Disclaimer: This happened back in 2019. At this point I had been coming into Genesis Dental for a few years and had already been somewhat unhappy as it seemed that my dental work was being rushed. Fast forward a bit, and I had just changed jobs and thus had a new insurance policy. I called the office ahead of my appointment with my new policy information and was assured that it would not be an issue. After my very rushed appointment I went home and didn't think much of it until about two weeks later when I got a bill in the mail saying my insurance was declined. I called the office and spoke to the receptionist who assured me that they made an honest mistake and would update to my new policy. Low and behold a week or so later I get another letter saying I have an unpaid balance and that they were threatening to send me to collections. Furious, I called them and told them I'd be coming into the place to make sure they update their systems because this was just unprofessional and unacceptable. I came in, physically watched them update my information then correctly bill my insurance. I then asked them to pull my record so I could provide my file to a new dentist that I was already in contact with. They seemed surprised and I told them it was bad enough I needed to remind them 3 times to update my insurance, but threatening to send me to collections for their mistake was the final straw. Sure enough, my insurance settled the bill and I never had to deal with this awful dental practice ever again. Also my new dentist informed me it took her three attempts for them to actually send my record over when I shared my frustrations with her. Also she found a cavity that was pretty decayed at that point proving my earlier preconceived notion that the dental work was being rushed. read more

*****Update#2***** Any patients that have unfinished dental work must file a claim with the State Dental board. Dentists cannot just leave patients high and dry without trying to get them care or their records and x-rays. This is called patient abandonment and it is against the law. I am also forced to contact my insurance to tell them what has happened because they will not allow another claim for additional x-rays for 1 year. I understand Dr. Wolf suffered a heart attack but now that he is stable he should be trying to do the right thing and get his patients their records that they are entitled to *******Update****** I received notification that Genesis dental is the longer in business. Unfortunately, Dr. Wolf suffered a heart attack and is in need of a double knee replacement, and was forced to close the doors. Also unfortunately some of his patients had procedures that were still being completed, as well as others, who paid upfront for their procedures. At this point Dr. Wolf's patients have no access to their dental records, x-rays or anything else. I was told Dr. Wolf is locked out of the business. I have been a patient here for about 10 plus years. Recently there have been some changes abs not for the better. Dentists have changed and the staff didn't let any patients know of changes. Front desk is unfriendly and rude. Will never go back and will be sure to spread the word about all the changes. read more

Best of the best! Been going in this dental office for a while now. Dental implants and surgery is Dr. Wolf field, he is the best at it. He always cares and takes pride of his excellent work. One month ago he did two implants for me and it was an amazing experience. No pain, no swelling! Today he did infected tooth extraction. Great job as always! His team is amazing! I hope the other reviewers that posted in 2023 see this review. I know I am not the only one that paid for services ahead of time and did not receive these services before Dr. Wolf completely closed his office. He told me in August that he would refund my money and has yet to do so. Last month, I found out that Dr. Wolf is alive and well, with a brand new practice in Coralville, IA. He closed Genesis in July 2023, sold his home in Coto de Caza in August, and was already promoting his new dental practice in Iowa on YouTube that same month. From these videos and photos on his new website, he does not look like a man recovering from a heart attack and double knee surgery as was told to his patients. I urge all his former patients to file Complaint claims with the Iowa Dental Board as well as with the State of California. Past that, speak to an attorney and find out what your rights are for receiving back your money. It sure seems like something shady went down and there is fraud involved. read more

$444 to get my teeth cleaned. Took almost 2 hours, they took photographs of me. Then they Xrayed every tooth, and then I got a good, but standard cleaning. They said I owed $444.00 They never asked to do Xrays or photos, and my appointment was specifically to get a cleaning. Either stay away or bring a BIG wallet with you, they will add on services you do not want, and not ask you, then charge you about double what you'd pay elsewhere. read more

Update: I finally received information from the infamous billing department. They refunded 86% of my money back. Not sure where the rest of it went. Maybe for my last visit? But as of yet (8th May) I haven't received any email or snail mail to show breakdown of the refund. Maybe it will arrive. I will call them out of curiosity within 1 month if I don't receive any communication. You know, it is so easy just to send email or make a quick call or send a receipt as soon as the refund has been made. It is not rocket science. That is how you do business and keep clients. But maybe they have plenty of business ? I have been a client for many years.....long before they were taken over. They did great work. Thats why I kept going back to them. Even since the new management took over, I have had no problems with work performed (albeit just basic cleaning etc )...but beware of their billing department. Give it a second thought before you hand over any $$ I have been a patient for many many years with Genesis Dental. This review is not with reference to actual services but with reference to their billing department (if they exist).... They owe me money. I call and am told the billing department will call me back. They never do. I call again. Same thing. No response whatsoever. At least a call to say why the refund is delayed would be appreciated. But nothing. Getting closer to the point where I will have to take legal action in order to get what they owe me (approximately $1000). Sad that an external billing department is allowed by Genesis Dental to ruin a patient relationship that has spanned probably 2 decades. They may be an external entity but Genesis Dental chose to use them and so should show some responsibility. Stay tuned. read more

Corrupt. It's so wild this place just vanished into thin air, leaving people who paid good money for future services only to disappear. Both my father and I are out thousands of dollars. Cancelled our appointments, and when we physically went to the location they were just gone. A rude awakening that we really are our own advocates for out health. read more

The doctor and his staff are fantastic and I would recommend without hesitation. The downside is the office administration and billing staff who are inept and discourteous. I was charged double for an implant procedure due to the inexperience of a staff member. The procedure was fully paid up front; however, I was billed at the end. Initially the office used the wrong SSN to make a claim for an insurance I did not have and the matter was referred to a collection agency. The staff did not know which dental insurance is accepted by the practice. During a post procedure problem the receptionist could not schedule a follow up appointment as she was overwhelmed. The doctor is fantastic but the administrative staff needs to be trained properly. I would rather have a root canal done than deal with the billing and reception. So here I sit recommending the fantastic doctor but warning you to standby for a ride with billing and reception. read more

The dental service is great but if you have a billing issue the service is absolutely horrible. I've experienced the same billing issue for the past two years and I need to follow up 8-10 times and even then, I don't get a callback. I have emailed, called, and left messages with their calling service! Even though I have been with Genesis Dental Group for over 8 years, I am looking to switch to a new dentist as they are not worth the hassle and effort to resolve billing issues. read more

If I could give them "0" I would. I have been going to Genesis for over 20 years but never again. Under the previous ownership I never had a single issue , but under the current ownership I experienced frequent upselling, overcharging for procedures provided and then EXTREME difficulty getting even a simple return phone call let alone a refund. On more than one occasion we were told that procedures were covered by insurance that were not and given quotes that were significantly inaccurate! My daughter, husband and my parents USED to go to Genesis Dental as well and have since left due to their own similarly bad experiences. read more

My family and I had been going to Genesis for over 20 years. Recently, we left for good because they sent us an email in April (we presume it went to all patients) that was not only in extremely poor taste but was misleading and terribly inappropriate. The email had a link and note (see photo) to a video that presented false and misleading information about COVID. The video was by two Kern County doctors that gave advice to ignore the guidelines being issued by health authorities and true experts. I was and remain very shocked and angered that a dentist would put out such bad health information. Not only is it completely inappropriate to send controversial and politically-charged messages to patients but horrible to spread information that misleads the public about a life threatening disease. Fortunately, the video has been taken down and it was denounced by Kern County health authorities, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM). I had my 1st appt. since the pandemic started. Lynn did an excellent job, was very thorough and gave me great information about my daily home regiment. No pain, no cavities and put me on the path to better dental health. This office was taken over when the previous dentist's retired and the entire office has been completely redone with state of the art equipment, the visit was literally painless. I had a crown replacement completed recently. Outstanding job! They now have the capability to make the replacement crown on-site (real time). It took a little longer but only one visit and no temporary crown. Dr. Wolf is a highly skilled dentist and a natural perfectionist. He takes pride in his work and pays very close attention to detail. His assistants are also very well trained and professional. My family and have been going there for over 15 years. Recently a crown they put in fell out. I was furloughed due to COVID so I didn't have dental insurance and I was afraid this may be costly. I called and explained to Stephanie that I didn't not have insurance and just wanted a consult. When I arrived I reminded Stephanie that it was just for a consult and I wrote it on the intake paperwork. The dentist looked at the tooth and said he could glue it in temporarily until I can get it fixed correctly. This took him about 10 minutes from start to finish. When I went I check out Stephanie handed me a bill of $350. I explained to her that I didn't not have insurance and wasn't expecting this. I just wanted a consult. She said that the dentist should have explained this to me and that she would talk to the dentist and call me. I paid the bill but of course never received a call. 3 days later the crown fell out again so I called. I spoke to Stephanie again and she said she would tally it he dentists and call me by the end of t he day. I called 2 days later and left a message. The other Stephanie called me back 2 days later and said they could not do anything about it. I asked to speak to the dentist and she said he was busy but would call me at his earliest convenience. I am stunned to learn that as of June 2023 this place has closed thier doors and the dental office that is supposed to handle thier patients doesn't have access to records or doesn't do the same procedures that Genesis did . We paid over 10k in cash for a upper 4 on 4 denture replacement that we have not gotten completed for my husband . This weekend one of the posts fell out if his mouth . I called today about it and also to follow up to see when we would be getting the new denture and found the news that Genesis is closed the new dentist OC SMILES has no patient records and is not honoring any prior payments of former patients for procedures or has no knowledge of payments made for prosthetics ordered etc . So basically I am left with having to call the state of Cali to figure out what our options are as there is no answer at the office . We received a email stating the new office would be seeing prior patients but when I called the receptionist at OC SMILES informed me that they are not honoring any prior patient payments for prior procedure or on going commitments . I am totally stunned and disappointed beyond belief as we are on fixed income and this was a huge amount of money for us to pay . We have no new denture and now my husband has a hole from lost post and we would have to pay a totally new dentist to repair it as this OC SMILES doesn't even do 4 on 4 . I am so confused and really sad to hear all this as I actually liked Dr Wolf and the office staff and I don't understand what happened. I feel we all need a explanation. read more

Great dentist, fabulous staff, I'm a big fan!

First of all, I hate the dentist. Always have. It seems like every time I go see a dentist, I leave with less money and they've kept 1 or more of my teeth. I've been to other places where I went in for a routine cleaning, was told I had multiple cavities (even though I had no pain or discomfort), and before I could even look at my X-rays, a needle was jammed in my mouth, my face was numb, and my insurance had been charged. HOWEVER, Genesis Dental is not like that, and Dr. Cadalso is phenom'. I had my wisdom tooth removed yesterday (and in case you want to know, it was impacted and located almost directly beneath my back molar, and I needed a bone graft as well). Dr. Cadalso actually went over my X-rays with me and explained all procedures and reasons behind the treatment plan he suggested. As per usual, I remember nothing of the surgery, which is good right? But I do know I hardly bled at all after. I didn't even need a second round of gauze. (Great job with those sutures, Doc!) And while my face is incredibly puffy, I'm not in too much pain. Oh and as a side note, Tia is THE BEST! I'm not sure exactly what her title is, but I know she deals with insurance, and she's amazing! I've never felt like any doctor's office--dentist or otherwise--cared about me or about how much money was pouring out of my pocket. But Tia does care, and I know she worked her butt off to make sure I got the best possible coverage. She's the best at her job, hands down, and I love her...though admittedly some of this could be the post-op RX codeine talking ;). Thanks again, Dr. Cadalso and team! read more

I cannot say enough about the people at Genesis Dental! I moved from the midwest 15 years ago and have struggled to find a dentist here that wasn't always trying to up sell me on unnecessary treatments and procedures. Because of this I had not been to the dentist in a LONG time. Before I went in to Genesis I was scared of how much work I might need, and scared of the pain factor. In both cases I was pleasantly surprised! Dr. Cadalso was so knowledgable and reassuring right from the start. He never tried to up sell me, and helped me make a plan to get the work done over time based on the most important issues handled first. I then went in for a root canal and saw Dr. Sue.... again... wow! What a fantastic experience. I know it sounds strange, but really, I had a great time during my root canal. Dr. Sue and her assistant were beyond friendly and always explained every step to me completely. I am also pleased to say that I felt absolutely no pain at all. In short, this place rocks! The first 2 offices I tried left me wondering if I was going to have to travel back to Kansas to visit my old dentist. A friend recommended Dr. Cadalso and I will be forever grateful. The front office staff has been extremely helpful and always happy to help. From providing me with multiple quotes, helping navigate insurance plans, to just being a calm presence in a stressful situation. These ladies are the best of the best! Dr. Cadalso himself...wow! I was a patient of Dr Caldaso and happy with his practice and staff for years. I just had my first visit since he sold the practice and I will not be back. Never even met the new dentist but following my recent appointment I had an interaction with the office manager that was unacceptable. I've waited to post a review because I wanted to see if she would follow up to try and do a better job but she most certainly did not. I don't know where to begin. Dr Cadalso is a brilliant dentist. But then his wife came in and ruined everything. She was terrible to employees. Heard with my own ears. She ran the practice not the doctor. Before Dr Cadalso bought the practice, front office was always the issue. Then when he bought it things got great. Then is went downhill with a terribly rude employee who does billing. They sent me for a temporary tooth. When the man who owned the practice kicked me out because the tooth was the wrong size, ( which he was finally fired by the Dr) this girl said to me, the paying patient, "Well their are two sides to every story". She by the way was "family" with the wife and Dr. it's sad to see such a brilliant man be so influenced by bull in a china shop women. I heard he sold the practice. Let's see what the new Dr brings, A wife? Oh man I hope not. So I guess me and my family now search for a new dentist. What a shame. And we drove all the way from a inland Empire to go there . By the way he never sent out anything to his patients introducing the new guy or saying Thank You to all of us who paid for his retirement. I could say so much more but why bother. Worst business was we have every had to deal with after years of my husband going here. Dr. Wolf and his management team need to be reported. Not only did crown work fall off within a week of being done but the office staff turnover is so very sad! We have dual coverage for dental work but they made us pay one hundred percent up front and 4 months later still owe us over a grand since they have been paid not only by us, but from our insurance as well! try calling to resolve or find out anything? Good luck! The worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. Not a manager in site and even requested the dentist himself to call us back after multiple attempts to resolve our issue... Nothing has been done and we still have not been reimbursed. Yes, we have taken our business elsewhere and it looks like I have to be more aggressive with going to higher authorities in getting reimbursed which is so very sad! I had the misfortune of having the worst tooth infection ever during Covid 19 right when shelter in place started. Dr Wolf saw me and his team was amazing. They were so careful and probably saved me from who knows what with their service. I was very lucky to be seen and treated by him and the entire staff there. I had been putting off dealing with this back tooth until it was too late. It became very serious at the worst time. However, Dr. Wolf was really the best dentist for me at that terrible time. I had an emergency crown work done here and the staff was awesome. The work was top notch. It was relatively quick and the crown felt better than the original tooth. The price was appropriate given the high quality of work done and nobody tried to upsell me on any work. This was huge. read more

Absolutely horrible office. My son recently had all four wisdom teeth pulled. You would think this would be normal practice for a dentist office. The office forgot to call in his medication and when they did it was to the wrong pharmacy, so while the laughing gas wore off my son suffered in pain until the medication was finally ready. Then we asked for a refill of the pain medication (extra strength Tylenol) and the office refused to give him a refill but instead "suggested" that he take three over-the-counter medications instead. Seriously? So every time he is in pain he is supposed to take three over-the-counter medications, can we say liver damage? How ridiculous. We are changing dentists immediately and advising to stay away from this place. There are too many dentists out there to worry about these uncaring schmucks. read more

I don't normally write reviews on yelp but wanted to warn everyone else about this dental group. After reading such good reviews on yelp about this place, i decided to come here for wisdom pulled and fillings. Gave them 2 stars since they wisdom pulled was good (by Dr. Cadalso); however I got big problem with the fillings. I was advised to do 7 fillings, so I followed the advice. Fillings were bothering me after, ended up causing pain. I came back 5+ times to get the pain fixed but they couldn't find the problem, and denied the problem was caused by the fillings. They even said one of the fillings wasn't done by them. So despite the pain and time going back & forth, it wasn't fixed. So i left the place and went to another dentist. Another problem is that they didn't charge the right amount that the insurance company allow them to, they overcharged me. Worse was that they didn't mention anything about that, until i received letters from insurance company and saw the allowance charge. Luckily my husband & I have insurance benefit background, so we kept calling them. After couple of weeks "fighting", they finally admit their mistake and returned some of the money; yet still owe us credits. Hope everyone find this helpful. read more

My family and I have been going to genesis dental for almost 20 years. We loved Dr. Cadalso and Pizzolo! Our son had to have braces when he was 10 and at that time, they had an orthodontist, which was very convenient. He got his braces off almost 2 years later. Unfortunately the orthodontist who worked with this practice left. We continued to have our cleanings and other appointments at genesis. In February of this year, during a cleaning we brought attention to the fact that we had noticed he had developed an open bite. I don't know how long this had been going on for, but when we brought it up at a cleaning for my son in February, the hygienist had the new dentist Dr. Wolf who had recently bought the practice look at his bite. He told us we needed to see an orthodontist, but did not address the fact that our son had routine cleanings, but this was the first time it was brought up to the new dentist. We explained that because he bought the practice, he should have all patient records from the prior owner. He said he would look them over and get back to us. They closed due to Covid, but are back open again. My husband called the practice to find out why Dr. Wolf had not returned our calls and were told there was nothing they could do and to go see an orthodontist. What we are upset about is the lack of responsibility from this dentist and that he had not reviewed my sons previous treatments and just wanted to refer us out. Previous patient records should have been reviewed by the new dentist prior or right after buying the practice. We are extremely frustrated that there is no responsibility and now we have to go elsewhere for proper treatment. We will NOT be going back to Genesis Dental and I do NOT recommend him or the new office. read more

It's very unfortunate that I'm having to write this review but I want to inform others that this Dentist and his office not only do not return calls but do not see the urgency to address my dental issues. I've been a patient for over 20 years. I started going to this dentistry back when Dr. Staphen was the dentist, then his practice was sold to Dr. Pizzolo. I am now changing Dental offices because of the dentist, Dr. Wolfe and his staff. I've called multiple times, left multiple messages and when I do get a call back they actually admitted that they don't know when the Dr. will be working and that they do not have access to my files and x-rays. What?? How would a new dentist be able to diagnose anything if he can't look back and my records and my x-rays?! Not to mention, he can get into a lot of legal trouble by not having access to patient files. Now, I just want to transfer my files and x-rays to another dentist and I can't even do that. Definitely not the way I would handle my clients since he just took over another dentist's office. Not a good first impression or last one for that matter. I just wanted to inform the Yelp reviewers because I've been with this practice for a long time and have never received the lack of service and care for patients. read more

This 5 star review is a little overdue. My son (a former professional baseball player) had his two front teeth injured severely three times during his playing career. Once in college was the worst; a 90 mph errant throw that his him squarely in the mouth. The NCAA sent him to their dentist who completely botched the fix. Infection, bad crown shape, he didn't even look like himself when it was done. We brought him to Dr. Cadalso for a consultation. Dr. Cadalso was honest, frank, sensitive and made a plan for implants that was a two year plan. We finished this undertaking just before Christmas. My son had successful implant surgery on his two front teeth and Dr. Cadalso returned his smile to his original facial profile. When you are facing the difficult or lengthy procedure know that you can trust this doctor and his team 100%. He was perfect. read more
