I've done business with Gene's Camera for a long time. I would only get my prints from here because of quick turnaround and friendly, professional service. That changed yesterday. I've been trying to track down an order for a month. After being promised call backs, and never receiving one, leaving a message and never getting a call back, I finally got a hold of someone who started off helpful and ending up being rude and extremely unprofessional. I was told my order was there, although no one could tell me how long it had been ready. I was given a total and went over to pick it up. I gave 2 stars instead of one because my order was not completed as I had asked for and therefore I was not charged. read more

Very bad experience from someone who has purchased multiple cameras, video equipment, camera carrying bags, etc! Simply wanted some pictures from an old set of 35 mm slides for a retirement party! 30 hour turnaround (16 business hours) and it was not possible to get 2 sets of prints X 25 done with the reason being that only 1 Tech was there today and couldn't guarantee it would be done by 5 pm on the FOLLOWING day! Having a franchise in terms of camera stores is not a good thing! THEIR SERVICE IS TERRIBLE! GO TO CHICAGO, Kalamazoo or Fort Wayne! read more

Seriously, I got some of the best customer service at Gene's Camera I've ever received--in any industry. I recenty shot a friend's wedding, where they wanted to show video at the reception. The staff at Gene's not only recommended the right gear, they made extraordinary efforts to coordinate with the A/V staff at the reception hall to make sure both sets of equipment would work together. Jack at Gene's camera store is so very helpful. I wanted to rent the d800 before purchasing a new camera. He took the time to show me as much as he could & even gave me a card with his business and home number if I had questions. I then returned to buy the D800 from Genes. They matched the online special nikon had, again answered all of the questions I had, & stayed open an hour later than normal (because of a time difference mistake.) I have never experienced such amazing customer service until I visited Gene's Camera Shop. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. I recently rented some video equipment and accessories from Gene's Camera Shop for a party that I was having. I imagined that this would be a very stressful process due to my inexperience with digital video equipment, but I was truly mistaken. The staff at Gene's not only explained to me everything I needed to know but also demonstrated how to set up the equipment and provided me with very helpful tips and information for the rental equipment. A staff member even stayed over nearly 20 minutes after he was "off" just to finish showing me how to use the equipment.
