Even if you aren't local, it's a cozy and modern place with comfortable seating, several private rooms and an uplifting environment. I love studying here and like to switch up the room or seating area I choose to study at just for a change of pace. They have private rooms and comfortable seating both on the main floor and upstairs level as well as handicap accessible bathrooms and water dispensers on both the floors too. They also have a few outdoor seating spots for outdoor studying too. The few times I interacted with the staff have always been positive experiences, as they are friendly and quick to greet. I really appreciate how this library has a children's learning center too, that you can see on your right hand side as soon as you pass the main entrance. Side note, I have had no issues with the WiFi not working either--important! So if you're looking for a cozy place to study, or have a meeting, or just relax that has plenty of sunlight and open window access, then definitely visit the Flint Public Library!

There is a bathroom nearby with a changing station. The staff that day were friendly and very helpful in looking up books for me in the adult section. Thank you to the GDL for the children's center and convenience. I wish this location was closer to us.

I mentioned it to both of the staff members, and they just excused it away - "probably worked in a factory"......"hard of hearing".... without asking him to either lower his voice or continue his conversation outside. I did get a response from an email to a supervisor, however. Hopefully, that scenario won't happen again.

Libraries must not be quiet anymore…read more I was having some work done on my home and so I decided to stop here since I wouldn't have power for a while. I stopped in, spoke to the librarian and obtained a card. I asked him how to get to a desk that was upstairs and he told me. He also told me that there is another area that I could go to if I wanted a more quit area to work from, and I told him I was ok. But boy oh boy. It was really loud. Phones ringing and people talking on the phone in there. I honestly thought that I was being punked. I will go to another location next time.

Beautiful inside and out, this library makes it easy for your imagination to soar. The staff was so gracious. They are probably used to visitors being amazed by the library. Watching two extremely excited grown adults trying not to run, point and exclaim over is probably normal. (We managed to keep quiet: it's a library!) As student bookstores go, it's pretty well run and fairly well-organized. This student-run store is conveniently located to campus, near plenty of dining options both in and off campus, as well as residence housing, classrooms, administration offices, the recreation center, university library, parking, and more. The pavilion houses a typical food court area, plus there are numerous restaurants and bars across the street. As for parking, there is a flat lot across the street, an adjacent parking garage and ample spaces to park up and down Saginaw Street, as well as campus parking lots designated for students and staff only. Prices can be downright sky high for pretty much anything and everything, from textbooks to supplies, but who are we kidding? This is the campus/student bookstore, so it's not like you're going to a regular bookstore. Prices on everything are jacked because it's a student bookstore and everyone knows that going in. The best bet is to pick up as many used textbooks as you can for your classes and just suck it up. Textbooks and assorted supplies, like notebooks, journals, blue book essays, etc cost almost as much as tuition. As for book buy-back rates? As with every other student bookstore out there, it sucks, but depending on who is working, you might be able to finagle a better deal than you would otherwise, but always be prepared to get something like $8-$12 back for a brand-new philosophy or history textbook that cost you $170 and was barely cracked open all semester. Sigh, it's the nature of the beast.

I was looking for a specific book that I could not find so asked the librarian for help and she was able to locate and order it from another library. They have movies, computers to use, books, even book club kits! I just love this place!

The children's section on the bottom floor is great! They have a play area, eight computers, a plenty of places to relax and read. The selection is great as well! As a teacher, I'm always on the hunt for new children's books and have been pleasantly surprised each time I visit. I've always found something that was on my list! I love when a library stays current! Keep up the awesome work!!!

They have great events for kids and adult programs, too. I went to a cooking demo here last year and it was packed. I learned so much. I think the staff is great. They treat my kids so well and did not get upset my autistic child threw a tantrum. I got some great new movies to watch for the week last night and they allow you to rent a ton without putting them on a hold.
