The Flint Public Library is one of my favorite gems in the Flint community. Everyone should stop…read moreby, visit and pick up a free library card too! Even if you aren't local, it's a cozy and modern place with comfortable seating, several private rooms and an uplifting environment. I love studying here and like to switch up the room or seating area I choose to study at just for a change of pace. They have private rooms and comfortable seating both on the main floor and upstairs level as well as handicap accessible bathrooms and water dispensers on both the floors too. They also have a few outdoor seating spots for outdoor studying too. The few times I interacted with the staff have always been positive experiences, as they are friendly and quick to greet. I really appreciate how this library has a children's learning center too, that you can see on your right hand side as soon as you pass the main entrance. Side note, I have had no issues with the WiFi not working either--important! So if you're looking for a cozy place to study, or have a meeting, or just relax that has plenty of sunlight and open window access, then definitely visit the Flint Public Library!

The children's section on the bottom floor is great! They have a play area, eight computers, a plenty of places to relax and read. The selection is great as well! As a teacher, I'm always on the hunt for new children's books and have been pleasantly surprised each time I visit. I've always found something that was on my list! I mentioned it to both of the staff members, and they just excused it away - "probably worked in a factory"......"hard of hearing".... without asking him to either lower his voice or continue his conversation outside. Cute little local library…read more The people that work here are nice and friendly. If you need something, they will help you locate it. It's a small library, but they have a nice fiction department and tons of DVDs and CDs. The selection of non-fiction isn't as good, but it's getting better. I used to come here a lot when I lived in the area. Now, I stop in from time to time if I'm in Clio. The staff is very helpful when it comes to looking up ancestry information online through Ancestry.com. They're open five days a week. The library could use a few updates, that's all. They have free WiFi and lots of computers for those needing access. If you have kids, they offer children's programs throughout the year, like live animals, story hour and magic shows.

I stopped in, spoke to the librarian and obtained a card. I asked him how to get to a desk that was upstairs and he told me. He also told me that there is another area that I could go to if I wanted a more quit area to work from, and I told him I was ok. But boy oh boy. It was really loud. Phones ringing and people talking on the phone in there. I honestly thought that I was being punked. I will go to another location next time.

Beautiful inside and out, this library makes it easy for your imagination to soar. The staff was so gracious. They are probably used to visitors being amazed by the library. Watching two extremely excited grown adults trying not to run, point and exclaim over is probably normal. (We managed to keep quiet: it's a library!) I browsed the little bookstore and purchased a 1000 piece puzzle from Springbok and two cd's all for just $5.00. There is a children's room right at the front of the entrance. Also at the front of the entrance are a nice selection of mobility aids for those that need a little assistance getting around. The entrance itself is full of beautiful plants, trees and scenic decorations, making the entire vibe very welcoming. There is a computer room in the far back, a heft section of nothing but large print books. The front desk people were very knowledgeable and friendly.

She suggested the Bloomfield Township Public Library and admittedly, I was a bit hesitant at first. However, I was in need of somewhere quiet to connect to video calls and I didn't have much time, so I somewhat begrudgingly headed over. Wow - I was blown away by the beautiful space - both indoor and out. There are plenty of friendly staff members to help answer your questions, obviously tons of books, a large and colorful children's area, an outdoor area, a vending machine area, computer area, plenty of desks, and private rooms for members. I am not a resident or member, so I headed outside to a beautiful terrace and I'm now back for my second day working here because I loved it so much. I haven't looked too deeply, but there also appear to be programs for community members of all ages to partake in - from book clubs and writers groups to knitting groups, summer craft kits, language conversation groups, speed dating with a book, and so much more. I'm literally so impressed with everything this library has to offer. I will be back and this may inspire me to also visit my own library back home. Lesson learned: never question a suggestion from my mom ;)

I must admit up front that I am the president of the Friends of the Flushing Area Library…read more That said, the Flushing Area Library has been and is an important part of the Flushing community. It is one of the most-used libraries in the Genesee District Library system (19 libraries throughout the county) and provides a wide variety of materials and services to users from Flushing, Flushing Township, and Clayton Township. The library provides books, audio-books, DVDs, and more for all interests and levels, from toddlers to octogenarians and beyond. Always check the new fiction and non-fiction selections just inside the front door to see what the staff have picked out -- I find three or four every time I stop in.
