasted. I also got a Huckleberry Lemonade to go that was made to order. I didn't know if I would like it, but it was also delicious. Upon leaving, the owner Dan, stopped by to greet us. He took us to the back bar room. It was gigantic! He said that his grandfather started the business in the 1940's. If you are ever in Northern Idaho, make it a point to come here! read more

Out exploring and stopped downtown Bonners to eat, saw the RMT was open so we wandered in and were so happy we did! Wanted to love this place because I love Bonners Ferry and I'm always looking for good restaurants there but, I liked it, didn't love it. I expected the place to be supercute and it's not really cute. Service was friendly but not particularly attentive, and they were not crowded. We were told by our server that she would refill our empty drinkswhen she brought our food, and she did, about 15 minutes later when we were finishing up! My son and I both got the Thursday special which was a chicken fried steak. The dinner came with a nice toasted roll, an underwhelming side salad and a chicken fried steak with mashed taters. Food came out fairly quickly and was microwave inferno hot, which made the lack of drink refills a fairly critical issue. The chicken fried steak was fairly good but the gravy was not particularly tasty and gave both my son and I wicked heartburn, which could have been because we ate everything (lol) along with some ingredient in the mediocre gravy. Specials were 16.95 which was not posted on grease board. Seemed a little expensive but was a good portion of food. Overall, I'd rate this establishment a C+ or a B- and I'd go back if there wasn't another option but I will not be including this establishment in my next day trip plans to Bonners Ferry. read more

I visited The Rusty Moose for my first time ever yesterday and loved it. Great vibe. Ended up chatting with the owner at the bar for longer then I thought I would. Super nice guy. I gave him my business card and he was so impressed he said he'd keep it forever . It's a tiny piano. Look for it behind the bar. I only wish I'd come later. It was early and I typically like discovering bars when they're hopping. That's on me though. As a tourist simply passing through, I couldn't stay that late. If I lived in Bonners Ferry, this would be my go to drinking hole. It's perfect. Go there now. read more

The food and service is great. Really like the atmosphere. Was greeted as soon as I came through the door and seated and served promptly with a smile. Lots of locals in the bar and you can tell it is a favorite. If you haven't tried their pizza yet I recommend it as well. Nothing but good experiences at the Rusty moose. If you like dirty loud bars with bad food, this is the place for you. Our waitress was very nice, but the garlic fries will be on your breath for about 4-5 business days, and take about the same time to get out to you. Burgers are ok, but way overpriced. read more

This review is only one star because the waitress was very sweet and kind. The two owners that run this establishment should not be in customer service. They are hot tempered, sarcastic, and overly rude do not care about your well-being. They just wanna slap the food on the table and get your money. I saw the bartender multiple times drinking behind the bar, which was one of the owners. The other owner was the cook. I'm assuming the waitress was a family friend or their daughter. I witnessed with another person the table not far from us was getting treated horribly. They had been waiting for an hour for just hamburgers and fries. When one of them went up and nicely mention something to the waitress, she ran in the back to see what the problem was. Not long after that the bartender and the cook talked and then the bartender started talking poorly to the drunks sitting at the bar about the situation(loud enough to where the couple could hear them). Saying, "it's the guy sitting right behind you..." WHO DOES THAT...not a professional business owner. They finally got their burgers and by the looks on their faces it was not what they had intended to eat. The gentleman said that his burger was dry and burnt. As if it was made in a very big hurry or left on the grill forgotten. As all of this was going on there was also another gentleman that had been waiting more than an hour for his food also. They tried to make it up to him by bagging it up and giving it to him but he didn't even want it at that point because he had complained so much to get his food. He walked out. I heard the business owners talking about how staff was just so hard to come by these days, if that's true why was the tavern 2 blocks down the road completely packed to the brim and full of helpful staff. All I see here are excuses and horrible attitude's. This experience, I'm sure for me and everybody else in the bar will definitely keep customers from coming back. read more

I've been to quite a few places to eat and/or just stop in for an alcoholic drink. This place is something else indeed. After walking in and sitting down, I'm assuming he's the owner based on other reviews, he started to bring us a few menus. I was trying to be nice and save him the trip over and said, "we won't need menus we're just having drinks, thank you though". I ordered two draft beers, this gentlemen had one glass in each hand while standing behind the bar next to the beer taps. He coughed...not a quick cough, one of those deep you shouldn't be around people coughs...again his hands were full of beer glasses, this individual did not cover his mouth, aim for his shirt or shoulder, the direction of his cough was aimed at all the beer taps. The second cough was also aimed in the same direction, except this time our beer glasses were being held higher as he coughed. Not sure about others, but I prefer my beer to be cough-free. I was ready to leave after watching what had just happened, gets better though. This person brings our beer to our table with what we considered a "negative energy". This person looks me dead in the eyes and says, "this will be the last time I bring you beer, if you want more, come to the bar and get it yourself". I was in a bit of a shock to hear that, first time for everything. I left a $5 dollar bill for the two beers even though we never touched the beers. We walked out and began heading back to where we came from. I turned back around and there was a lady, assuming the other owner from the reviews, she was watching us while leaning against the building, arms crossed and had a confused/negative look on her face. I wanted to explain why we left so I called the bar to explain what had happened. I ended up talking to a waitress that seemed nice and understood. We've had food from this place before this excitement happened. Other reviews rave about the food, the food I remember wasn't that great, it's okay. This review is meant to make others aware of the type of situation you might be walking into. Hopefully it's not the same for others. Based on older reviews, sounds on point and what to expect from this place. Can't say that we'll return to this establishment, there are other small businesses to support in the area that quite frankly deserve the business more. read more

The wait here is insane, just for some fish and a siracha burger, 45 minutes!! The food was moderately good, the fish was very basic and the burger was alright. I would give 0 stars if I could. I ordered a steak MR with a special sauce. They were out of everything except French fries as a side. I asked for a double side salad. They turned my steak into something so burned I could not eat. I took one bite. After sending it back they argued it was a good steak, it was a hockey puck. They said they would only take off what the steak cost. So I had to pay $12 for two side salads, and had to pay for the sauce to go on the steak that was inedible. When I was confused they didn't comp my entire meal, she popped off how she didn't appreciate my attitude. Luckily, Apparently, the attitude at this restaurant is well known in town. What a great find! We were headed to Canada to get a stamp on our passports when we happened upon this quaint little town. The rusty moose has been here since 1903! Been in the family that owns it now and was our bartender and server for our lunch. We had delicious sandwiches and fries with personality everywhere. We went in tentatively as it appeared from the front door to be more of an ice cream parlor. We were glad we did. I had a perfectly cooked medium rare ribeye & my husband had a perfectly cooked piece of wild salmon. That doesn't happen often. Usually one of us gets a perfectly cooked steak OR the other gets perfectly cooked fish. Service was friendly & attentive and we were quite comfortable in a small booth in the front. There isn't a lot of moose decor which is the only thing I would count as a negative, but I'm kind of a moose freak so, that's just me. read more

Very good food. We had the Junkyard fried ribs as an appetizer, ribeye dinner, tempura prawns, grilled Sockeye salad, and buffalo chicken sandwich. All were excellent, except for the ribeye. It was cooked fine, but the cut of meat was gristly. Will return to try something else! read more

This review only addresses customer service, not food quality, and specifically, only the business owner. You see, my son and I just visited for the first time and I asked for a beer they didn't happen to have. The very nice waitress (for real, very kind) recommended an alternative that I never had. I asked if I could try it. From across the room, the aforementioned owner (identified as the owner by the waitress) exclaimed that, "samples come in 16 and 20 ounce containers." He went on to say that they don't do samples and suggested that I not waste his (their) time. [I literally just sat down, never been to this establishment before, and in fact, my first time to Bonner's Ferry]. His communication was 1) clearly loud enough to be heard by others, 2) condescending and 3) intentionally sarcastic. Needless to say, my son and I left, walked down the street to the Mugsy Tavern, and had a superb dinner, accompanied by top-flight customer service ($53.25). I'm hoping the owner was just having a bad day and ultimately regrets the way he treated us. Will let the owner's reply to this post speak for itself. Ball's in your court sir. read more

We were just visiting from California and thought we'd stop in. The place seemed a little too empty, so we were a little worried. We were wrong, because the emptiness had nothing to do with the taste of the food. I had the Jack Daniels Burger and thought it was excellent. My wife had a bacon burger and said the same, and my son had a vegan burger and said it was flavorful. The best vegan burger he's had in a while. Anyway, great place to eat. Super disappointed with the staff. Went to this restaurant because I saw they had good reviews. Ordered a chicken blt wrap with no tomatoes because I'm super allergic. My wrap finally came out, but unfortunately, had tomatoes all over it. After saying "NO TOMATOES!" I notified my waitress that I'm super allergic and I can't eat it. She didn't apologize for messing up my order and took it to the back. Came back a min later saying they made a new wrap with no tomatoes. Dealing with waitress that have lied in the past I knew I had to check. All over my wrap there were tomato seeds and juices, clearly she doesn't understand what allergic means. In the end I couldn't eat what was suppose to be a "new wrap" and still had to pay for their mess up. Maybe if they were a little more polite and apologetic I would give them a better review but clearly they don't care about customer service. read more
